Mary Alice Spitler
Mary Alice Spitler, 76, formerly of 5250 Grove Drive, Celina, died at 6:10 a.m. Dec. 31, 2001 at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Greenville.
She was born June 17, 1925, in Clayton, to Carl A. and Florence (Klepinger) Schreck. In September 1944, she married Jack H. Spitler and he died Jan. 5, 1996.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Dennis and Sharon of St. Marys, and a son, Jack of Coldwater; a brother and his wife, Pete and Freda of Phillipsburg; three sisters and their husbands, Dorothy and Gordon Randolph, Dayton, Opal and Marshall Covey, Beavercreek, and Donna and Clifton Crider, Clayton; a sister-in-law, Audrey Schreck, Dayton; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was a retired clerk from Liberal Markets in Dayton. She was a member of the Coldwater American Legion Auxiliary and the Women's Democratic Club.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater, the Rev. James R. Sager officiating. Burial will be at Royal Oak Cemetery, Brookville.
Calling is 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Rachel Tucker
Rachel Ann Tucker, 40, South Whitley, Ind., died at 7:10 a.m. Jan. 1, 2002 at her residence. Death was due to natural causes.
She was born Aug. 17, 1961, in Huntington County, Ind., to Franklin D. and Ruth Ann (Geist) Grant. The mother survives in South Whitley.
Surviving are her fiance, Randy Moorman, South Whitley, formerly of Coldwater; three brothers, Sam and Ben Grant, both of South Whitley, and Matthew Grant, Albion, Ind.; and a sister, Clara North, South Whitley.
She had been self-employed as a truck driver for Moorman Trucking Co. for several years. She graduated from Whitko High School in 1979 and attended Ivy Technical College in Fort Wayne for four years. She was a member of A.B.A.T.E.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Smith and Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley, the Rev. Jonathan Damon officiating. Burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Winona Lininger
Winona Lininger, 90, of St. Marys, died at 9:05 p.m. Dec. 31, 2001 at the St. Marys Living Center, where she had resided since 1998.
She was born March 29, 1911, in St. Marys, to Harry and Ruth (Hardin) Joyce. On Oct. 28, 1927, she married Wilbur Lininger and he died March 6, 1984.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Ronald and Peg of St. Marys; two daughters, Betty Kaye Katterheinrich and Sarah Ann McPheron, also of St. Marys; a brother, Robert Joyce, Ada; 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, John, Harry and Lester Joyce; two sisters, Mildred Schoonmaker and Virginia Kettler; and a grandson.
She was a homemaker and a former employee of G.C. Murphy Co., St. Marys. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, St. Marys.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. James Nuhfer officiating. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.

Mary Schuh
Mary E. Schuh, 86, formerly of Fort Recovery, died at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 2, 2002 at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
She was born May 25, 1915, in St. Henry, to Joseph and Emma (Daniel) Wappelhorst. On Aug. 26, 1939, she married Aloys Schuh and he died Oct. 12, 1965.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Edwin and Pam of Amherst, and a son, Richard of Winchester, Ind.; a brother and his wife, Carl and Ann Wappelhorst, Coldwater; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Deceased are a son, Lawrence; six brothers, Albert, Bernard, Edward and Ralph Wappelhorst and two infants; three sisters, Matilda Kunk, Frances Droesch and Dorothy Ellis; and two grandchildren.
She was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church and the Altar-Rosary Sodality, both of Fort Recovery.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Paul Wohlwend officiating. Burial will be in St. Wendelin Cemetery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.

Donald White
Donald W. White, 86, of Rockford, died at 10:13 p.m. Jan. 1, 2002 at Colonial Nursing Home, Rockford. He had been in failing health since midsummer.
He was born Jan. 25, 1915, in Blackcreek Township, Mercer County, to Charles and Nora (Bransteter) White. On July 4, 1941, he married Alma Hinton and she preceded him in death. On March 17, 1979, he married Bessie Bienz Sill and she survives.
Also surviving are two stepsons and their wives, Stanley and Katy Sill and Jerry and Marjorie Sill, all of Rockford; a grandson, two great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Janet, and a number of brothers and sisters.
He was a retired farmer and a member of New Horizons Community Church, Rockford.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Robert Loar officiating. Burial will be at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.

Harold Gilberg
Former Celina resident Harold "Harry" Gilberg, 91, Brooklyn, N.Y., died Dec. 8, 2002 at his residence.
He was born May 15, 1910, to Justice and Flossie (Newcomb) Gilberg.
Surviving is a sister, Justine Gertz, Cleveland.
Services were Dec. 12 in Brooklyn. Burial will be at North Grove Cemetery, Celina. However, the date has not been set.

Arvilla Stauffer
Arvilla "Billie" S. Stauffer, 91, of Celina, died at 4:30 a.m. today [Jan. 4, 2002] at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 22, 1910, in Pandora, to Albert B. and Elizabeth (Welty) Hilty. On May 5, 1935, she married LeRoy Stauffer and he died in 1989.
Surviving are two sons, Christian C. of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Steven J. of Bluffton, Ind.; a daughter and her husband, Erma and Ronald Beougher, Celina; and 12 grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Raymond and Lawrence Hilty, and a sister, Laoma Shimp.
She was a member of First Mennonite Church of Berne, Ind.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, the Rev. Harold Nussbaum officiating. Burial will be at M.R.E. Cemetery, Berne.
