Richard Fischbach
Richard M. Fischbach, 81, 405 W. South St., New Knoxville, died at 1:10 a.m. April 8, 2001 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Sept. 4, 1919, in Shelby County, to Elmer and LaRue (Dodds) Fischbach. On July 26, 1941, he married Deloris Kipp, who survives.
Other survivors are a daughter and her husband, Jean and Gordon Coffin, New Bremen; two sisters and their husbands, Bernice and Albert Houts, New Bremen, and Shirley and Laverne Pax, Pickerington; a brother and his wife, Rodney and Rowena of Cambridge City, Ind., and a brother, Carrol of St. Marys; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy of Anna, Marie of St. Marys, Dorothea Wierwille, New Knoxville, and Evelyn Thatcher, Van Wert; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Paul and Orville, and a sister, Beverly Moeller.
He was a retired truck driver at Airstream Corp., Jackson Center, and a former employee of Stamco in New Bremen. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was awarded the Battle Star, Oak Leaf Cluster and Purple Heart, after he was wounded serving in the infantry in France and Germany. He was a member of First United Church of Christ and American Legion Post 444, where he served as Post Chaplain, both New Knoxville.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. David Hunt officiating. Burial with graveside rites performed by the American Legion is at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Inez Hirn
Former Mendon resident Inez P. Hirn, 95, died at 6:46 p.m. April 8, 2001 at Otterbein Retirement Community Center, St. Marys.
She was born Dec. 28, 1905, in St. Marys, to Wesley and Margaret (Stewart) Gayer. On Oct. 2, 1926, she married Ernest H. Hirn, who died Sept. 7, 1982.
Survivors are a son and his wife, Paul and Vivian of St. Marys, and a son, Clyde of Pretoria, South Africa; two daughters and their husbands, Margaret and Don Baker, Spencerville, and Eloise and Lewis Hubble, Bradley, Ill.; two sisters, Laverne Worrell, Bakersfield, Calif., and Ada Gayer, St. Marys; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis of Mendon; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Glen, a brother, Raymond Gayer, and a sister, Esther King.
She was a homemaker and a member of Mendon United Methodist Church. She was a 1927 graduate of Lima Business College, and a 1925 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Mendon, the Rev. Paul Bunnell officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Catherine McClellan
Catherine A. "Katy" McClellan, 65, 2400 S. TR 119, Tiffin, died at 8:05 a.m. April 6, 2001 at her residence.
She was born May 10, 1935, in Willshire, to Robert P. and Ruth (Riker) Davis. On April 13, 1968, she married Herbert McClellan, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Kenneth Dunmire, Magnolia, Texas; a stepson, Donald of Tiffin; a daughter, Cheryl Swartz, Ocoee, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Christine Markle, Fishertown, Pa., and Teresa McClellan, Tiffin; five sisters, Winnie Stout, Fort Wayne, Ind., Jean Stanford and Ruth Donovan, both of Celina, Louise Henry, New Haven, Ind., and Rev. Rosemary Swartz, Van Wert; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Ohio City, Women of the Moose Lodge, Tiffin, and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She was a former member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Services are 11 a.m. today at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, Tiffin, the Rev. Margaret Marks officiating. Burial is at Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin.

Virgil Thobe
Virgil H. "Butch" Thobe, 79, 8202 Ohio 119, Maria Stein, died at 1:40 p.m. April 7, 2001 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born May 21, 1921, in Minster, to Henry F. and Matilda (Heitkamp) Thobe. On May 1, 1946, he married Mary E. Wenning, who died Oct. 14, 1993.
Survivors are three sons and their wives, Dick and Diane of Chickasaw, Jim and Phyllis of Maria Stein, and Kevin and Ruth of St. Henry, and a son, Jack of Chickasaw; seven daughters and their husbands, Jean and Jim Basile, Clark, N.J., Joan and Michael Bollenbacher, and Lynn and Dale Homan, all of Maria Stein, Kathy and Tom Huelsman, and Nancee and Ted Homan, all of Chickasaw, Kris and Roger DeMange, St. Henry, and Beth and Gary Fortkamp, Maria Stein; five brothers and their wives, Werner and Mary, Delbert and Velma, Donald and Patty, Roland and Shirley, and David and Jean, all of Maria Stein, and two brothers, Elton of Maria Stein, and Larry of St. Marys; six sisters and their husbands, Alice and Leonard Varno, Sidney, Mary C. and John Mescher, Maria Stein, Martha and Tom Warner, New Bremen, Marilyn and Dale Miller, Minster, Margie and David Moeller, St. Sebastian, and Lois and Jay Hogenkamp, Carthagena; a sister-in-law, Ginny Thobe, Maria Stein; and 35 grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Ann, a brother, Harold, and a granddaughter.
He was retired as a self-employed milk hauler, and served in the U.S. Army 83rd Infantry Division during World War II. He formerly served as a commander of Maria Stein American Legion, and was a member of St. John Catholic Church and its Men's Sodality, Maria Stein, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Chickasaw, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Minster, and Vintage Chevrolet Club of America.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Emil Labbe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9-9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.

Charlene Ward
Charlene A. Ward, 65, St. Marys Living Center, died at 10:50 a.m. April 7, 2001 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born June 16, 1935, in St. Marys, to Russell E. and Lillie C. (Chiles) Drummond.
Survivors include a son, Elwin C.D. Drummond, New Bremen; a brother and his wife, David and Ruta Drummond, Ann Arbor, Mich., and a brother, Nolan Drummond, Canton, Conn.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Her parents are deceased.
She was a member of First Wesleyan Church in St. Marys.
Services are 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. C. Bonnie Sanders officiating. Private burial services are at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Delbert Bradford
Word has been received of the death of former Celina resident Delbert E. Bradford, 67, on April 4, 2001 at his residence in Downey, Calif.
He was born July 3, 1933, to Glenn and Violet Bradford. On Sept. 19, 1955, he married Savella Bauer, who survives.
Other survivors are two daughters, Kathy and Toni, and a son, Jay.
A daughter, Candy, is deceased.
His parents owned the former Bradford Brothers Master Market. He was a Celina Senior High School graduate.
Rev. Ralph Corbin
Services for Rev. Ralph Corbin were held at 11 a.m. April 7, 2001 at Mount Tabor Church of God, Celina, the Revs. Rick Mason, Robert Eatherton and Richard Van Horn officiating. Organist Janelle Nuding accompanied vocalist Pat Nuding.
Burial will be held at a later date at Wharton Cemetery.
W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Mendon, handled arrangements.
Amber Baird
Amber Kay Baird, 55, died of natural causes at 8:51 p.m. April 8, 2001 at her residence at 627 S. Harrison St., Van Wert.
She was born Dec. 7, 1945, in Celina, to Charles Edward and Margarete Alice (Cotterman) Ward. On Jan. 11, 1964, she married Lawrence J. Baird, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons and their wives, Lawrence J. Jr. and Ruby of Van Wert, and Jammie Eric and Tyren of Middleburg, and a son, Nicholas Kyle at home; two daughters and their husbands, Robin N. and Christian Stampfli, Laloche, Switzerland, and Stephanie Lynn and Chris Burrows, Celina, and a daughter, Michele Renee of Van Wert; a brother and his wife, Dennis G. and Kathy of Moulton; and five grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Charles Edward Ward Jr.
She managed Brookside Carry-Out in Van Wert and Paulding, and was a former employee of Molly's Restaurant, Van Wert. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and its Catholic Ladies of Columbus and altar and rosary societies.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. J.M. Schmelzer officiating. Burial is at Scott Cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with a wake service at 8:45 p.m.
