Henrietta Prenger
Henrietta B. Prenger, 82, 14949 Schmitmeyer-Baker Road, Minster, was pronounced dead at noon April 27, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, from injuries sustained in a single-car accident on Ohio 119 near Minster.
She was born March 6, 1920, in St. Patrick, to Charles and Mary (Luthman) Liening, On May 16, 1939, she married Alfred J. Prenger who died Jan. 14, 2000.
Survivors are four sons and their wives, Larry and Marlene, and Jim and Patti, all of Minster, Stan and Patricia of Anna, and Clem and Doris of Harpster; two daughters and their husbands, Joan and Paul Homan, Minster, and Carol and Dan Fortman, Piqua; a sister and her husband, Alberta and Albert Wehrman, Fort Loramie, and a sister, Rita Schmiesing, Egypt; a brother and his wife, Leo and Vera Liening, Lima; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a grandchild.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, and the Knights of St. John Auxiliary, Fort Loramie.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Louis Schmit officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

William Shannon
William K. Shannon, 86, 307 N. Lynn St., St. Marys, died at 2:01 p.m. April 27, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Nov. 7, 1915, in Rockford, to William and Minnie (Stroh) Shannon. On Feb. 27, 1947, he married Nancy Overley who survives.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, Steven and Connie of St. Marys; two daughters and their husbands, Marcia and Dave O'Brien, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Linda and Craig Hunter, St. Marys; a sister, Helen Westerbeck, Port Richey, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Ruth Shannon, Bradford; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Russell and James Shannon.
He was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, after 36 years and was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Patricia Minnick officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
William Simons
Former Celina resident, William Harvey "Popper" Simons, 82, a resident of The Gables in Green Pastures of Marysville, died April 28, 2002, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born Aug. 2, 1919, in West Jefferson, to Jacob and Grace L. (Moore) Simons. On April 17, 1945, he married Dorothy B. Kirk who died Jan. 1, 2001.
Survivors are a son, William K. Simons, Hilliard; a daughter and her husband, Lura K. and William J. Hayes, Marysville, and a daughter, Suzanne D. Chrispin Mioduxzewski, Ann Arbor, Mich.; a brother-in-law, Roger Ervin, Dayton, a sister-in-law, Betty Noteman Simons of Norwalk; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Jack, Stanley and Don; and five sisters, Lila Barr, Harriet Simons, Corinne Huntsman, Ruth Smith and Mary Ervin.
He retired in 1984 as a shipping supervisor for Reynolds & Reynolds in Celina where he worked for more than 20 years. He was a manager for Stokely Van Kamp plants in Celina and Milford Center. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and served in the North African and European Theaters, and was a member of the 98th Bomb Group Veterans Association, American Legion Union Post 79, and first commander of the Milford Center Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a former member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Celina, and attended Marysville First United Methodist church. He was a 1938 graduate of Union Local High School.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Underwood Funeral Home, Marysville, the Rev. Richard Teller officiating.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the 98th Bomb Group Veterans Association or the resident activity fund at the Gables at Green Pastures.
Rev. Lewis Thompson
Former Rockford pastor, Rev. Lewis H. Thompson, 71, of Middletown, died April 27, 2002, at his home following a long illness.
He was born Feb. 8, 1931, in Dayton, to Harry E. and LaVerne (Dyke) Thompson. On June 6, 1954, he married Urith Ellen Linard who survives.
Other survivors are two daughters and their husbands, Beth and Denny Greider, Middletown, and Bonny and Mark Titus, Reynoldsburg; a sister and her husband, Martha and James Gilveli, Medina; and three grandchildren.
He was ordained into the United Methodist Church in 1956 and served as a pastor for 38 years at churches in Bethany, Malta, Zanesville, Newark, Whitehouse, Middletown, Cincinnati and Rockford. He was a member of the Lafayette Masonic Lodge, the Commercial Travelers of America and Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at Christ United Methodist Church, Middletown, the Rev. Lisa Ellison officiating. His body is to be cremated and buried at Woodside Cemetery, Middletown.

Alvira Vogel
Alvira K. Vogel, 91, 1416 Philothea Road, Fort Recovery, died April 27, 2002, at her home.
She was born Sept. 12, 1910, in St. Peter, to Peter and Philomena (Jacobs) Braun. On Nov. 16, 1928, she married Norbert J. Vogel Sr. who died in 1971.
Survivors are a son and his wife, Ronald and Cynthia of Versailles; three daughters and their husbands, Imogene and Alfred Kunk, Coldwater, Sandra and Maurice Backs, Fort Recovery, and Connie Sue and Richard Thiel, West Carrollton; a daughter-in-law and her husband, Margie and Bill Hooker, Fort Recovery; 20 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Norbert Jr., five sisters, four brothers and a great-grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and its Christian Mothers Sodality.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Kenneth Alt officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. Wednesday until time of Mass at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. A prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Owen Ashbaugh
Owen "Red" Ashbaugh, 69, 1100 Myers Road, Apt. 47, Celina, died at 4 a.m. April 29, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 23, 1932, in St. Marys, to Owen and Luella (Roby) Ashbaugh. On Jan. 4, 1975, he married Gwen McMillan who survives.
Another survivor is a sister, Virginia Sharp, Decatur, Ind.
He retired from the former Mersman Brothers Furniture Factory in Celina, and was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Celina.
Memorial service is 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, the Rev. Donald Ramsey officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Contributions can be made to the Celina Area Visiting Nurses and Hospice.

Dr. Elizabeth Lampert
Former Mercer County resident, Dr. Elizabeth Teresa Wanda Lampert, 74, of Cincinnati, died April 29.
She was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Warsaw, Poland, to Kazimierz and Wanda Oksza-Strzelecka. On March 1, 1973, she married Ernest A. Lampert who died in April 1988.
Survivors are a stepson and his wife, Daniel and Joanne of Anna, and a son, Joseph of Cleveland; and three grandchildren.
She was executive director of Mercer County Mental Health program for 20 years. She became a U.S. citizen in 1973.
Memorial Mass is at 10 a.m. May 18 at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, Kenwood. The body is to be cremated.
Contributions can be made to the Alzheimer Association of Silverton or Heartland #4646 Hospice Memorial Fund of Toledo.
