Nettie R. Coreno
Nettie R. Coreno (nee Meador), 63, of Montville Township, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at her home.
She was born in Tupelo, Miss., on Aug. 23, 1937, and was a Medina County resident for 30 years. Mrs. Coreno was a homemaker. She loved gardening and sewing and enjoyed classical music.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph, of Montville, whom she married on Aug. 26, 1961; daughters, Susan (Michael) Carpenter of Medina and Kendra and Caroline Coreno, both of Montville; son, Michael of Montville; brother, Michael Meador of Guys, Tenn.; sister, Linda Humphrey of Guys; and her loving grandchildren, Adam and Ashleigh Carpenter.
Service: 11 a.m. Monday at Carlson, A Golden Rule Funeral Home, 3477 Medina Road (state Route 18 at River Styx Road), Medina. The Rev. Rebecca Belt will officiate.
Interment: Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.

Joseph J. Gurmo III
Joseph J. Gurmo III, 56, of Brunswick, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Marymount.
He was born Oct. 17, 1944, in New York. Mr. Gurmo was employed as a tattoo artist. He enjoyed motorcycles. Mr. Gurmo was a Green Beret in the Army.
He is survived by his sons, Joseph J. Gurmo IV of Brunswick and Nicholas J. Gurmo of Painesville; daughter, Dana; dear friend, Mary Bauman of Brunswick; and 14 brothers.
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Carlson, A Golden Rule Funeral Home, 1642 Pearl Road (one-half mile south of state Route 303), Brunswick.

Mary M. Kinney
Mary M. (Peggy) Kinney has passed away.
She was the dear mother of Roberta Spremulli, Patrick (Kathleen) of Chippewa Lake, Michael (Cindy) and MaryAnn (Frank) Smith; grandmother of seven; great-grandmother of two; and sister of Joseph, Bernie, Joanne and Richard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert.
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Carey Funeral Home, 6318 Lorain Ave., Cleveland.
Interment: Noon Tuesday at West Park Cemetery (3942 Ridge Road).

Donald R. Smith
Donald R. Smith, 48, of Medina, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Oberlin Hospital.
He was born Aug. 22, 1952, in Medina to Felix and Edith Smith and was a lifetime resident of Medina County. Mr. Smith loved fishing, hunting and golfing.
He is survived by his mother, Edith Smith of Medina; son, Isaac (Karen) Smith of Medina; daughter, Crystal (Jason) Claycomb of Medina; grandchildren, Jalen, Marshall, Cole, Autumn and Krystal; brothers, Joe (Virginia) Smith of Medina and Mickey (Jackie) Smith of Greenford, Ohio; and sisters, Jane Whitlam of Naples, Fla., and Joanie (Don) Wahl of Orange Park, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura; father, Felix Smith; and brother, Leroy Smith.
At Mr. Smith's request, his body will be cremated.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made in Don's name to Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City, 44280, to help defray funeral expenses.
Alma A. Keiter
Alma A. Keiter (nee Ketz), 97, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2001.
She was a resident of Samaritan Care Center of Medina, formerly of Hinckley.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Hier of Hinckley; sons, Robert (Doris), Raymond (Virginia) and Richard (Abigail); 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; nieces, Adeline Hartmiller and Ruth Howe; and nephew, Howard Ketz.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Brook S.; son-in-law, Hayden; and nephew, George Studier.
Service: 11 a.m. Monday at Busch Family Chapel, 4334 Pearl Road, Cleveland.
Interment: Lutheran Cemetery.

Linda E. Shaffer, 44, of Brunswick, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at University Hospitals.
She was born Sept. 13, 1956, in Cleveland and was a Brunswick resident for 27 years. Ms. Shaffer was the office manager at Life Care Center of Medina.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Shaffer of Brunswick; brothers, David of Brunswick and Gary (Heidi) Shaffer of Lafayette Township; nephew, Michael Koester of Louisville, Ky.; and niece, Tina Greenwell of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wilbert Shaffer, and sister, JoAnn.
Mass of Resurrection: 11 a.m. Monday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick.
Interment: Eastlawn Memory Gardens, Brunswick.

Lyle Hoskinson
Lyle Hoskinson, 64, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died Monday, April 2, 2001, at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Holidays Cove, Brooke County, W.Va., to Edward M. and Ruby M. Gibson Hoskinson. He served 20 years as a weights and measurement inspector for the West Virginia Department of Labor. He was an advertising representative for Vernon Co., Newton Manufacturing and, most recently, Kaeser-Blair Co. Mr. Hoskinson was a Kentucky Colonel and an admiral in the Cherry River Navy. He was Baptist by faith.
Mr. Hoskinson is survived by his wife, Janet Green Hoskinson; daughter, Anna M. Hoskinson of Knoxville, Tenn.; and brother, S. Paul Hoskinson of Seville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Hoskinson; and sister, Anna Hoskinson.
Service: 11 a.m. Thursday at Vaughan Funeral Home, 1010 Murdoch Ave., Parkersburg. The Rev. Chad Mugrage will officiate.
Burial: Sunset Memory Gardens.

