Wilbert C. O'Hara, Jr. - 86 of Westlake, formerly of Avon Lake, passed away, Saturday, August 28 at his home at Brighton Gardens, following a short illness. Mr. O'Hara was born, September 6, 1917 in Cleveland and had lived in Avon Lake for 45 years before moving to Westlake, 2 and 1/2 years ago.
Mr. O'Hara was a graduate of West Tech High School, Cleveland and worked for General Motors at the Parma Plant as a Line Foreman retiring after 25 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Avon Lake and enjoyed fishing and golf.
Mr. O'Hara is survived by 2 daughters: Linda Collins (Bruce) of Sacramento, CA and Pamela Janicek (Anthony) of Avon Lake and a son Mike O'Hara (Cynthia) of Avon. Other survivors include 9 grandchildren: Abbey, Tony, Kelly, Julie, Erin, Justin, Jackie, Pami and Kevyn; a great granddaughter Ellie and a sister Gladys Bohnert of Westlake. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara (nee Steets) and his parents, Wilbert C., Sr., and Ruth (nee Swartwood) O'Hara.

He left a legacy of seven children, 17 grandchildren, a business and the spirit of "family first" to all that knew him. Mr. Maroon started his own business, along with his wife Aileen, in 1977 at the age of 42. Prior to starting his own firm, Tony worked for the B.F. Goodrich Co., the Diamond Shamrock Co., and Buckman Laboratories. An entrepreneur and consummate salesman at heart, Tony quickly found success after staking his claim as Maroon Incorporated. Still thriving today, Maroon Inc. now employs 40 people and participates in worldwide commerce whose center remains around the underpinnings Tony laid in chemical raw material distribution. Tony's love for his family was unparalleled and never wavered. He not only loved his children and grandchildren but he also embraced all of their friends as if they were his own. His home, often slated as a "weigh station" in Westlake, fed many people on any given night. In the summers, nothing gave him more pleasure than an early round of golf at Westwood Country Club followed by an afternoon of Indians baseball, where he found the good in every player. He greatly looked forward to Saturdays in the fall where he would watch Ohio State football by day and follow the St. Ignatius Wildcats by night. Tony Maroon had a smile for all. Rose C. Horwedel (Nee Janicek) 70 of Kinsman, formerly of Avon, passed away, Friday, August 27 at her home after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born, January 24, 1934 in Mahoning Valley, PA and had lived in Avon for many years before moving to Kinsman, OH 7 years ago.
Mrs. Horwedel worked for United Airlines for 20 years as a Reservations Specialist in Rocky River and Honolulu, Hawaii retiring in 1989. She was a graduate of Coaldale High School, Coaldale, PA. She enjoyed travel and lived in Honolulu for 3 years.
She is survived by her husband, Robert R. Horwedel, whom she married
October 29, 1955. Other survivors include, 2 sons: Robert A. Horwedel of Ansbach, Germany and David A. Horwedel (Kim) of Avon; 2 daughters: Nancy L. Pipas (Mark) of Westlake Village, CA and Cheryl R. Horwedel of Portland, OR; granddaughter Olivia Horwedel at home in Avon and 4 sisters: Elma Morana of Drums, PA, Sarah Iacubucci of Rochester, NY, Stephanie Jasenak of Mansfield and Bernadine Plocinik of Coaldale, PA. She is preceded in death by her parents, Valentine and Rosalia (nee Konecy) Janicek, a brother Valentine Janicek and sister Margaret Matula.
