Alfred Boeckman
Alfred A. Boeckman, 77, of Maria Stein, died at 9:41 a.m. March 23, 2001, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born Feb. 21, 1924, in Cassella to Frank and Vernoica (Uhlenhake) Boeckman. On Oct. 11, 1952 he married Virginia Ahlers who survives.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, Tim and Denise of St. Henry, and four grandchildren; sisters Josephine Stangle, Dayton, Alfreida Burnett, Cincinnati, sister-in-law Dorothy Boeckman, Fort Loramie.
Deceased are a brother, Othmar and a sister, Rita.
He was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Cassella, the Men's Society of the parish, Catholic Knights of America. He also served as a past Marion Township trustees. He was engaged in farming throughout his life.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Nativity Church, the Rev. James Dugal officiating. Burial will be at Nativity Cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. on Sunday, 9-10 a.m. on Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
Walter Hainline
Walter L. Hainline, 76, 4971 Fairground Road, Celina, died at 11:20 a.m. on March 23, 2001 at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born May 28, 1924 in Celina, to George and Dessie (White) Hainline. On May 5, 1988 he married Betty (Carey) Beougher, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons and daughter-in-law, Warren and JoAnne Hainline, Albemarle, N.C., Thomas Hainline, Polkton, N. C., one step son and his wife, Scott and Becky Klopfleisch, Allen, Texas, two step daughters and their husbands, Lori and Tim Thwaits, Carey, Karla and Doug Smith, Celina, four grandchildren, five step grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Arnold and Cloyd, two sisters, Gladys Hare and Dorothy Weitzel.
He was a retired cabinet builder who worked in Huron County and Englewood, Fla. and a World War II veteran who served with the U.S. Army.
Services will be privately held at the Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Kathleen Hayes, officiating. Burial will be at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.

Leroy Koenig
Leroy C. Koenig, 60, 607 E. Benton St., Wapakoneta, died at 1:40 p.m. on March 23, 2001, at SCCI-Lima Hospital, Lima.
He was born on April 16, 1940 in Wapakoneta, to Millard R. and Hilda F. (Schweitzer) Koenig. On June 27, 1964 he married Sharon L. Metzger who survives.
Other survivors are two sons and a daughter in-law, Kirk A. Koenig, Lima, Joseph and Kim Koenig, Wapakoneta; a daughter, Denice L. Koenig, Cincinnati; two granddaughters; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Evelyn and L.G. Carmean, St. Marys; Marilyn Wallace, Wapakoneta; Betty and Ronald Spyker, Wapakoneta; Patricia and Robert Sabo, Wapakoneta; and a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Jackie Koenig, Lima.
Deceased is a sister, Nancy Koenig.
He was a tool and die maker at General Dynamics Lima Tank Plant and a co-owner of Fred's East Side Market in Wapakoneta. He was a member of St. joseph Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 691, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8445, Amvets Post 333 and American Legion Post 330.
Services are 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, the Rev. William Eilerman officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta. Christian prayer services will be 5:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Calling is 2-5:30 p.m. Sunday at Long and Folk Funeral Home, Wapakoneta Chapel.

Marjorie Watt
Marjorie H. Watt, 75, 601 S. Main St., New Knoxville, died at 4:15 a.m. on March 23, 2001 at Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 21, 1925 in Bellefontaine, to Cecil E. and Sue H. (Grant) Jacobs. On Jan. 23, 1963, she married John Wallace Watt, who survives.
Other survivors are three daughters and their husbands, Ginger and William Holtkamp, New Knoxville, June and David Reichelderfer, Cridersville, Michaela and Richard Howe, New Knoxville; a son and his wife, James and Marylou Preston, Xenia; step-daughter, Marla Sue Watt, Fort Smith, Ark.; step son David Watt, Wapakoneta; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous step grand and great-grandchildren; two sisters and their husbands, Lee and Jim Hiser, Fort Wayne, Ind., Barbara and Charles Marker, Celina.
Deceased are two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was a homemaker and Avon products representative for 25 years. She was a member of New Knoxville United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a member and past president of the American Legion Post 444 Auxiliary and past grand marshall for the New Knoxville Fall Festival parade.
Services are 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the New Knoxville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mitch Arnold officiating. Burial will be at Pilger Ruhe Cometary, near New Knoxville.
The American Legion Post 444 Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home, 200 W. Spring St., New Knoxville. Contributions can be made to New Knoxville United Methodist Church organ fund.
Homer Baer
Homer E. Baer, 94, of Lima, died at 5:25 a.m. March 23, 2001 at Lima Convalescent Home.
He was born March 14, 1907, in Coldwater, to William Merkel and Henrietta (Maurer) Baer. On July 27, 1946, he married Lucille E. Foote, who died July 12, 1984.
Survivors include two sister-in-laws and nieces.
Deceased are three brothers, William J., John H., and Stanley L.
He was retired as a chief clerk with Norfolk and Western Railroad, and served in the 717 Operating Battalion, part of the 8th Army, in England, Belgium and Germany during World War II. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 241, Celina, BPOE 54 and American Legion. He was a graduate of College of Advance Traffic in Chicago, Ill., and Coldwater High School.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Chiles & Son-Laman Shawnee Chapel, Lima, the Rev. William Croy officiating. Entombment with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars 1275 will be held at Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Calling is from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Betty Blymyer
Betty G. Strayer Blymyer, 73, of rural Elida, died at 3:55 a.m. March 24, 2001 at Lima Convalescent Home.
She was born May 10, 1927, in Elida, to Gale and Ulalah (Boyer) Strayer. On Feb. 25, 1950, she married John R. Blymyer, who survives.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, Robert P. and Andrea Risner Blymyer, Elida; two daughters and their husbands, Susan Blymyer and James Mekolites, Elida, and Linda M. and Wayne Wiechart, Altamonte Springs, Fla.; a brother and his wife, William and Frances Strayer, Elida; and two grandchildren.
She was a retired registered nurse, serving the Allen County Health Department and was formerly employed at Lima Convalescent Home and St. Rita's Medical Center. She was a member of Market Street Presbyterian Church, Lima, St. Rita's Alumni Association and Amanda Township Farm Bureau group. She was a graduate of St. Rita's School of Nursing, and a 1945 graduate of Spencerville High School.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Richard L. Sheffield officiating. Burial is at Hartford Cemetery, northeast of Spencerville.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, and after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Pauline Poeppelman
Pauline H. Poeppelman, 88, formerly of Fort Loramie, died at 12:25 p.m. March 26, 2001 at Heritage Manor Nursing Center in Minster.
She was born Nov. 26, 1912, in Egypt, to Bernard and Catherine (Hartings) Albers. On June 5, 1935, she married Herman J. Poeppelman, who died Aug. 7, 1998.
Survivors are five daughters and their husbands, Marilyn and Cyril Hoelscher, Anita and Ted Barhorst, Janet and Norman Barhorst, and Mildred and Richard Eilerman, all of Fort Loramie, and Doris and LeRoy Kramer, Newport; four sons and their wives, Lavern and Mary Jo of Fort Loramie, Bob and Betty of Osgood, Bernard and Judy of Newport, and Paul and Dott of Russia; 35 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Thelma, a brother, four sisters, a grandchild and four great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and its St. Ann Rosary and Altar sodalities, and Knights of St. John Auxiliary 284, both of Fort Loramie. She was a promoter of the apostleship of Prayer of Church.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
