Pauline G. Liquori
CLEVELAND - Pauline G. Liquori, 85, formerly of Lillie Road in Jefferson, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, at University Hospitals of Cleveland.
Born Nov. 10, 1917, in Sheffield Township, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Mikula) Stasko and had been a lifelong Ashtabula County resident.
Before retiring, she worked at Yoder Brothers' Greenhouse.
Mrs. Liquori was a member of SASS, Catholic Daughters and St. Andrew's Church. She also was active in the American Legion, Dewey Howlett Post 103.
Survivors include her two daughters, Diane L. Bliss of Charlotte, N.C., and Paulette L. Menchyk of Madison; three sisters, Ann Pintar of Jefferson, Margaret Michael of Cleveland, and Helen Consilio of Medina; four grandchildren, Richard and Kimberly Tallent, Lynn Bessant, and Jon Menchyk; and a great-granddaughter, Brittany Tallent.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; three brothers, Peter, Frank and John; two sisters, Julia Daniels and Mary Gersmehl; and her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew's Church, 3700 Route 193, Sheffield Township. The Rev. Stephen Wassie, pastor of the church, will preside. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Ashtabula.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Zaback-Czup Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Andrew's Church Building Fund.
John W. Oren
COLUMBIA, MISSOURI - John W. Oren, Jr., 66, died Friday, Jan.10, 2003, at his home. He was born June 30, 1936, in Bluffton, the son of John and Ann (Gratson) Oren.
He lived in Sheffield Township in Ashtabula County for 27 years, then moved to Columbus.
While living in the Ashtabula area, Mr. Oren was a member of the Gageville United Methodist Church. He graduated from Kingsville High School in 1954. He was a teacher for six 1/2 years at Pierpont, Kingsville and Edgewood High Schools and he developed the very first Vocational Agricultural Departments in those schools. He was an advisor for Future Farmers of America and taught adult education. Mr. Oren served as the Ashtabula County Agent in Jefferson before moving to Columbus.
Mr. Oren earned his master's degree while living and working in Ashtabula County and earned his doctorate degree from the Ohio State University. He worked in the Agricultural and Extension Education Service Departments at Ohio State University, Mississippi State University, New Mexico State University and was Associate Vice-President for Academic Affairs-Director of Extension at the University of Missouri. He retired due to medical reasons in 1987.
Mr. Oren served as an Elder at the Columbia Evangelical Free Church, where he was an active member. He enjoyed being with his family and friends, traveling, music, horses, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Regina Martin, whom he married in 1958; a son, Wes Oren of Marietta, Ga.; two daughters, Deanna Fancher of Columbia, Mo. and Lisa Needy of Ft. Collins, Co; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Carol Whelan of South Padre Island, Texas; Mary Lou Howe of Ashtabula; and Judy Dragon of Andover.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Evangelical Free Church, 600 Silvey St., Columbia, Mo. and visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, at the Memorial Park Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Columbia.

Larry D. Braden

Larry D. Braden, 57 of Pine Ridge Rd. Sheffield Twp died Wednesday (Feb. 21st) at his home. He was born October 30, 1949 in Conneaut, Ohio the son of Russell and Arlene (Schlaich) Braden and has been a lifetime area resident.
He was a 1967 graduate of Conneaut High School.
He had been a Scout Master of Boy Scouts Troops 11 and 39 and he received the Order of the Arrow. He is a member of the American Bass Association; a Hunter safety course instructor; hunting and trapping coordinator; he was part of the re-introduction of the wild turkey; and he was a member of the Conneaut Farmers Market. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, flower gardening, vegetable gardening, carpentry and woodworking. He enjoyed spending time at the cabin in Tionesta, Pa with friends and family; NASCAR Racing, ; spending time with his grandchildren and he loved the outdoors.
Surviving him are his parents of North Kingsville; his wife Darlene (Krenisky) Braden whom he married November 1, 1968; a son Craig Braden of Sheffield Twp, a daughter, Stacy (Steve) Forstein of Ashtabula; four grandchildren, Brittany Braden, Samantha Braden, Tae Summers and Josh Braden; two brothers, Dennis Braden of Pierpont and Greg (Mary Jo) Braden of Conneaut and two sisters, Gayle (John) Kern and Darlene Braden of Sheridan, Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbie Braden and a granddaughter, Jessica Braden.
Funeral service will be Monday (Feb. 26th) at 1:00 PM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with Rev. Paula Marbury of the East Conneaut United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Gageville Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Monday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Everett L. Smith

