John Koons
John W. Koons, 81, 6955 Ohio 703 E., Celina, died at 10:52 a.m. April 4, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 23, 1922, in Auglaize County to Ralph and Grace Armstrong Koons.
On Jan. 27, 1991, he married Pauline Poppe, who survives. He also was married to Carol Corrigan, who died in 1987.
Survivors are a step daughter, Debra (Jeffrey) Tuneberg, Celina; a brother, George (Margaret) of St. Marys; a sister, Martha (William) Bollinger, Celina; two step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a step-daughter, Judy Walters.
He was retired as a commissary manager at the Lima State Prison and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was a 1940 graduate of Memorial High School, St. Marys. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, the American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles, all of Celina.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Edwin Miller
Edwin "Red" Miller, 85, formerly of 425 Woodward St., St. Marys, died April 3, 2003, at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys, where he had been a patient.
He was born Nov. 10, 1917 in Burktown, Va., to Edward and Anna Mary Kennedy Miller. On Dec. 24, 1968, he was married Annie Ruth Delap, who survives at Valley Nursing Home.
Also surviving are three sons, Jim and (Barbara) of Grottoes, Va., Edwin (Jackie) of Weyers Cove, Va., and David of Wapakoneta; four daughters, Nellie (Jim) Riddel and Brenda (Alvin) Weaver, all of Weyers Cove, Dianne (John) Morris, Grottoes, and Gloria Hollandsworth, St. Marys; seven step-children John (Helen) Clark, Lima, Shelby Burden, Wapakoneta, Whitey (Eloise) Rupert, St. Marys, Joe Bailey, Elkhart, Ind., Steve Bailey, Union City, Tenn.; Stanley Bailey, Branson, Mo., and Patty Lockard, Sidney; three brothers, Gabriel (Clara) of Waynesboro, Va., Robert (Peggy) of Grottoes, and John (Catherine) of Winchester, Va.; two sisters, Lucille Pryor, Roanoke, Va., and Mary Albera, Newark, Del.; and 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Chuck and Joe, four sisters and one brother.
He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1937 and helped construct the original Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was a founding member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289, St. Marys, where he was a life member. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., St. Marys, and was a former truck driver.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Bill Drummond officiating. Burial will be follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, St. Marys, where VFW Post 9289 will conduct graveside military ties.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Lester Miller
Lester Norman Miller, 81, 10110 Adams Road, Mendon. died at 8:50 a.m. April 4, 2003, at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys.
He was born Dec. 30, 1921, in Van Wert County to Marvin and Maud (Harmon) Miller. He was raised by Homer and Pearl Dibert.
On June 29, 1946, he married Mary Elizabeth Frahm, who died Aug. 29, 1985.
Surviving is a son, Paul (Sharon) of Mendon; a daughter, Miriam (Kraig) Johns, St. Marys; a brother, Harold W. (Annabelle) of Convoy; a sister, Doris Johnson, Decatur, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Delores of Albion, Ind.; and five grandchildren.
A brother, Clifford, is deceased.
A retired farmer, he was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Hopewell township, and former member of the Mendon-Union School board of education and was a Union Township Trustee.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Debra Domeier officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton-Bethel Cemetery, Mendon.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday at W. H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, and one hour ahead of the service at the church on Monday.

William Robertson
William Joseph Robertson, 25, 6047 Childrens Home-Bradford Road, Greenville, died at 7:58 a.m. April 3, 2003, due to injuries received in a traffic accident in Darke County.
He was born June 3, 1977, in Piqua to Ann M. Adams and Terry Robertson. His mother survives in Greenville and his father in Tennessee. He is the step-son of Dick Lucas, Greenville.
Surviving is a daughter, Cheyenne Fritz, Greenville; his fiancee, Wendy Fritz, Greenville; a brother, Timothy of Greenville; two step-brothers, Jeffrey and Phillip, both of Tennessee; a sister, Holli Grove, Pennsylvania; grandparents, Marion and Fern Adams, Covington; and step-grandparents, Gerald and Velma Lucas, Greenville.
Deceased are his grandparents, Luther and Laura Mae Robertson.
He was a police officer with the Versailles Police Department since January 1999. He was a 1995 graduate of Greenville High School and member of the Greenville FFA. He was a member of the Greenville American Legion, Covington Eagles Lodge, Greenville Masonic Lodge No. 143, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton Eagle Scout Troop 145 and HOG Club.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, followed by a celebration of life at 8 p.m. at the Lucas farm at 6047 Childrens Home-Bradford Road, Greenville. The Revs. Nick Beam and Chuck Boomhower will officiate.
Calling is 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A Masonic memorial service will be conducted by the Greenville Masonic Lodge at 7 p.m. Sunday, followed by the Scottish Rite Ring Service.

