Virginia Kyle
Virginia E. Missler Kyle, 78, of Van Wert, died at 2:11 a.m. April 22, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born Dec. 17, 1924, in Van Wert County, to Virgil and Helen Roop Gamble. On April 8, 1944, she married Paul Missler who died Sept. 28, 1987. On April 15, 1989, she married Edwin Kyle who died May 11, 1992.
Surviving are two sons, Kent Missler, Ohio City, and David Missler, Convoy; two daughters, Linda K. Missler, Lima, and Kathleen (Richard) Kesler, Van Wert; two brothers, Robert (Carol) Gamble, Ohio City, and Max (Linda) Gamble, Van Wert; and one grandchild.
She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Friends Church and the STIC Group of the church, all of Van Wert, and the Van Wert County Farm Bureau.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Neil Hammons officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert.

Rose Lammers
Rose Alma Lammers, 83, 243 S. Hanover St., Minster, died at 9:50 a.m. April 22, 2003, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Nov. 22, 1919, in St. Henry, to John and Gertrude Streacker Fullenkamp. On Nov. 24, 1938, she married Wilbur B. Lammers who died Dec. 21, 1991.
Surviving are two sons, Robert (Dorothy) of Minster, and John (Cynthia) of Poway, Calif.; a daughter, Anne (Larry) Larger, Minster; a brother, Louis (Zita) Fullenkamp, St. Henry; two sisters, Mary (Ed) Fieley, Centerville, and Mildred (Gerald) VanderHorst, St. Marys; two sisters-in-law, Irene and Ruby Fullenkamp, both of St. Henry; eight grandsons and 10 great-grandchildren.
Four brothers, a sister and a great-grandchild are deceased.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and its Mission Commission, both of Minster. She also was a member of the Minster and Fort Loramie historical societies.
Funeral Mass is 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. David Hoying officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Friday and noon to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

Adolph Lauterbur
Adolph "Ott" Lauterbur, 94, formerly of 15370 County Road 66A, St. Marys, died April 22, 2003, at Auglaize Acres Nursing Home, Wapakoneta, where he had resided since 2000.
He was born Sept. 13, 1908, in Shelby County, to Peter and Theresa Schott Lauterbur. On Jan. 12, 1937, he married Thekla Danzig who died May 19, 1984.
Surviving are a nephew, Alvin Wiest, Botkins, and two nieces, Marjorie Young, Centerville, and Marilyn (Gifford) Solem, Miamisburg.
Deceased are a brother, Dr. Max Wiest; a sister, Mary Ahlers; four nephews and a niece.
He was a farmer and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 767, both of St. Marys, and the Shelby County Deer Hunters, Sidney. He had attended the former Uno School near St. Patrick.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. David Heinl officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery, Fort Loramie.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday at Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys.

Calvin Scott Sr.
Calvin L. Scott Sr., 77, 1325 Michael Ave., Celina, died at 10:30 p.m. April 21, 2003, at his residence.
He was born March 24, 1926, in Celina, to Ross and Mabel Norris Scott. On March 3, 1984, he married Joyce Rose who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Calvin (Ruth) of Celina; a daughter, Polly (Paul) Ziegler, Celina; a stepdaughter, Yvonne (Michael) Wamsley, Columbus; two sisters, Alwilda Thobe and Bonnie Stevenson, both of Fort Recovery; and six grandchildren.
A brother, Robert, is deceased.
He retired from Tilton Corp., Lima, in October 1991. He had worked for Lake Contracting and was a former deputy sheriff. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was stationed on Iwo Jima.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, American Legion Post 210 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, all of Celina.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Tom Brenberger officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina.

James Thomas
James A. Thomas, 30, of Mendon, died April 21, 2003, at SCCI Hospital, part of St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. Death was due to cancer.
He was born July 31, 1972, in Celina, to Craig and Patty Berry Thomas. They survive in Mendon.
Also surviving is a brother, John A. of Mendon.
A brother and a sister died in infancy.
He was employed by Schwan's Ice Cream.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford. Burial will be at Mercer Memory Gardens.

