Keith D. Keffer
Keith D. Keffer, 69, of Brunswick, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Brecksville Veterans Hospital.
He was born Oct. 4, 1931, in Defiance and was a Medina County resident for 53 years. He was a member of Brunswick VFW Post 9520, MOCPT 54 Edgewater Post Cleveland and United Steel Workers Union. He was a welder in the steel industry and served in the Navy in the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Leola "Jeannie" Keffer of Brunswick; mother, Josephine Keffer of Medina; stepson, David A. (Linda) St. Clair of North Carolina; grandson, Scott St. Clair of North Carolina; granddaughter, Tara St. Clair of North Carolina; and nieces, Susan Davis of Brunswick and Linda Hafner of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Josephine, and father, Lester Keffer.
Graveside service: 11 a.m. Thursday at Eastlawn Cemetery, Grafton Road, Brunswick.
Visiting hours: 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Carlson, A Golden Rule Funeral Home, 1642 Pearl Road (one-half mile south of state Route 303), Brunswick.
Memorial donations may be made to the VA hospitals of Brecksville or Wade Park.
Eleanor R. Kubasta
Eleanor R. Kubasta, 79, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, after an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 28, 1921, in Akron and was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Akron. She retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. with 15 years of service.
Eleanor is survived by many devoted friends and family members, including daughters, Joanne (Peter) Mier of Grand Rapids, Mich., Carolyn (William) Grenfell of Medina and Kim (Christopher) Hanus of Houston; grandchildren, Scott and Jeff Mier, Elizabeth, Emily and Kathryn Grenfell, and Travis and Kaitlin Hanus; as well as best friend, Joyce Bates.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Bertha Rawles; husband, James D. Kubasta; and grandson, Michael Grenfell, who she joins in everlasting peace.
There will be no calling hours, however, friends of Eleanor are invited to celebrate her life at a memorial service in the Chapel at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1361 W. Market St., Akron, at 11 a.m. today.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Guillain Barre National Office, P.O. Box 262, Wynnewood, PA 19096.
The family would like to thank the people who cared for Eleanor over the many years of her illness, including the staff of Akron City Hospital, the staff of Rockynol, Dr. Michael Well and Mildred Bayer.
Eugene W. Sulzener Jr.
Eugene W. Sulzener Jr., 72, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at Akron General Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Sulzener was born in Stone Creek, Ohio, and resided in Sharon Center for 36 years. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a brick mason for 47 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and active in Highland Youth Football, where he was known as the "field marshal." He also was active with Boy Scout Troop 411, 4-H and the Medina County Fair.
Mr. Sulzener is survived by his wife, Velma (nee Rexroad); daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Ted Price of Palmyra, Pa.; sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene III and Vicki of Seville and Randy and Melina, Rick and Sherri, all of Sharon Township, and Rod and Stephanie of Creston; grandchildren, Dan, Andy, Jason, Matt, Melissa, Lee, Mitch, Christopher, Kyle, Tyler, Ryan, Brady and Riley; and sisters, Sara Mizer of New Philadelphia, Juanita Snyder of Sugarcreek and Mary Carol Kerr of Waukegan, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Sr. and Thelma Lehman Sulzener, and brother, Jack.
Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hilliard & Mullaney Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth. The Rev. Stephen K. Kummernuss will officiate.
Visiting hours: 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Interment: Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Carolyn M. Wagner
Carolyn M. Wagner (Smith), 64, formerly of Covina, Calif., passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's at Maison-Aine Nursing Home in Stow on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001.
She was born Feb. 19, 1936, in Lebanon, N.H.
She is survived by her loving husband, John Wagner of Medina; sons, Rick (Debi) McIntire of Plattsmouth, Neb., and John (Sue) Smith of Spencer, Mass.; daughters, Sandy (Les) Gaut of Rohnert Park, Calif., Kym (Dennis) Martin of Bellevue, Neb., and Karan (John) Ankney of Sharon Township; stepchildren, Earl (Toni) Wagner of California, Rodney Wagner of Missouri, Kathy (Greg) Wagner of California and James (Julie) Wagner of Arizona; and 22 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Sherwood Bond; mother, Sylvia Smith; and brothers, Albert and Richard Bond.

Mary L. White
Mary L. White, 59, of Wadsworth, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at Regency Park Nursing Facility in Orrville.
She was born in Seville and was a Medina County resident for 50 years. Mrs. White worked as a hostess for Bob Evans in Wadsworth and was a homemaker. Her priorities were her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph White; sons and daughters-in-law, Rex and Kim White of Crown Point, Ind., and Randy and Audrey White of Wadsworth; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Randy Fraley of Sterling; mother, Jean Buckholdt; brothers and sisters-in-law, Phillip and Phyllis Buckholdt of Wadsworth, Jon and Elsie Buckholdt of Bradenton, Fla., Gary and Bonnie Buckholdt of Doylestown, and Bob and Jan Buckholdt of Columbia, S.C.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Millard Carney of Elk Horn, Ky., and Kathy and Don Head of Parma Heights; sister, Karen Buckholdt of Wadsworth; grandchildren, Kendel White, Mary Fraley and Jamie White; and great-grandchild, Briana Sanders.

Fay L. Chambers
Fay L. Chambers, 93, of Medina, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at Evergreen Rehab & Specialty Care Center in Medina.
She was born in Canada and was a Medina County resident for 16 years. She was a homemaker and member of Medina First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Chambers is survived by her daughter, Dolores Keeling of Garden Grove, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Lee and Richard Bromley of Medina; and grandsons, Richard Bromley Jr., Gary (Rhonda) Bromley and Randy Keeling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest R. and sister, Ann Tapley.
Funeral: 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Waite & Son Funeral Homes, Medina Chapel, 765 N. Court St. Pastor William Cunningham will officiate.
Burial: Elmlawn Cemetery, Tonawanda, N.Y.

Alfred R. Frick, 95, recently of Medina, formerly of North Royalton, has passed away.
He was personnel manager at Republic Steel (LTV).
Mr. Frick is survived by his daughter, Jeanne (Frank) LoSchiavo; grandchildren, Lorraine Butts, Ronald Yandek and Kim Madden; stepgrandchildren, Sheryl (Jim) Ascherl, Frank LoSchiavo and Michelle (Brian) Mecoli; great-grandchildren, Gregory and Matthew Yandek; stepgreat-grandchildren, Alycia and Andrew Mecoli; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Isabella; parents, Albert Frick and Bertha (nee Haas) Frick; brothers and sisters, William and Albert Frick, Minnie Dubber, Clara Frick, Tillie Grosser, Martha Fathauer, Gertrude Kichl, Alma Grams and Hilda Vanderstein; and dearest companion, Muriel Cyrgalis.

William Chaky
William Chaky, 79, of Litchfield Township, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 1, 1921, in Cleveland and was a Medina County resident for 44 years. Mr. Chaky was a die maker for Par Industries and served in the Army during World War II. He also was a Purple Heart recipient.
He is survived by his daughters, Debra (Jeff) Gordon of Litchfield and Patti (Mark) Balog of Medina; son, William L. (Janet) Chaky of Flower Mound, Texas; grandchildren, Kim (Scott), Shawn (Erica), Trish, Beth, Allison, Kelsey, Mark, Jill and Patrick; great-grandchild, Logan; and sisters, Irene (Rich) Pernosky of California and Marge (Frank) Slyvasy of Seven Hills.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (nee Harney) and daughter, Brenda Chaky.
