Arthur Shroyer
Arthur L. Shroyer, 82, 318 S. Mill St., Botkins, died at 6:55 p.m. May 14, 2001 at Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home.
He was born September 15, 1918, near Quincy, to Oscar and Olive (Kiser) Shroyer. On September 27, 1940 he married Margaret Wehmeyer who survives.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, Edward and Mary Ann of Wapakoneta; a daughter and her husband, Annette and Thomas Barlow, Manchester, Conn.; a brother, Sherman of Kettlersville; a sister and her husband, Helen and Paul Pulfer, Maplewood, and a sister, Dorthea Teeters, Celina; and two granddaughters.
Deceased is a son, Allen R.
He was the former mayor of Port Jefferson. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served as Staff Sergeant with the 2nd Battalion 115th Infantry Regiment 29th Division. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Kettlersville, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2216, Jackson Center, and a member of Disabled American Veterans of Shelby County.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. James Melter officiating. Burial is at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 3-7 p.m. Friday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, and 9:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.

Leander Timmerman
Leander H. Timmerman, 83, 2728 Hiestand Road, Rossburg, died at 6:05 a.m. May 15, 2001 at Versailles Health Care Center.
He was born Dec. 25, 1917, in Fort Recovery, to Bernard and Catherine (Bruns) Timmerman. On April 14, 1945, he married Rose Ann Uhlenhake, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons and their wives, Kenneth and Lynne of Ansonia, and Steven and Penny of Union City, Ind.; two daughters and their husbands, Diane and Larry Runkel, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Elaine and Bruce Correll, Bethlehem, Pa.; two sisters and their husbands, Dorothy and Robert Pax, St. Henry, and Betty and Roman Pax, Portland, Ind., and a sister, Rita Wendel, Fort Recovery; and 10 grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, Melvin, William, Thomas and Robert, and a sister, Rosemary Metzger.
He was a retired farmer and member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, and its Holy Name Society.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Matthew Jozefiak officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.

Lawrence Baumer
Lawrence F. Baumer, 82, 01923 Ohio 119, Minster, died at 4:51 a.m. May 16, 2001 at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
He was born Jan. 28, 1919, in Minster, to Henry and Agnes (Heitkamp) Baumer.
Survivors are three sisters, Pauline Busse and Viola, both of Minster, and Corrine Mangen, Versailles; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Julius and Leander.
He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster.
Funeral Mass is 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. William Hoyng officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Friday and noon-1 p.m. Saturday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen.
Frederick Dicke
Frederick C. "Fritz" Dicke, 89, 1317 Knoxville Ave., St. Marys, died at 9:13 a.m. May 16, 2001, at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys.
He was born Jan. 28, 1912, in New Bremen, to Edwin and Alice (Niemeyer) Dicke. On Jan. 15, 1935, he married Cornelia Hirsch who died Feb. 24, 2000.
Survivors are a brother and his wife, Dale and Catherine of Defiance; a sister and her husband, Eloise and Emerson Christman, Tipp City; and two sisters-in-law, Ledema and Louise, both of New Bremen.
Deceased are four brothers, Woodrow, Franklin, Paul and Richard, and two infant children, Emily and Michael.
He was retired as a rural mail carrier at the St. Marys branch of the U.S. Postal Service. He was a Staff Sergeant and U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the 69th Division earning the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a member of American Legion Post 323 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289, both of St. Marys. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Patricia Minnick officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Royce Spindler
Royce A. Spindler, 15, of Rockford, died at 12:45 a.m. May 16, 2001 at Van Wert County Hospital of natural causes.
He was born Feb. 22, 1986, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Russell R. and Annette V. (Minnich) Spindler.
Other survivors are a brother, Regis, at home; and grandparents, Jon and Patricia Minnich, Convoy, and Margaret Louise of Hoagland, Ind.
Deceased are a half-brother, Randy Sovine, and a grandfather, Paul.
He was an eighth-grader at Parkway Local Schools and a member of the school choir. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Rockford.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Revs. Thomas Brenberger and Clement Alt officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling is 2-8:30 p.m. Friday and 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, with a prayer service at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Pauline Warren
Pauline I. Warren, 96, Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, Ind., died at 1:15 p.m. May 16, 2001 at Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester, Ind.
She was born April 12, 1905, in Fort Recovery, to William Cornelius and Nettie Christina (Wendel) Isenhart. On October 19, 1930, she married Howard C. Warren who died in 1989.
Other survivors are two sons, John Howard of Troy, and Richard Neil of Fort Meyers, Fla.; three grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother and three sisters.
She worked as a secretary for Peabody Seating Co. and at Manchester College. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in North Manchester, a charter member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, New Manchester, and a member of Tri Kappa. She was a former member of Lutheran Church in Fort Recovery. She was a graduate of Muncie Central High School.
Services are noon Saturday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, North Manchester, Ind., the Revs. Jeffrey L. Hawkins and Sabine Thomas officiating. Burial is at Elmridge Cemetery, Muncie, Ind.
Calling is 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the chapel.

