Leonard Homan
Leonard C. Homan, 72, formerly of Ohio 119, Maria Stein, died at 8:22 a.m. March 25, 2003, at Versailles Health Care Center.
He was born March 30, 1930, in Maria Stein, to Lawrence and Mary (Schulte) Homan. On Oct. 4, 1952, he married Alice Pleiman who died March 11, 1992.
Surviving are five sons, Ronald (Joan) of Russia, Richard (Lori) and Robert J. (Michelle), all of Maria Stein, Roger (Michele) of Minster, and Roy (Marcia) of Bowling Green, Ky.; a brother, Othmar (Rita) of Maria Stein; five sisters, Mary Ann (Maurice) Homan and Dolores (Maurice) Cron, all of Coldwater, Irene (Roger) Will, St. Sebastian, Viola (Lester) Stammen, St. Henry, and Dorothy (Daniel) Eifert, Cassella; and 12 grandchildren.
He retired as a dispatcher from Springcreek Corp. and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Men's Sodality, both of Maria Stein, and a member and past commander of Maria Stein American Legion Post 571.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Kenneth Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with the Legion conducting military rites.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

Betty Murphy
Betty Murphy, 77, 400 E. Warren St., Celina, died at 8:05 p.m. March 25, 2003, at the home of a daughter.
She was born Dec. 8, 1925, in Darke County, to Oliver and Mary Goodpaster Coby. On Sept. 23, 1942, she married Jack Murphy who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Roy (Robbie) of Mendon; two daughters, Karen Gillis and Jill Buck, both of Celina; a son-in-law, Robert Ritchie Jr., Celina; four brothers, Wayne (Martha) Coby, Celina, Junior (Ruby) Coby, Greenville, Bob (Ozzie) Coby, Ansonia, and Larry (Jan) Coby, Winchester, Ind.; a sister, Dorothy (Jack) Schmitt, Celina; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Nancy Ritchie; a son-in-law, Tom Gillis; and a brother, Gerald Coby.
She was a homemaker and helped her daughter deliver The Daily Standard for 14 years.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Thomas Christen officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Richard Wood
Richard W. Wood, 61, 208 E. Wiggs St., Fort Recovery, died at 12:35 p.m. March 25, 2003, at his residence following a six-month illness.
He was born July 22, 1941, in Cleveland, to Edward and Ruth Jenisek Wood. On Feb. 14, 1959, he married Virginia Carter who survives.
Also surviving are five sons, Dave (Pat), Jim (Judy), Phil and Tom, all of Fort Recovery, and Steve (Lisa) of Portland, Ind.; a daughter, Charlotte (Scott) Haase, Columbus; two brothers, Don of Fort Recovery and Ralph (Debbie) of Columbia, Mo.; two sisters, Barb Lockwood, Aztec, N.M., and Carolyn (Phil) Ahlers, Fort Recovery; 15 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A son, Jerry, is deceased.
He retired from Fort Recovery Industries. An antique dealer, he and his wife were co-owners of Rich & Ginny's Furniture in Fort Recovery. He was a 1959 graduate of Fort Recovery High School and a member of New Life Ministries Church, Portland, Ind.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fort Recovery Church of the Nazarene, the Rev. Verl Ballmer officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.

Elizabeth Schlarman
Elizabeth R. "Liz" Schlarman, 69, 8373 Ohio 705, Osgood, died at 6:10 a.m. March 24, 2003, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Oct. 7, 1933, in Yorkshire, to Anton and Sophia Hoelscher Wenning. On Sept. 17, 1955, she married Hugo Schlarman who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Ron, and a daughter, Tina Williams, both of Riverside; two brothers, Cletus (Lois) Wenning, Osgood, and Leo (Margie) Wenning, Yorkshire; three sisters, Josephine Bruns, Yorkshire, Rita Bollheimer, Fort Loramie, and Theresa Alexander, Russia; a sister-in-law, Frances Wenning, Dayton; and two grandchildren.
Deceased are three children, Jerome, Thomas and Anna Marie, who died in infancy, and a brother, Henry Wenning.
She had served as the Osgood area correspondent for several newspapers in the area. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and St. Barbara Ladies Sodality, both of Osgood. She also was a Cub Scout leader and a church decorator.

Harriett Welch
Former Celina resident Harriett A. Welch, 76, of North Fort Myers, Fla., died at 6:30 a.m. March 22, 2003, at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Fla.
She was born Oct. 30, 1926, in Battle Creek, Mich., to George and Maureen DeCamp. On Aug. 14, 1943, she married H. James Welch who died March 13.
Surviving are a son, Jim (Carol) of Punta Gorda, Fla.; a daughter, Janet (Bruce) Cromwell, Celina; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Deceased is one son, Kenneth Gene.
She founded and was co-owner of Welch's Restaurant in Celina for 30 years. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Celina.
A joint memorial services for her and her husband will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Thelma Bissell
Thelma B. Bissell, 91, 3601 Ohio 703, Celina, died March 22, 2003, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Oct. 2, 1911, in East Liverpool, to Andrew and Clara Plate Smith. On May 27, 1927, she married Clyde Bissell who died May 26, 2002.
Surviving are a son, Dale (Beverly) of Celina; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Albert Blaine; a brother, Earl Smith; and a sister, Josephine Smith.
She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Union United Brethren in Christ Church, Spencerville
Services are 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Dale Bissell officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Spring Grove Cemetery, East Liverpool.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Elfrieda Fullenkamp
Elfrieda R. Fullenkamp, 91, of Minster, formerly of Dayton, died at 7:45 p.m. March 22, 2003, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.
She was born Jan. 28, 1912, in Minster, to George and Mary Senger Baumer. In 1945, she married Bernard Fullenkamp who died May 14, 1961.
Deceased are four brothers, Ed, Herman, Richard and Victor Baumer, and a sister, Rosetta Berning.
She was a housekeeper, a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, and a former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Dayton.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Minster church, the Rev. Mark Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
