Paul Ontrop
Paul E. Ontrop, 45, 227 E. Union St., Portland, Ind., died March 10, 2002, at Jay County Hospital in Portland. Death was due to natural causes.
He was born Nov. 17, 1956, in Portland, to Ernest and Luella (Braun) Ontrop. They survive.
Also surviving are two brothers, Dennis of Fort Recovery and Howard of Portland; three sisters and their husbands, Carolyn and Dan Kirkendall, Decatur, Margie and Herbert May, Salamonia, Ind., and Mary Jo and Nick Delzeith, St. Henry; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a resident of the Jay-Randolph Developmental Program.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Portland, the Rev. Marty Sandhage officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery near Fort Recovery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland. Scripture services will be held there at 3 p.m.
Contributions can be made for Masses or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Dale Grevencamp
Coldwater native Dale E. Grevencamp, 54, of Reynoldsburg, died around 3:15 p.m. March 9, 2002, in a traffic accident near Kenton.
Grevencamp was driving along U.S. 68, when heavy winds reportedly caused his semitrailer to tip.
He was born Nov. 25, 1947, in Coldwater, to Eugene and Leola Grevencamp. The mother survives.
Also surviving are a brother and his wife, Theodore and Mary, and a brother, Eugene; three sisters and their husbands, Carol and Dean Jauchius, Marsha and Michael Justus and Constance and James Smith, and a sister, Diana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a brother Arthur.
He was employed by First Fleet Trucking Co. and was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Catharine Catholic Church, Columbus, with private burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling is 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home East Chapel, Columbus.

Michael Howard
Michael H. Howard, 59, Rauthland Avenue, Wapakoneta, died at 10:10 p.m. March 11, 2002, at Lima Memorial Hospital. Death was due to natural causes.
He was born Sept. 21, 1942, in Auglaize County, to Herbert and Ruth (Gierhart) Howard. On Feb. 21, 1961, he married G. "Jeri" Diedrich and she survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, Timothy and Jayne of Minster; two daughters and their husbands, Kelly and Gerald Varno and Lori and John Crawford, all of Wapakoneta; two brothers and their wives, Douglas and Terri of Wapakoneta and Rex and Hopi of Carnation, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Susie Wacker.
He retired as a truck driver with Teamsters Union Local 908 in Lima. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, and Trinity Lutheran Church, Moulton. His other memberships include Brands Lake Fishing Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 691 and AmVets Post 333, all of Wapakoneta; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1533, Indian Lake; and Chapter U of the Honda Club, Chained Eagles and American Legion Post 96, all of Lima.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. at the Wapakoneta church with the Revs. William Eilerman and Joy Miller officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Long & Folk Chapel of Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta. An Eagles memorial service is planned at 7:45 p.m. followed by an 8 p.m. prayer service.

Donna Niemeyer
Donna D.L. Niemeyer, 73, 431 Canal St., New Bremen, died at 5:15 p.m. March 11, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Jan. 1, 1929, near New Bremen, to William and Amanda (Kamman) Tontrup. On July 28, 1951, she married Frank Niemeyer Jr. and he died Feb. 24, 1984.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Jeff and Barbara of London; a daughter and her husband, Deborah and Gerald Bergman, Rossburg; a sister, Lilas Quellhorst, New Bremen; four grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, seven stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, Richard, Alton, Wilbur and Louis Tontrup, and a sister, Mary Jane Montgomery.
She retired from Crown Equipment Corp. after 29 years of service. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, the Senior Citizens and the Crown Corp. 25 Year Club, all of New Bremen.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, the Rev. John W. Tostrick officiating. Burial will be at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 3-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Evelyn Burd
Evelyn L. Burd, 64, 111 Oak St., Celina, died at 12:50 p.m. March 13, 2002, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born Sept. 8, 1937, in Van Wert, to John and Marjorie (Smith) Miller. On March 2, 1955, she married Harry Burd and he died April 7, 1990.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, David and Michelle of Newark and Daniel and Amy of Celina; a daughter and her husband, Sharon and Tony Gross, Coldwater, and two daughters, Shirley Shurelds, Lima, and Deanna Burd, Celina; two brothers, Dean Miller, Mountain Home, Idaho, and Carl Miller, Middlepoint; a sister, Donna Enoch, Middlepoint; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers and two sisters.
She worked as a dispatcher for the Celina Police Department and later retired from Huffy Corp., Celina. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Loyal Order of Moose, both of Celina; the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, both of Van Wert; and the St. Marys American Legion Auxiliary. She had served as past matron of Hawthorne Chapter, Order of Eastern Stars, St. Marys.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Robert Metheny officiating. Burial will be at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Gregory Hartings
Gregory A. Hartings, 77, 614 W. Plum Drive, Coldwater, died at 12:18 p.m. March 13, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. Death was due to complications following a stroke.
He was born Jan. 7, 1925, in Chickasaw, to Albert and Anna (Homan) Hartings. On Aug. 25, 1951, he married Joan Timmerman and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons and their wives, David and Donna of San Diego, Calif., and Marvin and Janice of Coldwater; a daughter and her husband, Mary and Dave Hart, Coldwater; two brothers and their wives, Louis and Irene of Minster, and Bernard and Esther of St. Henry; two sisters and their husbands, Esther and William Knapke, St. Henry, and Hilda and Harold Meyer, Minster; and six grandchildren.
He retired from Crown Equipment Corp., New Bremen.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, the Rev. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
Brenda Holbrook
Brenda Holbrook, 54, 14313 Allen Road, Southgate, Mich., formerly of St. Marys, died at 12:41 p.m. March 12, 2002, in the emergency room at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Mich. Death was due to natural causes.
She was born Jan. 13, 1947, in Melvin, Ky., to Brownlow and Mary (Mullins) Holbrook.
Surviving are a brother and his wife, Woodrow and Janice of Prudinville, Mich.; a sister and her husband, Linda and Francis Guerrero, Southgate, with whom she made her home; and seven nieces and nephews.
She was employed at Service to Enhanced Potential in Wyandott, Mich. She was a member of Old Regular Baptist Church.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, Brother Zee Holbrook officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton.
