Carol J. Carter (nee Brown) - age 66, of Sheffield Township, formerly of Elyria, passed away Tuesday morning at New Life Hospice Center of St Joseph in Lorain following a short illness . She was born in 1937 in Elyria and has been a Lorain County resident her entire life, living the last 8 months in Sheffield Township. As a young girl, she attended McKinley Elementary School in Elyria, Oberlin High School in Oberlin, OH and worked at Oberlin College as a young adult.
In 1986, Carol retired from Lorain County Human Services where she was employed as a cook for Green Acres Children Home, with 10 years of service. She attended various churches throughout Lorain County. Carol enjoyed singing and playing the piano, listening to Gospel music, reading, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her children, Carma M. Lovejoy of Elyria; Joseph B. Carter of Lorain; Lynda G. Lemons of Columbus, OH; Denise M. Carter of Lorain and Jonathan K. Carter, Sr. of Columbus, OH; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, 6 brothers and sisters Alvin Brown of Summerdale, NJ; Mary Ellen Knight of Rialto, CA; Raymond Brown of Guatelahara, Mexico; Ernest Brown of Paramount, CA; Shirley Brown of Lorain, OH and Janice Wortham of Rialto, CA; 3 Aunts Alverna McBride, Florence Hall and Bertha Mae Woolbrite, all of Elyria; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, David L. Carter in 1992 and her parents, Frederick and Cadella Brown (nee Greenfield) .
Funeral services will be held at the Funeral Home Saturday, June 7 at 1:00PM. The Rev. Willie Gardner, Pastor of Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Elyria, to officiate and brother Alvin Brown to share the eulogy. Interment will be at Brookdale cemetery in Elyria, OH. Friends may call at the BUSCH-CURTIS-SCHEUFFLER FAMILY CHAPEL from 11:00AM until service time on Saturday. The family will receive friends at 316 Woodland Ave., Elyria on Thursday and Friday.

Frances B. Waicak (nee Wasil) - 82 of Avon Lake, formerly of Chatham, OH, passed away Sunday, June 1 at Good Samaritan Skilled Nursing Facility following a lengthy Illness. Mrs. Waicak was born November 12, 1920 in Cleveland and had lived in Avon Lake for 33 years.
Mrs. Waicak was a homemaker, a member of St. Joseph Church, Avon Lake and enjoyed baking and cooking.
She is survived by 3 daughters: Barbara Manges (Richard) of Spencer, OH; Patricia Nyetrae (Neil) of North Cross, GA and May Trimbell of Duluth, GA; and a son John Waicak (Janice) of Mogadore, OH. Other survivors include 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband John P. Waicak, 2 brothers, a sister and her parents, Alexander and Margaret (nee Saukaitis) Wasil.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd. Avon Lake, Wednesday, June 4 for one hour prior to a 9:45am Prayer Service. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 32929 Lake Rd., Avon Lake at 10:00am. Fr. Timothy J. O'Connor of the Church will officiate. Interment will be in Holy Trinity cemetery, Avon. Memorial may be forwarded to the Church.

Margery J. Stanley, 94, of Avon, passed away and went to join our Lord on May 24th. Margery Jane Foulke, daughter of Helena (nee Miller) and Loring Foulke was born on May 3rd, 1909, in Oil City, Pennsylvania. At age 3 Margery joined the John and Belle Fleming family in Cleveland, where she was lovingly raised as their foster daughter. She married
Harry G. Stanley, President of the Oahu Publishing Company, on April 11, 1941. In the early 50s the Stanleys relocated to Avon, where Margery had designed and personally supervised the building of the family home.
During her working career, Margery's positions included employment as a bank teller and Executive Vice-President of the Oahu Publishing Company. She is survived by her daughter Marilyn "Kitter" Stanley of Grand Rapids, MN; a nephew Jack Dixon of Sun City West, Arizona; her granddaughter Greta Ann (Nathaniel Wescott Jr.) Terry of Willis Wharf, Virginia; a godchild Kimberly (Doug) Eiting of Avon Lake; and her two best friends who were daily caregivers Doris Jewett of Elyria and Angee Mayhew of Amherst. A private service for family and friends will be held at a future date. Deepest gratitude goes to the Cleveland Clinic Visiting Nurse Association's Hospice and Care Plus which the family would like designated for any memorials.
