Ricky LaVerne Boroff
Ricky LaVerne Boroff, 51, who resided at Heinzerling Developmental Center, Columbus, died at 2:02 p.m. May 10, 2001 at Grant Hospital, Columbus.
He was born Aug. 13, 1949, to Paul LaVerne Boroff, who is deceased, and Evelyn (Pond) Carpenter, who lives near Rockford.
Survivors are a stepfather, William Carpenter, Rockford; a half brother, Gary, of Celina; a stepbrother, Rick Carpenter, Florida; a stepbrother and his wife, Jeffrey and Kathy Carpenter, Columbus; two stepsisters and their husbands, Deborah and D.J. Head, Baton Rouge, La., and Tamara and Jay Vance, Jensen Beach, Fla.; and a stepsister, Melissa Carpenter, Jensen Beach, Fla.
Deceased is his sister, Linda Kay.
Graveside services are 1 p.m. Monday at North Grove Cemetery, the Rev. Kenneth Baker officiating.
There is no calling.
W. H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, is handling arrangements.

Irvin Barta
Former Celina resident Irvin M. Barta, 73, Columbus, died May 13, 2001 at Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus.
He was born Jan. 6, 1928, in Columbus, to John N. and Elizabeth (Yuhas) Barta. He married Nancy (Brunner) Barta who survives.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, Brian and Colleen, and two sons, Vance and John; two daughters, Bev Ann and Karen; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Brunner Doty and Lorena Barta; seven grandchildren, a stepgrandaughter, and a great-granddaughter.
Deceased are three brothers, John, Albert and Ernest, and a sister, Irma Santo.
He was retired from Huffy Bicycles, Celina, and a professional engineer and former owner of Welding Supply Service. He was a U.S. Navy Air Service veteran of World War II, and a member of Knights of Columbus, Celina. He was a member of St. Catharine's Catholic Church, Columbus, companion of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, Cum Christo of Columbus, Catholic Charismatic Renewal, past president of Newman Center-Ohio State University, past member of Rotary Club Downtown Columbus, Rotary Club of Worthington, and past president of Rotary Club, Celina. He was a member of the American Welding Society, Columbus chapter, and past chairman of American Society of Metals.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, Msgr. David Sorohan officiating. Burial is at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Lockbourne.
Calling is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Maeder-Quint-Tiberi Funeral Home, Columbus.

H. Lane Brown
H. Lane Brown, 76, 11251 East Drive, St. Marys, died at 6:45 a.m. May 13, 2001 at his home.
He was born June 29, 1924, in Jackson County, N.C., to Edwin and Ora (Hooper) Brown. In 1954, he married Theo Townsend who died in April 1996.
Survivors are two stepsons and their wives, Larry and Jenny Townsend, St. Marys, and Bill and Juanita Townsend, Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; two brothers, Henry of Sterling Heights, Mich., and Edwin of Franklin, Tenn.; two sisters, Emma Jo Nicholson and Imogene, both of Tuckasegee, N.C., seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was retired from Ford Motor Company, Lima Engine Plant. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a life member of Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 1275, Lima, and a member of Spencerville American Legion.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Hartford Cemetery, near Spencerville, where military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 1275.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.
Contributions can be made to Darke-Mercer County Hospice.

Darrel Dock
Darrel G. Dock, 73, of Lima, died at 1:30 a.m. May 12, 2001 at Burton's Ridge, Lima.
He was born Sept. 30, 1927, in Lima, to Celina natives Doran L. and Helen (Gibson) Dock. On June 30, 1950, he married Marilyn J. Simmons who died Oct. 16, 1998.
Survivors are a son and his wife, Philip A. and Sharon of Cleveland; a daughter and her husband, Lisa and Robert Boop, Phoenix, Ariz., and a daughter Sue E. of Charleston, S.C.; and three grandchildren.
He was a retired chief chemist with Sohio (Vistron) of Lima, and a U.S. Army veteran in chemical warfare. He was a member of Market Street Presbyterian Church, Lima, American Legion Post 96, Lima, National Rifle Association, Allen County Historical Society, Johnny Appleseed Park District, Tri State Gun Collectors and past president of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He was a graduate of Lima South High School and DePaul University, Chicago, Ill.
Military rites services conducted by Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 1275 are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shawnee Chapel of Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Lima, the Rev. Richard Sheffield officiating.
Contributions can be made to the church, Allen County Museum or Johnny Appleseed Park District.

Dwight Little
Dwight B. Little, 77, 225 S. Brandon Ave., Celina, died at 1:45 p.m. May 13, 2001 at his residence.
He was born July 22, 1923, in Bluffton, Ind. to Howard E. and Lillian Marie (Brown) Little.
On Dec. 17, 1977 he married Mary Hindenlang, who survives.
Other survivors are a sister and her husband, Norma A. and Ray Stair, Bluffton, Ind.
Deceased is a sister, Rubene Mock.
He was retired from General Electric in Decatur, Ind. He was a member of Celina First Church of God, Celina American Legion Post 210, and was a United States Army veteran who served in the 82nd 101st Airborne division during World War II.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Stephen L. Dunn officiating. Burial is at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the church or Darke/Mercer Co. Hospice.

