Joseph Eilerman
Joseph L. Eilerman, 81, 17333 Hardin-Wapak Road, Botkins, died March 7, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He was born Oct. 5, 1921, in North Star, to Bernard and Elizabeth Kaiser Eilerman. Jan. 28, 1948, he married Oliva Wehrman, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, John (Jenny) of Wapakoneta, and Herbert of Botkins; four daughters, Bernadette (Louis) Seger, Piqua, Doris (Clem) Prenger, Harpster, Madonna (Don) Ellinger, Wapakoneta, and Peg (James) Stang, Russia; two brothers, the Rev. William of Wapakoneta and Alfred (Joann) of North Star; a sister, Eleanor (Luke) Liette, Culver, Ind.; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Rev. Herbert, Bernard and Paul, and a sister, Mary.
He was a retired dairy farmer. He was a veteran of the Army 99th Division at the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Botkins and was a member of the National Farmers Organization.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. William Eilerman and Rev. Patrick Slonecker officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 1-7 p.m. Sunday at 9-10 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
John Porch
John Porch, 80, 632 S.W. 27th St., Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Celina, died March 6, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 2, 1923, in Lucer Pines, Pa., to Paul and Mary Kish Porch. On June 24, 1950, he married Viola Jordan, who is deceased.
Survivors are two daughters, Debra (Michael) Powell of Mendon, Diane of Cape Coral, Fla.; three sisters, Helen Verdi, Anaheim Hills, Calif., Joan Decarlo and Irene Morales, Homer City, Pa.; four brothers, Joe of Georgetown, Texas, Bob of North Fort Myers, Fla., Louis of Brookpark, and Paul of Homer City, Pa.; and two grandchildren.
Deceased are an infant daughter and two sisters, Mary Nardi and Elizabeth.
He was a plant manager and vice president of operations at Huffy Bicycles in Celina. He retired in 1983. He served in the Army for three years during World War II. He attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church while he resided in Celina.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lehman Funeral Home in Celina, the Rev. Kenneth Baker officiating. Burial follow at Mercer Memory Gardens in Celina.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Richard Rohrer
Richard W. Rohrer, 80, 504 Ohio 49, Fort Recovery, died March 6, 2003, at his residence.
He was born May 20, 1922, in New Weston, to William and Catherine Livingston Rohrer. On June 2, 1945, he married Georgia Purtee who died Dec. 8, 1987.
Surviving are two brothers, Ernest (Elaine) of Fort Recovery and Jerry (Ardith) of Union City; and two sisters, Norma Smith and Bernice McDowell, both of Fort Recovery.
Deceased are two sisters, Rosellan Ruhenkamp and Salome Glassfard.
He had worked as a truck driver and was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery.
Funeral Mass was 10:30 a.m. today at the church, the Rev. Paul Wohlwend officiating. Burial followed at St. Marys Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
The family received friends in the church undercroft following Mass.
Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, had charge of arrangements.
Tennyson Strawn
Tennyson "Tenny" Royce Strawn, 65, 207 W. Market St., Mendon, died March 6, 2003, at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Fla.
He was born Aug. 17, 1939, in Rockford, to Harley Edward and Erma Evelyn Kline Strawn. On Aug. 21, 1955, he married Margaret Kline, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Dennis (Betty) of Celina and John (Denise) of Mendon; three daughters, Cheryl (Mike) Zumberge and Rhonda (Mick) Stose, all of Celina, and Christina (John) Sutter, Fort Recovery; a brother, Dean of Wabash; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry.
He retired in 1999 from Chapman's Body Shop, Celina. He attended Mendon Church of God.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cowan and Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Dean Bruce officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Richard Clark
Richard "Dick" Edward Clark, 84, of Lima, former art director in the Celina City Schools, died at 3:15 p.m. Feb. 19, 2003, at Tucson Medical Center Hospice, Tucson, Ariz.
He was born July 13, 1918, in Middleburg, to James Richard and Clara Shafer Clark. On July 3, 1945, he married Jessie M. Sherbourne who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Rebecca (Jerry) Latta, Defiance, and Lynda (Daniel) Porter, Anacortes, Wash.; and four grandchildren.
A sister, Thelma Fliehman, is deceased.
A 1936 graduate of Caldwell High School, he attended the Cincinnati Art Academy, Ohio State University where he received a bachelor of education degree, Miami University and Wittenburg University where he earned a master's degree in supervision and administration.
He retired as director of art and administrative assistant for community relations in the Lima City Schools. He also served as art director in the Celina and Troy school districts. A commercial artist and designer, he authored the textbook "Mechanical Art" and won first-place awards in bicentennial design contests sponsored by the Ohio American Legion and Allen County.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, earning numerous awards and commendations in the process. He was past president of the Troy Lions Club, past president of the Troy Chamber of Commerce, former board member of the Lima Arts Council and a member of the Lima Area Arts Council, United Way of Greater Lima, the St. Rita's Medical Center Development Board, Lima Senior Services Board, Lima American Legion and West Elm Street United Church of Christ, Lima.
Memorial service is 3 p.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, the Rev. Betsy Tobak officiating.

Oscar Eifert
Oscar V. Eifert, 95, Gables of Singing Woods, Dayton, formerly of Cassella, died at 1:05 p.m. March 4, 2003, at Hospice of Dayton.
He was born April 19, 1907, in Maria Stein, to Charles and Katherine Fleck Eifert. On June 5, 1934, he married Adella Bruns who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Donald (Joan) of Dayton; two daughters, Patricia (Tony) Mastrangelo, Tucson, Ariz., and Mary Jane (Bill) Brinck, Centerville; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and three sisters are deceased.
He spent 39 of his 40 years in education in the Marion Local school district, serving as a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent. The former school building in Cassella was dedicated in his honor in July 2002. For many years he wrote the Cassella News that appeared in The Daily Standard, the Mercer County Chronicle and The Community Post.
He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Cassella, where he was organist for 64 years, a religious education teacher and a Men's Sodality member. He was a member and past grand knight of Knights of Columbus Council 2158, Minster, Catholic Knights of America Branch 943, Cassella, Knights of St. John Commandery 313, Maria Stein, the Mercer County Retired Teachers and the Ohio Retired Teachers.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Kenneth Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
