Leona Hartings
Leona A. Hartings, 85, 1833 Harting Road, Maria Stein, died at 3:34 p.m. Dec. 31, 2000 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, where she was a resident.
She was born May 11, 1915, in St. Henry, to Leo and Theresa (Kothman) Hemmelgarn. On May 1, 1935, she married Lawrence Hartings, who died May 27, 1986.
Survivors are four daughters and their husbands, Dolores and Walter Shulze, Yorkshire, Eileen and Erwin Shulze, Cassella, Rosemary and Linus Lefeld, St. Henry, and Janice and Thomas Grieshop, New Bremen; three sons and their wives, Wilbert and Rosemary of St. Rose, Rich and Linda of St. Henry, and Ronald and Janice of St. Rose; a son-in-law and his wife, Frank and Ginny Mohlman, Coldwater; two sisters and their husbands, Teresa and Albert Steinbrunner, Fort Recovery, and Wilma and Cyril Everman, Maria Stein, and two sisters, Bertha Dippold, Cassella, and Clara Crube, Sharpsburg; two brothers and their wives, Andrew and Margaret Hemmelgarn, Cassella, and Leroy and Mildred Hemmelgarn, Celina; a sister-in-law, Agnes Huelsman, Coldwater; 42 grandchildren and 64 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Norma Mohlman, four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and its ladies sodality.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Milton Ballor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

Teresa Hiestand
Teresa K. Hiestand, 41, 886 Russ Road, Apt. 1, Greenville, died of natural causes at 3 a.m. Dec. 31, 2000 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
She was born Dec. 3, 1959, in Troy, to Rev. Kenneth and Janice (Hoblit) Baker, both whom survive in Celina.
Other survivors include a son, Kris Wentworth, Greenville; a brother and his wife, Rick and Hyun Mi Baker, Racine; a sister, Jana Baker, Celina; and grandmother, Betty Schulze, Versailles.
Deceased are grandparents Clarence R. Baker, and Orville and Sylvia Hoblit.
She was a member of the Abbotsville United Methodist Church, Arcanum, where she was the youth advisor. She was a 1978 graduate of Franklin Monroe High School.
Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, the Rev. Gordon Jones officiating. Burial is at Mote Cemetery.

David King
David L. King, 61, 5061 Ohio 117, Rockford, died at 10:20 a.m. Dec. 31, 2000 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind., following a short illness.
He was born Sept. 6, 1939, in Ironton, to Rev. Robert and Mildred (Holmes) King. On June 28, 1975, he married Helen L. Muter, who survives.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, David and Deb of Johnstown; two daughters, Kimberly Hall, Newark, and Kristine, Johnstown; a stepson, Mark Evans, Wapakoneta; three stepdaughters and their husbands, Diana and Darrel Howard, Sweetwater, Tenn., Susan and Ralph Moeller, Rockford, and Michelle and Brad Keith, Van Wert; a brother and his wife, Leroy and Sandra Lowe, Marion; a sister and her husband, Nancy and Bob Edinger, and a sister, Mary Ann Mihm, all of Van Wert; four sisters-in-law and their husbands, Betty and Larry Houser, Mary Lou and Dave Lehman, Suzanne and Art Christie, and Gloria and Fred Vann, all of Rockford; and five grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Eugene Lowe, and a sister, Frieda Treadway.
He was retired as a truck driver for Genova Trucking, Fort Wayne, Ind., and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was a member of Celina Baptist Temple.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Steve L. Clayton officiating. Burial is at Mount Olive Cemetery, Rockford.

Lillie Murphy
Lillie F. Murphy, 88, died Dec. 31, 2000 in Community Care Center in Winchester, Ind.
She was born April 28, 1912, in Somerset, Ky., to Sherman and Dorthulia (Cook) Foster. She was married to Worley L. Murphy, who is deceased.
Survivors are four sons, James L. of Richmond, Ind., Emmett of Celina, George Leroy of Pasadena, Calif., and Billy of Portland, Ind.; five daughters, Neva Roy of Florida, Dorothy Fenton, Winchester, Ind., Patsy Sommer, Deerfield, Ind., Treadesa Jackson, Portland, Ind., and Ireda Sue Mullen, Montgomery, Ala.; a half-brother, Joseph Green, Muncie, Ind.; 28 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Karen Smith, two brothers and a sister.
She was a homemaker.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fraze-Brooks & Good Funeral Home, Union City, Ind. Burial is at Lisbon Cemetery in Union City, Ind.

Geneva Paglow
Former St. Marys resident Geneva D. Paglow, 79, died at 12:15 p.m. Dec. 31, 2000 at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, Spencerville.
She was born May 24, 1921, in Auglaize County, to Henry F. and Mary Jane (Williams) Paglow.
Survivors include a sister, Myrtle G. Truesdale, Delphos, and eight nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Earl and Pearl.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in St. Marys.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Joachim K. Wilck officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.

Chester Schmidt
Chester L. Schmidt, 96, 1006 Cedar Drive, Celina, died at 12:35 a.m. Jan. 1, 2001 at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Feb. 17, 1904, in Celina, to Benjamin and Dora (McGillvary) Schmidt. On April 20, 1935, he married Marie Hatfield, who died March 22, 2000.
Survivors are a son and his wife, Douglas and Joyce of Celina; a daughter and her husband, Doris and Allen Morrow, Kokomo, Ind.; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers and four sisters.
He was retired as a self-employed painter and was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Celina.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. James C. Wilson II officiating. Burial is at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.

F.H. Steinbrunner
F.H. "Steinie" Steinbrunner, 87, died at 2:50 a.m. Dec. 22, 2000 at Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend, Ind.
He was born March 5, 1913, in Fort Recovery, to Joseph and Theresa (Hemmelgarn) Steinbrunner. On Nov. 7, 1937, he married Irene Wasikowski, who died March 18, 1992.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, Donna and Jerry Gill, and a daughter, Audrey Laskowski, all of South Bend, Ind.; a son and his wife, Dale and Carol of New Carlisle, Ind., and a son, Alan of South Bend, Ind.; two sisters, Odelia Miller, North Liberty, Ind., and Agnes LeFevre, Fort Recovery; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Leroy, two brothers, Clarence and Arthur, three sisters, Estella, Irma and Henrietta, and a grandson.
He was retired from Bendix Corp., South Bend, Ind.
Services were held Thursday at St. Joseph Funeral Home, South Bend, Ind., and the body was entombed at Resurrection Gardens Mausoleum in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend, Ind.
