Herbert M. Demuth
Herbert McCreery Demuth of Peak Creek Township, Jefferson, N.C., passed away at Segraves Care Center on Dec. 3, 2000.
Mr. Demuth was born March 2, 1915, in Gnadenhutten, Ohio, to Wilbur Orthello and Alice McCreery Demuth. He received his bachelor's degrees from Capitol University in Columbus and his master's from Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He taught mathematics and the sciences for 35 years in South Salem, Medina and Berea during which time he served as assistant principal and science department chairman. He was involved in the development of numerous educational innovations. Mr. Demuth was a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar and five-time NDEA Fellow. He was an active member of Medina United Church of Christ Congregational, various educational associations, Boy Scouts of America and Kiwanis. For 23 years he was treasurer and member of the Medina County Fair Board. He served as clerk and member of Montville Township trustees. Mr. Demuth was elected to the commission that developed a charter for the city of Medina.
When the Demuths retired in 1980, they moved to Jefferson, where Herbert continued to be active as a deacon and choir member at Mount Jefferson Presbyterian Church. He was treasurer and member of the Friends of the Library, a driver for Meals on Wheels, a member of Peak Creek Ruritan, a Kiwanian, and a part of a study group known as the Blue Ridge University.
He was proud of his family and loved all dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Orleta M.; sons, Stephen Herbert and Robert Lynn; daughter, Phyllis Demuth Movius; grandchildren, Christine and Scott Pilger, Stephen Demuth Jr. and Susan Brown, and Michael Demuth; great-grandson, Brandon Pilger; daughter-in-law, Janice Demuth; son-in-law, Arthur J. Movius III; sister, Helen D. Silness; sister-in-law, Helen Z. Demuth; and many loving nieces and nephews and precious friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Francis Lowell, Roy Vernon and Robert Wallace; beloved daughter-in-law, Dianne L. DeMuth; and brother-in-law, Evan T. Silness.
He was remembered at memorial services held Dec. 8, 2000, at Mount Jefferson Presbyterian Church in West Jefferson, N.C. The Rev. Kermit Dancy and Lt. Col. (retired) Stephen Demuth officiated. Committal services followed at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer in Jefferson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ashe Memorial Hospital Foundation Endowment Fund, 200 Hospital Ave., Jefferson, NC 28640.

Mitchell G. Milanko
Mitchell G. Milanko, 68, of Brunswick Hills Township, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Southwest General Health Center in Middleburg Heights after being diagnosed with cancer in December.
He was born May 6, 1932, in Cleveland and was a Medina resident for 44 years. Mr. Milanko enjoyed fishing, hunting, carving, woodworking and paint artistry. He was employed as a mechanical foreman for 30 years at University Hospitals in Cleveland, retiring in 1987. Mr. Milanko was a 40-year owner/operator of Mitch's Welding, being a welder of excellence for area businesses and residents.
Mr. Milanko is survived by his wife, Leona (nee Snider), with whom he would have celebrated 50 years ofmarriageon Aug. 18; daughter, Denise (Jeff) Aungst of Medina; sons, Dennis, Darrell and Derrick, all of Medina, and Douglas and Dean (Mary Jean, nee Peters) Milanko, both of Brunswick Hills; brother, Robert (Patricia, nee Durante) Milanko of Naples, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Florence Matyas of Middleburg Heights, Mabel Strnad of Cleveland and Florence Snider of Parma; brothers-in-law, Wally Schmidt of Illinois and William (Judy) Snider of Fairview Park; many nieces and nephews; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Denise Lancaster, and parents, Mitchell and Katherine Milanko.
Service: 10 a.m. Monday at Carlson, A Golden Rule Funeral Home, 1642 Pearl Road (one-half mile south of state Route 303), Brunswick.
Interment: Resurrection Cemetery, Valley City.
Visiting hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Phyllis J. Phillips
Phyllis J. Phillips, 53, of New Haven, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at her home.
She was born Sept. 10, 1947, in Willard to Kern and Kathleen (Bailey) Pugh. Mrs. Phillips was a member of Ripley Chapel Church of God, where she was very active over the years. She was a homemaker, worked at Pioneer Rubber and drove a school bus.
She is survived by her husband, Otis F. Phillips, whom she married on June 2, 1973; son, James K. Phillips of Brunswick; brother, LaRue Pugh of Shamokin, Pa.; and sisters, Mrs. Audrey Blanton and Barb (Ron) Horsley, both of Bellevue.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and infant twin brother.
Service: 2 p.m. Saturday at Ripley Chapel Church of God on Old State Road.
Interment: Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven.
Visiting hours: After 2 p.m. today at the church.