Carolyn Snider
Carolyn "Billie" Snider, 89, formerly of 115 Celina St., Celina, died at 4:02 a.m. April 4, 2003, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community, where she was a resident.
She was born April 8, 1913, in Hillsdale, Mich., to John and Ida Fackler Handley. On Aug. 25, 1941, she was married Arthur Snider, who died Dec. 29, 1996.
Surviving are two sons, Terry of Dover and Craig (Vicky) of St. Joseph, Mo.; three daughters, Carolyn of St. Marys, Allis (Tom) Real, Cortland, and Barbara (Larry) Shockling, Pittsburgh, Pa; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters, three brothers and a son-in-law, David Smith.
She was a 1930 graduate of Jackson High School and was a licensed practical nurse, retiring from the former Otis Hospital in Celina after 40 years of service. She was a member of the former Mercer County History Club and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Celina.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Stephen Merold officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.

Nina Chaney
Nina W. Chaney, 84, formerly of 937 S. Elm St., Celina, died at 6:50 a.m. April 3, 2003, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 3, 1919, in Randolph, Ind., to Ernest and Elizabeth Kershner Harter. Her husbands, Carl Felver, Lester Germann and Harvey Lee Chaney, are deceased.
Surviving are two sons, Earnest (Betty) Felver, Rockford, and Robert Felver, Celina; three daughters, Delight (Gary) Fox, Rockford, Irene Germann, Celina, and Darlene (Tony) Salisbury, Chattanooga; a stepdaughter, Lois Johnson, Conner, Mont.; a brother, Dale (Betty) Harter, Celina; a sister, Millie Dunham, Union City; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are five brothers, James, Raymond, Charles, Gene and Albert; two sisters, Wilma Heppeard and an infant; two stepsisters, Francis Booher and Billi Snider; and a grandson.
She retired from Huffy Bicycle Co. in 1981 and was a member of Montezuma Church of Christ.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Kevin Neumann officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens near St. Marys.

Donald Magoteaux
Donald L. Magoteaux, 51, 2761 Byrket Road, Greenville, died at 7:35 p.m. April 2, 2003, at his residence. Death was due to natural causes.
He was born Nov. 14, 1951, in Dayton, to Sylvester and Lois Jean Gilbert Magoteaux, who both survive in Piqua. On Aug. 2, 1985, he married Robin Beth Richmond who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Shaye Ehrnschwender, Springboro, and Summer Magoteaux, of Florida; three brothers, Steve and Jeff, both of Piqua, and Dale, of Cincinnati; a sister, Judy Smith, Englewood; and a grandson.
He was employed at Cooper Farms in Fort Recovery.
Private services are planned. Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, has charge of arrangements.

Eileen Cole
Former Celina resident Eileen Brown Cole, 86, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., died at 5:55 p.m. March 31, 2003, at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living Center in Port St. Lucie.
She was born Oct. 25, 1916, in Celina, to William J. and Bess Jenkins Brown.
Surviving are a son, William E. of Columbus, and a brother, William W. (Jean E.) Brown, Fort Pierce, Fla.
She was a former Mercer County recorder and a past national president of the Ohio State Alumnae. She was a homemaker and held a private pilot's license.
No memorial service is planned at the present time.

Ronald Kittle
Former Celina resident Ronald "Ronnie" E. Kittle, 69, of Stedman, N.C., died April 1, 2003, at his residence of an apparent heart attack.
He was born Sept. 10, 1933, to Louis E. and Vivell Sanders Kittle. His wife, the former Joan Sprague, is deceased.
Surviving are two daughters, Demona Burns and Sue; a brother, Rodger of Celina; a sister, Rosa Schott, Coldwater; and a grandson.
Deceased are four brothers, Royce, Robert, Richard and Ray, and a sister, Ruth Rickard.
He was a retired Baptist minister and painter. A 1951 Celina High School graduate, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
Services are Friday at the Baptist church in Fayetteville, N.C.
Terry Moots
Terry Lee Moots, 66, 705 Stoneybrook Drive, St. Marys, died suddenly at 10:50 a.m. April 2, 2003, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Aug. 23, 1936, in East Liberty, to Elza and Opal Seaman Moots. On Sept. 13, 1958, he married Dixie Westbay and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, DeWaine (Pam) of New Bremen and Tim (Annette) of Wapakoneta; a daughter, Teresa (Patrick) Schemmel, McCartyville; two sisters, Nancy (Tom) Fortman and Sandy (Emmett) Shoup, both of St. Marys; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Moots, Cridersville; and seven grandchildren.
A brother, Jack, is deceased.
A 1955 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School, he was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 767, both of St. Marys. He had served as a Boy Scout adviser for many years and spent the winter months in Port Charlotte, Fla.
Services are 1 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. David Woodyard officiating. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