Robert Knorr
Robert J. "Bob" Knorr, 82, 6250 N. 19th Ave., Phoenix, Ariz., the husband of a former Minster woman, died April 11, 2003, in Phoenix.
He was born April 17, 1920, in Cincinnati, to Louis Francis and Helen Anna Engert Knorr. His wife, the former Mary Catherine Westerheide, is deceased.
Surviving are a son, Robert Jr. (Susan) of Naperville, Ill.; a daughter, Ann (Greg) Haesloop, Phoenix; a brother-in-law, Joseph (Judy) Westerheide, Xenia; and three grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster. The body was cremated and burial will be at the church cemetery.
Calling is 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster. The rosary will be recited there at 7:30 p.m.

Pearl Moeller
Pearl E. Moeller, 91, 501 E. Monroe St., New Bremen, and Pensacola, Fla., died at 12:30 a.m. April 21, 2003, at Specialty Care Center in Pensacola.
She was born Nov. 2, 1911, near New Bremen, to Arthur W. and Hilda M. Westerbeck Moeller.
Surviving is a sister, Ethel Wooten, Pensacola.
A brother, Ray Moeller, and a sister, Mable Dilbone, are deceased.
She had been a clothing model in various cities throughout the United States. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen.
Graveside services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen, the Rev. John W. Tostrick officiating.
Calling is 10-11:30 a.m. Friday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen.

Helen Stanford
Celina native Helen Miller Stanford, 85, of Washington, D.C., died April 5, 2003, at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
In 1940, she married George Stanford who died in 1981.
Surviving are three sons, Phil of Portland, Ore., James of Washington, D.C., and Ron of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sisters, Barbara Banks, San Diego, Calif., and Janet of Arlington, Va.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She co-founded the preschool at University United Methodist Church, College Park, Md., and taught there from 1969 to 1977. In the late 1960s, she taught parenting skills to adults with children in the Head Start program in Prince George's County, Md. She graduated from Miami University, Oxford, in 1938 with a home economics degree and in 1940 from Iowa State University with a master's degree in early childhood and family relationships. She taught preschool in Iowa, Ohio and Alabama before moving to Washington in the mid-1960s.
She also did volunteer coordination work for the bicentennial celebration at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. Her hooked rugs were exhibited at the National 4-H Center.
Donald Grant
Donald D. "Don" Grant, 45, of Huber Heights, died April 16, 2003, at his residence.
He was born June 28, 1957, in Dayton, to Stephen S. and Anna Marie Dix Grant. His mother survives in Dayton.
Surviving with his wife of 24 years, the former Lucy Willmann, are a son, Ryan; a daughter, Lisa; three brothers, William (Constance) and Jerome (Karen) of Dayton and Stephen (Lorri) of Boca Raton, Fla., and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold (Ruth) Willmann, Fort Recovery; two brothers-in-law, Ted (Ann) Willmann, St. Henry, and Richard (Jane) Willmann, Fort Recovery; and two sisters-in-law, Virginia (Dave) Robbins, Coldwater, and Patricia (Greg) Robinson, Lewisburg.
Two brothers, Richard and Robert, are deceased.
Memorial Mass is 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Huber Heights.

Harold Homan
Harold J. Homan, 66, 6790 Burr-ville Road, Celina, died at 2 a.m. April 19, 2003, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital, Carmel, Ind.
He was born June 26, 1936, in Coldwater, to Theodore and Catherine Knoth Homan. On April 15, 1961, he married Rosalie Wilder who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Tony (Teresa) of Coldwater and Dale of Raleigh, N.C.; two daughters, Sharon (David) Ayers, Brownsburg, Ind., and Diane (Randy) Weitzel, Coldwater; two brothers, Dallas (Mary Lou) of Coldwater and Donald (Rosemary) of Burkettsville; a sister, Jeanette (Herman) Osterholt, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and six grandchildren.
A daughter, Linda, is deceased.
He retired from Cooper Farms, Fort Recovery, and farming. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Ronald Wilker officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