Mary C. Plotz
Mary Caroline Plotz, 96, of Cleveland, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Aristocrat West.
She was born May 23, 1904, in Vienna, Austria, and was a Cuyahoga County resident for 75 years. Mrs. Plotz was employed as a machine operator power for Wagner Awnings.
She is survived by her son, Edward (Marie) Plotz of Hinckley Township; daughter, Betty Jane (George) Getz of Cleveland; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward George; brother, Charles Ceren; and sister, Ann Wheelock.
Service: 11 am. today at Carlson, A Golden Rule Funeral Home, 1642 Pearl Road (one-half mile south of state Route 303), Brunswick.
Interment: Maple Hill Cemetery, Hinckley.
Amy E. Talbert
Amy E. Talbert, 92, formerly of Wooster, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Dalton.
She was born Jan. 3, 1909, in Wooster to Fred L. and Helen May Whittier Doty. Ms. Talbert was a jewelry buyer and manager of Rapps Jewelry in Medina for 15 years. She previously was at Beulah Bechtels and Sears prior to moving to Parma and later Medina. Ms. Talbert was an avid golfer and won several tournaments in the Cleveland area. She moved from Medina to Wooster in 1994.
She is survived by her brothers, Donald L. Doty of Tulsa, Okla., and David E. Doty of Wooster, and sister, Ruth A. (Robert) Smith of Canton.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Fred, and sisters, Helen Harding, Harriet Duplain and Charlotte Yeagley.
Private services will be held with the Rev. Dr. Alan E. Nathan.

Jane Moldovan-Allen
Jane Moldovan-Allen, 75, formerly of Sheffield Lake, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Bradley Bay Nursing Home in Bay Village.
She was born March 12, 1925, in Cleveland and lived in Sheffield Lake for 43 years. She was employed as a telephone operator in Lorain for 20 years and also worked at the Tank Plant in Brook Park riveting planes during World War II. She was a member of Unity Church of Westlake and a volunteer at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria, Goodwill of Elyria, Lorain County Food Bank, Sheffield Lake Senior Center and Sheffield Lake Domonkas Library. Ms. Moldovan-Allen enjoyed gardening, culture, music, books, and was a culinary artist.
She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Manning of Elyria, Kimberly (John) Moldovan-Detchon of Medina, Amy (Gary) Moldovan-Pond of Richmond, Va.; sons, Greg (Allison) Moldovan of Dallas and Adam (Chris) Moldovan of Essex Junction, Vt.; and 15 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Lipinski and Josephine (nee Drzella); brother, Albert Lipinski; and sister, Frances Urbancic.
Memorial service: Noon today at Unity Church, Detroit Road, Westlake. The Rev. Barb Smith will officiate.
Interment: St. Teresa Avila Catholic Cemetery, Sheffield Village.

Virginia R. Sanor
Virginia R. (Unangst) Sanor, 80, of North Canton, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at her home following a brief illness.
She was born August 4, 1920, in Marion, Ohio, to Fred and Ethel Garvin. She formerly lived in Lodi and then resided in the Canton area most of her life. Mrs. Sanor was a member of the Canton Bridge Club and a former Gray Lady at Lodi Community Hospital.
She is survived by her brother, Richard Garvin of Sandusky, and sisters, Evelyn Champaign of Hemstead, N.C., and Jo Ann Roads of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Dana Unangst, in 1979; second husband, William Sanor, in 1995; and brother, Jack Garvin.
Service: 1 p.m. Saturday at Reed Funeral Home, Canton. The Rev. Raymond Tucker will officiate.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:45 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi.
Visiting hours: 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Roberta M. Frost
Roberta M. Frost, 70, of Burbank, passed away Monday, June 18, 2001, at Medina General Hospital.
She was born July 15, 1930, in Chatham Township to Harold and Sarah Flemming Clifford and lived in Chatham most of her life before moving to Burbank. Mrs. Frost was a food supervisor for 22 years at the College of Wooster, where she enjoyed working with the students. She was a member of the Wooster Eagles Auxiliary, Chatham VFW Auxiliary and Lodi Tops. She enjoyed cooking for her family, playing cards and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
She is survived by her husband, George; daughter, Shirley (John) Smith of Millersburg; sons, Donald (Maxine) Kinney of Lodi, Ray Kinney of Wooster, Stan Kinney of Ashland and Randy Kinney of Burbank; stepdaughter, Terry Lynne (Vic) Valone of Warren, Pa.; stepsons, Andrew Frost of Reading, Pa., and Greg Frost of Warren, Pa.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Rufus (Viola) Roberts of Chatham, Myrtle Walden of Medina and Mrs. Ronald (Grace) Staser of Lodi; and brother, William (Jean) Clifford of Chatham.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ralph Kinney; brother, Marvin Clifford; and sister, Agnes Clifford.
Service: 11 a.m. Friday at Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi. The Rev. Stephen McLaughlin and Chuck Workman of Medina will officiate.
Burial: Chatham Cemetery.
