Desolea Meyer
Desolea Meyer, 94, 1001 Myers Road, Celina, formerly of 309 E. Fulton St., Celina, died at 1:30 a.m. March 25, 2002, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 2, 1907, in Celina, to Clyde and Louise (Stalder) Meyer.
Surviving is her caretaker, Jo An Shaffer, Celina, and several cousins.
Deceased is a brother, Paul M. Meyer.
She was retired as a supervisor for GTE in Celina. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church since 1917 and a former member of the church's Martha Circle.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Kathleen Hayes officiating. Burial is at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is noon Wednesday until the time of services.

Susan Myers
Susan P. Myers, 56, 915 Parkway Drive, St. Marys, died at 8:10 a.m. March 23, 2002, at Lima Memorial Hospital, following complications of surgery.
She was born March 24, 1945, in Adrian, Mich., to Coyle and Garnette (Gore) Mort. On Dec. 4, 1976, she married Donald Myers who survives.
Other survivors are a daughter, Nikki Franke, Scott; three stepsons, Walter of St. Marys, Todd of Spencerville and Nick of Indianapolis, Ind.; three stepdaughters, Deb Grace, Montezuma; Paulette Hoenie, Celina, and Holly Bell, Mendon; two brothers, George and Fred Mort, both of Adrian, Mich.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are her parents and a brother, John Mort.
She was a homemaker and a graduate of Adrian High School.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys. Private family burial rites will be held.
Calling is noon Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home.
Marie Schmidt
Fort Recovery native Marie E. Schmidt, 98, died March 22, 2002, at Beechnoll, Cincinnati.
She was born Aug. 17, 1903, in Fort Recovery, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Gebele) Roessner. On May 17, 1927, she married Louis G. Schmidt who died June 6, 1987.
Surviving are five sons and their wives, L. Joseph and Marge of Anna, Daniel and Jean of Hamilton, Raymond and Eunice of Mineral Wells, Texas, Bennett and Betty of Mendon, and Evan and Janace, Geneva, Ind., and a son, Rev. Les of Big Stone Gap, Va.; five daughters and their husbands, Julienne and Carl Rehmert, Maria Stein, Rosalyn and Joe Darby and Margo and Ivo Rammel,
all of West Union, Karen and Walter Steinbrunner, Fort Recovery, and Arlene and Michael Weaver, Cincinnati, and a daughter Mary Thomas, Cincinnati; a sister, Estelle Rosenbeck, Dayton; 52 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She worked as a bookkeeper at Fett & Kimmel Mfg. Co. in Bluffton and later at Glenmary Home Missioners. She was a member of the Catholic Mission Churches of Adams County.
Services are 10 a.m. today at St. Marys Queen of Heaven, Peebles. Burial is at Les Schmidt Memorial Park Cemetery.
Calling was Sunday at Brooke-Lafferty-Wallace Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles.

Urban Hess
Urban F. Hess, 84, 141 Rinderle Drive, St. Henry, died at 5:30 a.m. today, March 26, 2002, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born July 23, 1917, in Carthagena, to Henry and Margaret (Hoelscher) Hess.
On May 8, 1946, he married Adella M. Grevenkamp and she survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, Donald and Donna of St. Henry; a daughter and her husband, Patricia and Harold Krieg, Fort Recovery; a brother and his wife, Victor and Mary of Coldwater, and a brother, Art of Tennessee; a sister and her husband, Rita and Bernard Hoying, Montezuma, and a sister, Monica Grevenkamp, Cassella; a sister-in-law, Eleanora Coldwater; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Jerome; two sisters, Bertha Beckstedt and Mary Magdeline; and a great-grandchild.
He retired from the former Avco New Idea, Coldwater. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Aleutian Islands during World War II, and a life member of the St. Henry American Legion. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and the Catholic Knights of America.
A Scripture service is planned at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial with full military rites by the Legion will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 3-9 p.m. Friday and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.

Alvira Booher
Alvira A. Booher, 63, 331 N. Wayne St., St. Marys, died at 11:54 a.m. March 26, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, following a short illness.
She was born April 13, 1938, in Minster, to Vernon and Alvira (Dues) Gudorf.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, George and Elizabeth of Salinas, Calif., and Vince and Chris of St. Marys; a daughter and her husband, Angie and John Shirk, Greenville, and a daughter, Flo Demsey, Billings, Mont.; a brother and his wife, Tom and Faye Gudorf, Fort Loramie; a brother, Vernon John Gudorf, Valparaiso, Ind.; a sister and her husband, Mary and Bob Eagle, Columbus; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She was a homemaker and member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Sidney.
Funeral Mass is 1 p.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Louis Schmit officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Calling is 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
Rosemary Hawkey
Rosemary Hawkey, 72, 130 Hamilton St., Celina, died at 1:35 a.m. March 26, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born April 30, 1929, in Chattanooga, to Jesse and Barbara (Daughtery) Huston. On July 3, 1947, she married Charles D. Hawkey and he survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, Randy and Becca of St. Marys; a son, Charles David Jr., Celina; three daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Larry Sattler, Connie and Joe Tebbe and Kim and Randy Highley, all of Celina; two brothers, Glenn Huston and Kenneth Huston, both of Celina; a sister, Ruth Shadrach, Celina; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Rose Marie Hawkey; four brothers, a sister and a grandson.
She retired from Huffy Corp. in Celina.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Alfred Carter officiating. Burial will be at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
