Clarence Bruns
Clarence J. Bruns, 82, 2156 Oak St., Maria Stein, died at 7:30 a.m. March 17, 2002, at Community Hospital, Coldwater, following a sudden illness.
He was born April 7, 1919, in Maria Stein, to John and Philomena (Vehorn) Bruns. On June 6, 1942, he married Velma Heitkamp and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons and their wives, Jerry and Sandy and Ron and Roselyn, all of Maria Stein, and James and Carolyn of Celina; three daughters and their husbands, Marlene and Ron Tuente, Yorkshire, Bonnie and Brian Dahlinghaus and Pam and Jim Fleck, all of Maria Stein, and a daughter, Shirley Hopple, Evanston, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Luella Bruns, Minster; 23 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers and three sisters.
He was a retired farmer and a member of St. John Catholic Church, the Men's Sodality of the church and Knights of St. John Commandry 313, all of Maria Stein.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Kenneth Schroeder officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
John Eaton
John Eaton, 60, 07446 Lynch Road, St. Marys, died March 15, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 3, 1941, in Seneca County, to Walter Smith and Julia (Messinger) Smith Yost. She survives with the stepfather, Gerald Yost, in Tiffin. His adopted father, Robert Eaton, is deceased. On Aug. 17, 1963, he married Sally Von Gunten and she survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, Sean and Marty of Union; three daughters and their husbands, Cathleen and Christopher Gilbert, Lake Orion, Mich., Cheryl and Dayle Varuska, St. Marys; and Carrie and Larry Roell, Harrison, and two daughters, Cicely of Celina, and Mary of Cincinnati; two brothers and their wives, Tom and Helen Eaton and Robert Jr. and Julie Eaton, all of Tiffin; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Edna Von Gunten, Berne, Ind.; and seven grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Joseph Storehaulder and David Eaton.
A 1959 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School, he attended Bluffton College and Ohio Northern University. He had taught at Mohawk High School and Memorial High School, St. Marys, and was the owner of John Eaton Construction Co., St. Marys. He had served as track coach while teaching in St. Marys.
He was a lay distributor at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Glynnwood, a former 4-H adviser and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree Knights, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 767, St. Marys, and the Loyal Order of Moose, Tiffin.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Patrick Church, the Rev. Oscar Seger officiating. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery, Glynnwood.
Calling is 3-9 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.

Dorothy Eichenauer
Dorothy M. Eichenauer, 92, 1300 Mercer Ave., Decatur, Ind., died at 6:30 a.m. March 17, 2002, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 28, 1910, in Decatur, to Dallas W. and Bertha (Swartz) Spuller. On Feb. 29, 1936, she married Raymond F. Eichenauer and he died Feb. 2.
Surviving are three sons, Roger A. of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Dr. David F. and Max A., both of Decatur; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, H. Paul and Clarence Spuller.
She graduated from Decatur High School and Ball State University with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Decatur, Fort Wayne Chapter 432 of the Order of Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma International Group of Teachers, Indiana State Retired Teachers and the Adams County Retired Teachers. She was a former member and past worthy matron of Decatur Chapter of OES, an honorary member of the Art Department of the Decatur Women's Club and Bethany Evangelical United Brethren Church, where she had served as pianist, organist and children's department superintendent.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's church. Burial will be at Decatur Cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur, and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. An OES service is planned at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

James Quinlin
James W. Quinlin, 69, 2091 Ohio 705, died at 12:55 a.m. March 16, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, where he had been a patient one month.
He was born July 2, 1932, in Dayton, to Edmund and Cecelia (Gruener) Quinlin. On May 7, 1932, he married Dorothy M. Bornhorst and she survives.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Douglas and Jill of Findlay, and a son, Gregory of Fort Loramie; a daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Mark Drees, Russia; two sisters and their husbands, Barbara and Bill King, Cincinnati and Mary Kathryn and James Mescher, Fort Loramie, and a sister, Sheila of Fort Loramie; a sister-in-law, LaDonna Quinlin, Minster; and five grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Thomas.
He was a retired mason, former owner of Willman's Store, former owner of the first drive-thru carryout in Fort Loramie and a retired bus driver with the Fort Loramie Schools. A 1950 graduate of Fort Loramie High School, he served as a paratrooper with the 77th Special Forces during the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, a 50-year member of the Fort Loramie Fire Department, a former Fort Loramie Village Council member and a member of the St. Michael Hall Building Committee. He was a past commander and life member of Fort Loramie American Legion Post 355.

Larry Schisler
Larry A. Schisler, 64, Mallard Point, Mount Vernon, died March 15, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 16, 1938, in Berlin Center, to Clarence and Wanheta (Allen) Schisler.
Surviving with his wife, the former Janet Klontz, are a son and his wife, Kurt and Sandy of Mount Vernon, and a son, Erik of Columbus; a daughter and her husband, Wendy and Michael Gabes, St. Marys; a sister and her husband, Charlene and Lynn Fields, Berlin Center; and a brother, Ronald of Canfield.
He was a 1956 graduate of Berlin Center High School and a graduate of Bliss Business College, Columbus. He was the founding partner of Dennis & Schisler Inc., a public accounting firm, and had been a broker with Capital Securities, both of Mount Vernon.
He attended the Gay Street United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Ohio Society of CPAs and the Town Club of Mount Vernon.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Mildred Granger
Mildred Granger, 85, formerly of Celina, died at 12:40 p.m. March 16, 2002, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born June 23, 1913, in Mercer County, to Joseph B. and Frances (Siebert) Cordier. On June 23, 1934, she married Kenneth L. Granger and he died Dec. 11, 1984.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Dr. John K. and Beverly of Celina; two daughters and their husbands, Linda L. and Ronald Smith, Granger, Ind., and Gail L. and Trevor Wilson, Chardon; and five grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, John F. Cordier.
She was a homemaker and a 1930 graduate of Celina High School. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Don Ramsey officiating. Burial will be at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

James Longenecker
James Richard "Dick" Longenecker, 79, of Covington, who served as Mercer County Engineer from 1980 to 1983, died March 17, 2002, at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.
He was born April 4, 1922, in Greenville, to Otto and Margaret (McMaken) Longenecker.
Surviving with his wife of 50 years, the former Jane Ann Hoeflich, are a son and his wife, Rick and Sandy of Covington; a brother and his wife, Keith and Mary Jane of Boise, Idaho; and a grandson.
Deceased are a daughter, Sue Ann, and a sister, Norma Major.
He graduated from Ohio State University with a bachelor of engineering degree and retired as director of operation from the Ohio Department of Transportation in 1990 after 40 years of service. He then worked as a civil engineer with M-E Companies in Cincinnati before retiring in 2001. An Army Air Force veteran of World War II, he also served in the Air Force Reserves and retired as commander of the reserve unit at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in 1972.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Covington, and a past member of the County Engineers Association, Confederate Air Force, Private Pilots Association and the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Hilbert Piehl and Sam Hoeflich officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, Covington. The Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. today at Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Covington.