Robert Plunkett
Robert W. Plunkett, 86, died at 2:20 p.m. May 13, 2001 at Piqua Manor Nursing Home. He was born Oct. 8, 1914, in Miami County, to Jeremiah and Emma (Elifritz) Plunkett. On Dec. 5, 1936, he married Mary K. Dock who survives.
Other survivors are two sons and their wives, Jerry and Sylvia and Fred and Pauline, all of Piqua, and a son, Jim of Chesapeake, Va.; two brothers, Jessie and Bernard, both of Fletcher; two sisters and their husbands, Betty and Hayes Wilt, Fletcher, and Jeanie and Rex Dock, Celina; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Mary Gustin, and a brother, Frank.
He was retired as an auto body repairman from the Piqua Wheel Co., and was a former member of the Fletcher Fire Department.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Suber Funeral Home, Fletcher. Burial is at Fletcher Cemetery.
Calling is from noon Wednesday until time of services at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the Fletcher Fire Department.

Lucille Sommer
Former Minster resident Lucille M. Sommer, 87, died at 8:20 p.m. May 11, 2001, at Otterbein Retirement Community, St. Marys.
She was born Jan. 13, 1914, in Botkins, to Joseph and Edith (Craft) Wesbecher. On Feb. 23, 1938, she married Herbert B. Sommer who died Sept. 9, 1992.
Survivors are a son and his wife, William and Linda of Covington; two daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Elmer Broering, Burkettsville, and Marilyn and Lee Fortkamp, Minster; a sister and her husband, Viola and Louis Hemmert, Botkins; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, and its St. Monica Ladies Sodality.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Revs. Matt Jozefiak and Albert Reed officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

Jerry Wehnes
Jerry L. Wehnes, 56, of Celina, died May 12, 2001 at Dayton Veterans Administration Hospital.
He was born March 9, 1945, in St. Marys, to Russell F. and Margaret (McDermitt) Wehnes.
Survivors are two sons and their wives, Russell and Audrey, Celina, and Jerry and Teresa of St. Marys; two daughters and their husbands, Kim and Steve Carr, Celina, and Mary and Eddie Atwood, Sikes, La.; two brother and their wives, Larry and Carolyn of St. Marys, and Gary of Stafford, Va.; a sister, Deborah Blakley, Delphos; a stepmother, Dorothy of St. Marys; and 13 grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Marine Corp. veteran and a Disabled Vietnam Veteran.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Dayton National Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Brough-Getts Funeral Home, Miamisburg

Rose Uhlenhake
Rose Marie "Rodie" Uhlenhake, 73, 261 Spring St., St. Henry, died at 7:25 p.m. May 14, 2001 at her residence.
She was born July 25, 1927, in North Star, to Grover George and Goldie Mae Henry. On August 26, 1950, she married Paul Uhlenhake, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons and their wives, Gary and Dianne of St. Marys, and Jeffery and Cheri of St. Henry; a daughter and her husband, Joyce and Chris Davell, Boca Raton, Fla.; a sister and her husband, Marilyn and Richard Borgerding, New Weston; a sister-in-law, Marilyn George, Ansonia; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Deceased are three sisters, Lucille Marshal, Priscilla Gumper, and Patricia George, and two brothers, Wayne and Robert.
She was a homemaker and worked at the former Huffy Bicycle Co., Celina, and was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. on Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry. A wake service is 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Contributions can be made to Mercer-Darke Co. Hospice or American Lung Association.

Robert Jones
Robert Sherman Jones M.D., 61, of Columbia, Mo., died at his home on May 14, 2001.
He was born Dec. 20, 1939, in St. Louis, Mo., to Dr. Otey Sherman Jones and Hilda (Jenneman) Jones. On Feb. 17, 1968, he married Debbora Dues, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Matthew of Columbia; a brother and his wife, Dr. John Paul and Prudence of Williamston, Mich.; a sister and her husband, Alice and Bill Stallings, St. Louis, Mo.; two half-sisters and their husbands, Marian and Jack Coffman, Mountainview, Ark., and Harriet and Lynn Ward, Hollywood, Fla.; a half-brother, Thomas of St. Louis, Mo.; a mother-in-law, Margaret Wilma Dues, Celina; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Wilfrid and Kristine Dues, Eaton.
Deceased is his father-in-law, Wilfred P. Dues.
He was retired as a staff psychiatrist at Mid Missouri Mental Health where he previously served as superintendent, and had worked for the Missouri Department of Health. After retirement, he worked for the University of Missouri Department of Psychiatry and Butterfield Youth Services of Marshall, Mo. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Columbia, Mo., the American Psychiatric Association and the Central Mo Hemercallis Society. He graduated from CBC High School, St. Louis, Mo., St. Louis University and University of Missouri School of Medicine.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, Msgr. Michael Flanagan officiating. Burial is at 10 a.m. Friday at Columbia Cemetery.
Calling is 7-9 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home, Columbia, Mo.
Contributions can be made to the church building fund and Butterfield Youth Services.