Ethel Longsworth
Former Van Wert resident, Ethel L. Longsworth, 83, died at 7:50 p.m. May 16, 2001 at Laurel's of Shane Hill Nursing Home, Rockford.
She was born May 4, 1918, in Rockford, to Otto and Nora (Stover) Lynn. On Dec. 12, 1942, she married Gene Longsworth, who died in December 1983.
Survivors are a son, Clifford of Van Wert; a daughter and her husband, Ruth and Gary Davis, Rockford; and a daughter, Geraldine Hall, Van Wert; two brothers and their wives, Gene and Doradeen Lynn of Florida, and Robert and Beatrice Lynn, Rockford, and a brother, Herman Lynn, Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister and her husband, Janet and Charles Heureux, Russell's Point, and a sister Alice Bruns, Rockford; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother.
She was a cook and worked at Straley Farms, Van Wert. She was a member of Celina Baptist Temple.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Steve Clayton officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
There are no calling hours.

Guillermo Luna Sr.
Former Celina resident Guillermo Luna Sr., 75, Lakeland, Fla., died May 15, 2001 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, Lakeland, Fla.
He was born June 25, 1925, in San Benito, Texas to Martin and Rosa Menial Luna.
Survivors are three sons, Guillermo Jr. of Marion, Ricardo of Tiffin, and Carlos of Lakeland, Fla.; two daughters, Irma Chaney and Beatrice, both of Lakeland, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was a laborer and worked in the canning industry.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Lakeland, Fla.
There are no calling hours and services will be held locally at a later date.
Funeral arrangements were handled by David Russell Funeral Home of Lakeland, Fla.
Donald Schramm
Former Portland, Ind. resident, Donald A. Schramm, 92, died May 17, 2001 at Century Villa, Greentown, Ind.
He was born March 28, 1909, in Portland, Ind., to Henry C. and Lula E. (Reid) Schramm. On September 9, 1930, he married Catharine M. Mitchell, who died January 4, 1993.
Survivors are a son and his wife, Rev. David and Joyce of Kokomo, Ind.; a daughter and her husband, Nancy and James Storer, Oregon; a sister, Wilma Allen, Martinsville, Ind.; six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Richard.
He was a teacher at Redkey, Bryant and Fort Recovery high schools, and was named Ohio State Teacher of the Year in 1971. He served as president and general manager of the Portland Silo Company. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and its Homemakers Class, Portland Lions Club, Masonic Lodge #17 of Whitehall, Mont., and the Scottish Rite of Helena, Mont. He was a graduate of Portland High School and Ohio State University.
Services are noon Saturday in the Portland Chapel of Williamson & Spencer Funeral Home, Portland, Ind., Revs. Keith Olson and Gerald Hewson officiating. Burial is at Green Park Cemetery, Portland, Ind.