Everett L. Smith, age 91, Griggs Rd., Jefferson Twp., died early Saturday morning at the Jefferson Healthcare Center.
He was born May 5, 1922 in Sheffield Twp., the son of Roy & Lena (Smith) Smith and has been a lifelong resident of the Jefferson area. He was married to Berneta M. Monroe on July 9, 1967 in Winchester, VA. Mr. Smith worked more than 30 years and retired from True Temper Corp.
He was a member of the Lenox Christian Fellowship Church and the Ashtabula Co. Wagon Train, where he served as Wagon Master for many years. Mr. Smith was a gentleman farmer and he enjoyed yodeling, singing, riding his bicycle and making maple syrup with the Smith family.
He is survived by his wife, Berneta, three children, Nancy White of Painesville, Larry (Rayann) Church of Jefferson & Kathryn (David) Root of Easthampton, MA, nine grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, five siblings, Noble Smith & Lee Smith, both of Sheffield Twp., Ruth Tanner of Jefferson, Arthur Smith & Grace Oeffner, both of Sheffield Twp. and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents and a son, Karl Smith preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A. M. Tuesday at the Lenox Christian Fellowship Church, 2610 Lenox-New Lyme Rd., Jefferson, OH 44047, with the Pastor Rick Havens officiating. Burial will be in Lenox Center Cemetery.
No calling hours will be observed. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Lenox Christian Fellowship Church at the above address, envelopes will also be at the church. The Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Home and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson is handling arrangements.
Robert Burton Weir
SHEFFIELD TOWNSHIP - Robert Burton Weir, 72, died Sunday, January 15, 2012 at home after a long and extremely courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Ellen, and his 3 surviving children.
Known as “Bob” to all his family and friends, he was born July 2, 1939 in Ashtabula, Ohio to Bernard Burton Weir (deceased) and Florence Esther Artman Weir (deceased).
He was married to Ellen Louise Dain September 13, 1958 in Jefferson, Ohio by Reverend Ralph Thompson.
Bob served in the United States Navy in 1956-1960 and Navy Reserves from 1960-1962.
Employed as an Electrician at Premix, Manager at Standard Oil Company, and Foreman at Rockwell Brake Plant in Ashtabula, he retired from Reliance Electric.
He was a member of Gageville United Methodist church, the Grand Lodge of F&AM; Orion Lodge #353 (32nd degree/Scottish Rite), Sheffield Grange, the Antique Engine Club, a former little league manager and 4-H leader, and volunteer firefighter.
Bob loved anything to do with nature where he could view God’s creations - whether it was farming the land or fishing on Lake Erie, he was at peace. Creating woodworking projects with his hands or golfing were additional pleasures. Bob was also known for his amazing ability to repair or rebuild just about anything. Extremely proud of his family, his greatest joy was being able to provide a loving home for his family and friends. He taught so many the true meaning of hard work and dedication and to appreciate every day.
His survivors include his wife, Ellen; three children, Gary Weir (Beth) of North Kingsville, Teresa (Tim) Miller of Jamestown NY, and Jo Ellen (Jeff) Park of Jefferson; grandchildren Tim (Lindsey) Weir of Ashtabula, Andy Weir of Denver, CO, Rebecca Weir of North Kingsville, Allan Miller, Greg Miller, and Jeff Miller (all of Jamestown, NY), and Kimberly Maurer of Jefferson; a great-grandson, Nathan Weir; brothers: Bernard “Sonny” (AKA Arthur Loveland) and Jack Lee Weir; sisters, Freda Jordan, Beverly Jean, and Dolores Holcomb; foster brothers: Harold, Bob and Terry Steen; a number of nieces and nephews; and his canine companion, Joey.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Melonie Kaye Weir (7/24/00) and son-in-law, Dale Maurer (1/8/02); brothers, Arthur and Clarence; sisters, Bernice Thiel and Mildred Bushnell; and foster parents, Mike and Della Steen.
Even though legally Bob had “foster” families, he considered the Steen family his blood relatives.
Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Friday, January 20, 2012 at the ZABACK-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula with F&AM; Orion Lodge #353 conducting the Masonic Memorial service at 8 PM.
Services will be 11 AM Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the ZABACK-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME with full military honors provided by the American Legion Dewey-Howlett Post #103. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Pierpont.
If desired, donations may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve or Erie VA Medical Center, Ashtabula Branch.
