Crystal Schmidt
Crystal Louise Schmidt, 52, 65 Summerplace Drive, Wapakoneta, died following an extended illness April 17, 2001 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born Sept. 12, 1948, in Celina, to Frederick Lester and Beulah Roberts (Byrley) Morgan. Her mother survives in Celina. On July 1, 1980, she married Steven Schmidt, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Cory Lee Newland, Celina; four stepdaughters and their husbands, Shauna and Tom Wyant, Stephanie and Joe Albright, and Chasity and Bill Schmidt, all of Mount Vernon, Ind., and Tonya and Jeff Phipps, Dearborn, Mich.; two brothers and their wives, Ernie and Glenda Ginter, Belleview, Fla., and Larry and Linda Byrley, Napoleon; a brother, Samuel Morgan, Celina; two sisters and their husbands, Janice "Sue" and Bill Norris, Celina, and Sandra and John Bussing, Defiance; two sisters, Michaelene Leiss, Celina, and Carolyn Morgan, Melrose; and seven stepgrandchildren.
Deceased are her father and a brother, Richard Ginter.
She was employed at Miller's Textile, Inc., Wapakoneta, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 8445, Wapakoneta.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Larry Eads officiating. Burial is at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Dorma Frame
Dorma M. Frame, 77, 723 S. Elm St., Celina, died at 1:25 p.m. April 18, 2001 at Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 7, 1923, in West Point, Va., to Herbert and Blanche (Bland) Milby. On April 4, 1942, she married Robert Frame, who died April 29, 1981.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, Marcia and Jeff Brown, Celina; a daughter, Mary Coridan, Columbus; a sister and her husband, Pansy and Eugene Brown, Mattaponi, Va.; and five grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Robert Jr., a brother and two sisters.
She was retired from customer service at General Telephone, Celina, and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion auxiliaries, all of Celina.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Kathleen Hayes officiating. Burial is at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

H. Bernice Gillespie
Former Celina resident H. Bernice Gillespie, 91, died April 12, 2001 at Royal Care Nursing Home in Avon Park, Fla.
She was born May 27, 1909, in Mercer County, to Joseph and Iva (Squier) Adams.
Survivors are a daughter, Ann Morrison, Avon Park, Fla., two granddaughters, two great-grandsons, and a great-great-grandson.
Deceased is a sister, Naomi McAfee.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Washington Township, the Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating.
There will be no visitation.

Alex Guggenbiller
Alex Joseph Guggenbiller, 23 days, died at 5:10 p.m. April 17, 2001 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born March 25, in Columbus, to Dwain and Carla (Dirksen) Guggenbiller, Columbus.
Survivors include a sister, Holly, and a brother, Matthew; grandparents, Richard and Margie Dirksen, Maria Stein, and Ralph and Connie Guggenbiller, Fort Recovery; and great-grandfather, Herman J. Hoying, St. Henry.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Osgood, the Rev. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial is at St. Martin's Cemetery, Osgood.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday and 9-9:30 a.m. Saturday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.

Luke Stammen
Luke J. Stammen, son of Marty and Jaymi (Grieshop) Stammen, 944 Meiring Road, Fort Recovery, was stillborn April 18, 2001 at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
Surviving are grandparents are Maurice and Jeanette Grieshop, and Ronald and Mary Lou Stammen, all of Fort Recovery; and great-grandparents, Mark and Christine Siefring, St. Henry, and Mary Rita Stammen, Fort Recovery.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Marys Cemetery, Fort Recovery, the Rev. Paul Wohlwend officiating.

Norbert Knapke
Norbert Bernard Knapke, 86, 3524 S. Washington Road, Fort Wayne, Ind., died at 2:55 a.m. April 18, 2001 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born July 20, 1914, in Chickasaw, to John B. and Anna (Bruns) Knapke. He was married to Katherine Leist, who died in 1991.
Survivors are a son, Philip J. of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a daughter, Norine Knapke Kitch, Fort Wayne, Ind.; two brothers, Leo of Celina, and Robert of Minster; four sisters, Hilda Brunswick Fort Recovery, Mary Klosterman, Celina, Matilda Elking and Florence Moeller, both of Chickasaw; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Paul, and three sisters, Armella Rawers, Olive Miller and Agnes Hemmelgarn.
He was retired from the industrial and commercial real estate field. He began his career at E.H. Kilbourne, and formed his own company, N.B. Knapke Co., Inc. He and a partner formed K & H Realty Corp., and in the 1990s, his company joined with Goldstine, Inc., and formed Goldstine Knapke Co., with Knapke in an advisory position. Through his career in real estate, he helped develop several shopping centers and industrial parks in Fort Wayne Fremont and Auburn. Before entering real estate, he held a number of economic development positions with the Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce. He aided negotiations to bring a number of corporations to Fort Wayne and helped acquire land for several new industries. He aided in bringing North American Van Lines to Fort Wayne, where he served as the assistant to the president. He was appointed a special assistant for economic development with Lt. Gov. Robert D. Orr. He was a member of the first Board of Aviation Commissioners and a number of professional real estate and development associations. He was the first chairman of the Lay Advisory Board of St. Joseph Hospital, and a Fellow of Indiana Institute of Technology. He was also a member of he Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and the Knights of Columbus.
Funeral Mass is 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Monsignor Lester officiating. Burial is at The Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
Visitation is 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Klaehn, Fahl and Melton Funeral Homes, Fort Wayne, Ind., and one hour prior to services Monday at the church. A rosary service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Edith Pothast
Edith M. Pothast, 87, formerly of 1011 Poppy Drive, Wapakoneta, died at 9:05 a.m. April 19, 2001 at Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 6, 1914, in Delphos, to Bernard and Anna Mary (Hoffman) Dickrede. On June 15, 1937, she married Raymond J. Pothast, who died June 9, 1989.
Survivors are two daughters, Jeanette Fortman, Northfield, and Joyce Carnes, Wapakoneta; four daughters and their husbands, Marceil and Thomas Fisher and Norma and James C. Wachauf, all of Wapakoneta, Wilma and Myron Oen, Botkins, and Karen and Larry Hall, Westchester; a son and his wife, John and Betty of Versailles; a sister and her husband, Estella and Virgil Suever, Delphos; a sister, Edna Gable, Delphos; 25 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son-in-law, William G. Fortman, two brothers, Ralph and Urban Dickrede, two sisters, Zita Hesseling and Emma Fischer, and a great-grandson.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its former Catholic Ladies of St. Joseph, Wapakoneta. She was a member of Wapakoneta Senior Citizens, Knights of Columbus Council 1272 Auxiliary, Wapakoneta.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Peter Chiodo, C.PP.S., officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Long & Folk Funeral Home, Wapakoneta, with a Christian prayer service at 8 p.m.