Anna Lons
Anna Lons of Medina went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 3, 2001, in her 90th year.
She was born Dec. 7, 1911, and was a Medina County resident for 67 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was associated with Waltz Ladies Aid. Mrs. Lons was a homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Charles (June) Lons of Medina; daughter, Nancy (Ray) Pierce of Medina; grandchildren, Ann (Terry) Gasser, Raymond Pierce, Lorie (Jean) Cooper and Linda (Dave) Stallard; and great-grandchildren, Terry and Eric Gasser, James Cooper, and Derek and Rachel Stallard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and grandson, Charles Lons III.
Service: 11 a.m. Friday at Waite & Son Funeral Homes, Medina Chapel, 765 N. Court St. The Rev. William Cunningham will officiate.

Martha Mietz
Martha Mietz, 87, of Valley City, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, in Cleveland.
She was born Nov. 26, 1913, in Poland and was a Medina County resident for three years, previously living in Cuyahoga County. Mrs. Mietz was a garment worker for Joseph and Feiss.
She is survived by her daughters, Leokadia (Heinz) Radtke of Parma and Erika (Arthur) Jesse of Valley City; son, Reinhold Mietz of Medina; stepsister, Olli Freiheit of Germany; stepbrothers, Arthur and Rudy Kirschner, both of Germany; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Service: 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1330 N. Carpenter Road, Brunswick. Pastors John Diener and Ray Scholle will officiate.
Burial: Eastlawn Memory Gardens, Brunswick.

Lois L. Stewart
Lois L. Stewart, 89, of Lodi, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at West View Manor in Wooster.
She was born June 20, 1911, in Lodi to Gus and Ethel Baker Kaylor and was a resident of this area most of her life. She was a homemaker and enjoyed dancing and playing cards. Mrs. Stewart was a member of Lodi United Methodist Church and Lodi Chapter 137 Order of Eastern Star, where she held the offices of the Star points and served as worthy matron.
She is survived by her son, Ronald (Faye) Stewart of Lodi; granddaughters, Michelle (Steven) Pankuch of Seville and Marla (Steven) Harley of Burbank; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Michael Pankuch, and Josh, Brent and Tyler Harley; and brother, Dale Kaylor of Lodi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John C., in 1991; sister, Edna Vandemark; and brother, Don Kaylor.
Service: 2 p.m. Friday at Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi. The Rev. David Howell of Lodi will officiate.
Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery, Lodi.
Visiting hours: 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. Order of Eastern Star service will be held at 8:45 p.m. Thursday.

Betty L. Foster
Betty L. Foster, 79, of Cumberland, Ohio, passed away at her residence on Monday, April 23, 2001.
She was born Oct. 8, 1921, in Cleveland to Ransom and Clara (Wells) Emmons. Mrs. Foster was employed at Stu's Dry Cleaning in Brunswick for 30 years, retiring in 1980. She also worked at Rubbermaid in Wooster for three years. She was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Brunswick.
She is survived by her husband, Stewart M. Foster, whom she married on June 12, 1940; children, Russell R. Foster of Sharon Center, Jerry S. Foster of Brunswick, Rebecca (Allen) Dina of Chatham Township, James (Vicki) Foster of Medina, Deborah (Edward) Lively of Cumberland, Jan (Joni) Foster of Virginia Beach, Va., and Ron (Michelle) Foster of Spencer; 30 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen Beckett of Westlake.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Al and Floyd Emmons.
Service: 1 p.m. Friday at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, 7067 Cleveland Road, Wooster. The Revs. David Foster and George Gribbens will officiate.

Anne M. Raker
Anne M. Raker (nee O'Brien), 78, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at her residence after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Raker was born in Marietta and resided in Wadsworth for 59 years. She was a secretary at H.J. Hall Trucking Co. and a cashier at the East Street Market. She was a member of VFW Post 1089 Auxiliary and enjoyed bowling, crocheting and fishing.
Mrs. Raker is survived by her husband, Leo; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Judy of Lake Dallas, Texas, Jim and Marlene of Uniontown and Jerry of Akron; daughter and son-in-law, Mona and Don Wiesen of Rittman; eight grandchildren; sister, Virginia Pifer of Medina; brother-in-law, Joe Milici of Wadsworth; dear friend, Marge Miller of Wadsworth; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Eloise Milici, and brothers, Tom and Chet O'Brien.
Service: 11 a.m. Friday at Hilliard & Mullaney Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth. The Rev. Merlen Levering will officiate.
Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Wadsworth.
