Robert Raudabaugh
Former Celina resident Robert Raudabaugh, 84, of Villa Park, Ill., died Jan. 28, 2002, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Elmhurst, Ill.
He was born Sept. 30, 1918, in Celina, to John William and Ethel (Dine) Raudabaugh. On Feb. 5, 1949, he married Julianne Porebski. His death occurred on her 82nd birthday.
Surviving with the wife are three sons, Randy of Florida, Gary of Wisconsin and Ronald of St. Charles, Ill.; two daughters, Darlene of Florida and Bobbi of Lombard, Ill.; and 11 grandchildren.
A veteran tax attorney and accountant, he was educated at Ohio State University and New York University. He served as a codebreaker for U.S. Army Counter-Intelligence during World War II and later worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Chicago before joining a law firm. He often helped friends and neighbors with legal concerns on a pro bono basis.
He served on the Villa Park Village Board of Trustees for 11/2 terms during the mid-1970s. More recently, he was a member of the Villa Park Economic Development Commission. He also worked on boards that oversaw the creation and construction of Sugar Creek Golf Course and Fire Station #3. He returned to Mercer County each year to serve as master of ceremony for gatherings of his Celina High School graduating class.
Funeral services were held at the Villa Park Community Congregational Church. The body was cremated and a burial service is planned later at Veterans Memorial Cemetery near Joliet, Ill.

Howard Craft
Howard M. Craft, 79, 17370 River Road, St. Marys, died at 8:17 p.m. March 14, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Feb. 11, 1923, in Auglaize County, to Carl F. and Golda L. (McBride) Craft.
Surviving with his wife, the former Marilyn H. Shimp, are two sons and their wives, Myron and Sharon and Joel and Sue, all of St. Marys, and two sons, H. Marion of Lynn Haven, Fla., and Reuben of Indianapolis, Ind.; two daughters, Trelia and Sarah, also of Indianapolis; a brother, Bernard C. of Crawfordsville, Ind.; a sister, Eilene Hauenschild, Cincinnati; three grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Warren, Wayne and Richard, and a sister, Frances.
He formerly worked at Weston Paper and Reynolds & Reynolds Co. He was a graduate of St. Marys High School and a World War II veteran, serving with the Army's First Armored Division of Combat Engineers in North Africa and France. He was a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, both of St. Marys. He was also a member of the Auglaize County Farm Bureau.
Private funeral services will be held at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Eugene Herman
Eugene Herman, 84, 304 N. Wayne St., St. Marys, died at 8:53 a.m. March 19, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born June 27, 1917, in Burkettsville to Henry and Elizabeth (Wildenhaus) Herman. On Nov. 29, 1945, he married Eileen Klosterman and she survives.
Also surviving are four daughters and their husbands, Jeralyn and Jack Howley, Dallas, Texas, Jacquelyn and Steve Guy, Englewood, Jill and Greg Pfenning, Martin, Tenn., and Julie and Leno Bovenzi, Dayton, and two daughters, Jane Miars, St. Marys, and Judith Gillespie, Houston, Texas; one son and his wife, Robert and Mary of Englewood, and two sons, Craig and Jonathan, both of St. Marys; a brother, Paul of Celina; three sisters, Eileen Wooles, Kettering, Lucille Rackham, Pagosa Springs, Colo., and Joanne Straubinger, Tallahassee, Fla.; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two daughters, Jyneen Folck and Janet Herman; a son, Eugene Thomas; a sister, Marge Temple; and a grandson.
He was a 1935 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School, Celina, and a graduate of Purdue University. A U.S. Army veteran, he served as a captain of the Corps of Engineers and earned a presidential commendation for his service. He retired as a mechanical engineer at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where he had served as an usher and choir member, the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9289 and American Legion Post 323, all of St. Marys. He was a former Boy Scout leader and Scoutmaster and helped establish the Avenue of Flags near St. Marys.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. David Heinl officiating. Military graveside rites will be at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, where the Legion and VFW will hold a joint memorial service at 7 p.m.
Contributions can be made to the church organ fund or Mercer-Darke County Hospice.

Virginia Schroyer
Virginia E. Schroyer, 85, 1600 Meadowview Drive, died at 7:30 p.m. March 19, 2002, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
She was born April 6, 1916, in Mercer County, to Jacob and Alma (Denman) Brinkman. On April 22, 1934, she married George D. Schroyer and he died Nov. 20, 1992.
Surviving are a son and his wife, George and Marie of Celina; a daughter and her husband, Rosalie and Paul Nininger, Columbus; a brother, Lowell Brinkman, Celina; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, James Brinkman.
She and her husband owned and operated Tama Home Store from 1936 to 1947. They also worked as clerks at public auctions until retirement. She was a member of Mount Tabor Church of God and the women's society of the church. She had served as church treasurer for 30 years.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Jim Keiser officiating. Burial will be at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
Contributions can be made to the church.

Maurice Simpson
Maurice L. Simpson, 67, 6950 Hamilton Road, Mendon, died at 5:20 p.m. March 19, 2002, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 3, 1934, in Auglaize County, to Russel and Millie (Bowers) Simpson. On Aug. 1, 1976, he married Betty Thomas and she survives.
Also surviving are a brother, Lloyd of Mendon; a sister and her husband, Virginia and Ross Webb, Mendon; and a sister-in-law, Frances Simpson, Phoenix, Ariz.
Deceased are two brothers, Homer and Harold, and two sisters, Addie and Pauline.
He was a retired farmer and sexton at Mendon Cemetery.
Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Revs. Dean Bruce and Paul Bunnell officiating. Burial will be at Mendon Cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the Celina Area Visiting Nurses Daycare Center.

Mark Clark
Mark E. Clark, 46, Northview Mobile Home Court, 208 Second Ave., Coldwater, died at 5 p.m. March 11, 2002, at Community Hospital, Coldwater. Death was due to natural causes.
He was born Dec. 29, 1955, in Greenville, to Harry L. and Jessie M. (Lutz) Clark. On May 18, 1988, he married Linda Brown and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Mark A. of Florida; two sisters and their husbands, Sonia and Jim Jacobs, Celina, and Vickey and John Holderman, Ansonia, and a sister, Marlene Ison, Greenville; and two brothers and their wives, David and Janet and Elmer and Rhonda, all of Greenville.
Deceased are a daughter, Michelle; two brothers, Harry Jr. and Ronnie; and two sisters, Barbara Partin and Patty Yount.
He was a Coldwater High School graduate.
No viewing or graveside service was held, but a memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Greenville.

Norman Poor
Norman E. Poor, 79, 1103 Yorkshire Court, Celina, died at 2:50 a.m. March 20, 2002, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
He was born May 23, 1922, in Anderson, Ind., to Cary and Florance (Weaver) Poor. On Feb. 26, 1981, he married Juanita Christian and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Cindy Butler and Sue Grothaus, both of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a stepson and his wife, Gary and Debra VanTilburg, Celina, and a stepson, Mark VanTilburg, Angola, Ind.; four grandchildren, 5 stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and retired from Fort Wayne Newspapers.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Randy Christian officiating. Burial will be at Mendon Cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
