Walter Thieman
Walter B. Thieman, 92, 02184 Amsterdam Road, Minster, died at 6:11 p.m. April 7, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Feb. 1, 1910, in Minster to John and Mary (Sommer) Thieman.
Survivors are two brothers, Victor F. of Kettering, and Alvina M. of Minster; and a sister, Elsie E. of Minster.
Deceased are a brother and a sister.
He was a retired farmer and member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster and its Orphan Society. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 1391 of Minster and the Minster Historical Society.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Louis Schmit officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
Edith Baer
Edith M. Baer, 95, 9836 Celina-Mendon Road, Celina, died at 1:45 p.m. April 9, 2002, at the Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born Oct. 28, 1906, in Spencerville, to Charles and Ida (Baker) Biederman. On June 25, 1925, she married Gale Baer and he died Oct. 27, 1998.
Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, LaDonna and Don Preston, Mendon, and Myrna and Robert Wolfe, Neputne, and two daughters, Margaret Grunden, Montezuma, and Lois Spohn, Albany, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Josie Baer, Van Nuys, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons, Vernon and Leonard; two sons-in-law, Roger Spohn and Jimmie Grunden; two brothers and two sisters.
She was a homemaker and a former volunteer at Laurels of Shane Hill. She was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Celina, and the Mercer County Council on Aging.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Carl Miller officiating. Burial will be at Ridge Cemetery, Middlepoint.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the church or the Council on Aging.
Beryl Baker
Beryl W. Baker, 78, formerly of Wapakoneta, died at 4:30 a.m. April 6, 2002, at the St. Marys Living Center.
She was born July 28, 1923, in Albany, N.Y., to the Rev. W.E. and Anabelle (Barnes) Baker.
Surviving are two brothers, Dr. Ralph of St. Petersburg, Fla., and the Rev. Elmer of Blue Springs, Mo.
She attended grade school in Ravena, N.Y., and graduated from Litchfield High School in Litchfield, Mich. She received a bachelor of science degree from Ohio Northern University, Ada, and a master's of education degree in administration and guidance from Bowling Green State University.
She retired in 1977 after teaching and/or working as a guidance counselor in Michigan, Lima, Elida, Wapakoneta and Greenville. She spent a year as an exchange teacher in Honolulu.
She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wapakoneta, the Grange, Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine, Tri-Moraine Audubon Society, Allen County Herb Society, the Homemakers Extension Club, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Auglaize County Retired Teachers Association.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Howard Toback officiating. Private burial services will be held in Fletcher.
Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, has charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.

Velma Baucher
Velma B. Baucher, 91, 225 Godfrey Ave., Celina, died at 2:45 a.m. today, April 10, 2002, at the Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born Aug. 16, 1910, in Celina, to Carl and Kate (Alexander) Wrigley. On May 16, 1933, she married Burl Baucher and he died July 4, 1990.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Jerry and Margaret, and a son, James, all of Celina; a daughter and her husband, Carolyn and Don Leffler, Celina; 11 grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are her foster parents, Manuel and Maggie Buck, and a sister, Margaret Unkenholt.
She retired as a cafeteria worker in the Celina City Schools. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star, both of Celina.
Services are 3 p.m. Saturday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Kathleen Hayes officiating. Burial will be at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Mark Kolter
Mark Von Kolter, 48, of Macon, Ga., the son of former Rockford residents, died March 11, 2002, at his residence. Death was due to advanced diabetes.
He was born July 6, 1953, in Winston Salem, N.C., to Lewis J. and Bonnie Lee (Roebuck) Kolter. His mother survives in Dayton, Nev.
Also surviving is a brother, Michael J. of Atlanta, Ga.
He graduated from Dekalb Technical School and was employed as a security specialist with Pyrotechnics Specialties in Byron, Ga.
Hart's Mortuary in Macon had charge of services held March 23, the Rev. Rex Odom officiated. The body was cremated.
Jack Maloy
Jack E. Maloy, 64, 502 E. Boundary St., Fort Recovery, died April 9, 2002, at his residence. Death was due to cancer.
He was born April 20, 1937, in Union City, to Herman and Iva (Strait) Maloy. In 1960, he married Marilyn Katterhenry and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Todd of Fort Recovery; two daughters and their husbands, Jodi and Mike Salisbury, Nashville, Ark., and Wendy and Allan Anemaet, Tarpon Springs, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
He was employed at the former MacIntosh Co. in Berne, Ind., and had worked as a security guard at Agco New Idea, Coldwater.
The body will be cremated and no services are planned.

Ivo Siegrist
Ivo J. Siegrist, 81, 1334 Siegrist-Jutte Road, Fort Recovery, died at 11:45 a.m. April 9, 2002, at Celina Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 20, 1920, in St. Peter, to Anthony and Rose (Miller) Siegrist. On Aug. 26, 1950, he married Dolores Grilliot and she survives.
Also surviving are four sons and their wives, Tom and Vicki and Don and Sally, all of Fort Recovery, Jerry and Sharon of Chickasaw, and Dale and Pam of St. Henry, and a son, Jim of Fort Recovery; two daughters and their husbands, Dorothy and Dave Bruggeman, Coldwater, and Karen and Larry Langston, Versailles; two brothers and their wives, Urban and Jo of Fort Wright, Ky., and Ed and Mary of Fort Recovery, and a brother, Otto of Fort Wright; three sisters, Leona Schmidt, Coldwater, Barbara Kreutzjans, Fort Wright, Ky. and Imelda Wilker, St. Marys; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Odillo; a sister, Celine Homan; and a grandchild.
A retired farmer, he was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, Catholic Order of Foresters, Fort Recovery Ambassadors Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Coldwater.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Kenneth Alt officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
