Frances Ahlers
Former New Bremen resident Frances A. Ahlers, 84, died at 2:30 p.m. May 27, 2001 near her home in Clearwater, Fla.
She was born July 1, 1916, in St. Marys, to Charles and Rosena (Wibbler) Ruwoldt. On June 6, 1936, she married Harold Ahlers who died in 1976.
Survivors are a son and his wife, William and Joan of New Bremen; two daughters and their husbands, Roslyn and Homer Stutsman, Botkins, and Elaine and Ernie Covault, Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Marcella Johnson, Jackson, Mich.; 12 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a daughter, Jeanette Guffey.
She was a homemaker and member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and Woodman of the World Camp 149, both of New Bremen.
Services will held at a later date.

Larry Bollenbacher
Larry W. Bollenbacher, 64, of Portland, Ind., died at 9:52 a.m. May 26, 2001 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born Dec. 3, 1936, in Jay County, Ind., to Alvin and Pauline (Rupert) Bollenbacher. His mother and her husband, David Beal, survive in Hot Springs, Fla. On Oct. 1, 1957, he married Shirley A. Tyndall who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Terry W. of Elora, Ind., and Allen L. of Pennville, Ind.; a daughter and her husband, Rinada and David Davis, Pennsville, Ind.; a sister and her husband, Mary Lou and Robert Switzer, Geneva, Ind.; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchildren.
He was a self-employed welder, the former town marshal for Geneva, Ind., and retired from the Adams County Co-Op Assoc. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Geneva, Ind. He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Fort Recovery, and a graduate of Geneva High School and the army's welding school.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Downing Funeral Home, Geneva, Ind., the Rev. Robert Sutton officiating. Burial with military graveside services performed by the Geneva Veterans of Foreign Wars is at West Lawn Cemetery, Geneva, Ind.
Calling is 3-9 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Thelma Brooks
Fort Recovery native Thelma I. Brooks, 76, of Union City, died May 28, 2001 at her home.
She was born March 2, 1925, in Fort Recovery, to John and Clara (Homan) Rammel. She married Joe Brooks who died in 1971.
Survivors are two sons and their wives, Richard and Elaine, and Curt and Ann, all of Union City; two daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Steve Hufford, Wooster, and Kathy and Tom Hamilton, Union City; two brothers, Robert Rammel, Fort Recovery, and Ralph Rammel, Bluffton; two sisters, Lucy Matchett, Fort Recovery, and Dorothy Ortlip, Mountain Home, Ark.; and 13 grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Eugene Rammel, and a sister, Dolores Reed.
She was a homemaker and member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Union City, Ind., and its Rosary Society.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Alan Funk officiating. Burial is at Union City Cemetery, Union City, Ind.
Calling is 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at Reichard Funeral Home, Union City, Ind.

Genevieve Bruns
Genevieve B.Z. Bruns, 89, 7407 Ohio 119, Maria Stein, died at 11:46 a.m. May 28, 2001 at Briarwood Nursing Home, Coldwater.
She was born Dec. 7, 1911, in Clinton County, to August and Ethel (Tuttle) George. On June 6, 1946, she married Arthur Bruns who survives.
Other survivors are two daughters and their husbands, Dolores and Bill Starr, New Bremen, and Janie and Phil Luebke, Maria Stein, and a daughter, Emily Bruns, Miamisburg; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters and four brothers.
She was a teacher at the former St. John High School (now Marion Local Schools) and helped establish Cheryl Ann School in Celina. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and its Ladies Rosary Alter Sodality and a parish CCD teacher. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Maria Stein.
Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.

Evelyn Foster
Evelyn E. "Erma" Foster, 90, 761 Susan Drive, Van Wert, died at 9 a.m. May 28, 2001, at VanCrest Health Care Center, Van Wert.
She was born April 24, 1911, in Hoaglin Township, Van Wert County, to Ira F. and Elizabeth C. (Adam) Eller. On Aug. 20, 1935, she married Wayne Bradford Foster, who died March 18, 2000.
Survivors are three sons and their wives, Larry and Betty, and Bobby and Vickie, all of Van Wert, and Dennis and Jill of Sevierville, Tenn., and a son, Gregg of Mansfield; two daughters and their husbands, Janice Irene and Don Bollenbacher, Decatur, Ind., and Connie and Kenneth Kundert, Middle Point; 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased is an infant sister, Mary Eller.
She was a homemaker and secretary for Hoaglin-Jackson School, a former member of Zion Christian Union Church and Ladies Aid. She attended Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert. She was a graduate of Hoaglin-Jackson High School.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Neil Hammons officiating. Burial is at Middle Creek Cemetery, Paulding County.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

James Gehrlich
Wapakoneta native James W. Gehrlich, 77, 1532 Deming Drive, Orlando, Fla., died at 6:32 p.m. May 25, 2001 at University Hospital, Cincinnati.
He was born Jan. 2, 1924, in Wapakoneta, to George and Louise (Kohler) Gehrlich. On Sept. 1, 1946, he married Ruth M. Grilliot who survives.
Survivors are four sons and their wives, Ronald W. and Linda of Cincinnati, Jeffrey A. and Dianna of Fairfield, David L. and Judy of Fairfield, and Keith M. and Shannon of West Chester, and a son, James L. of New York City, N.Y.; three daughters and their husbands, Deborah and John Burden, Orlando, Fla., Karen and Pat Martens, Toledo, and Marsha and Rick Semple, Concord, N.C.; a brother and his wife, Edward and Frances of Wapakoneta; a sister and her husband, Mary Louise and Elmer Neumeier, Wapakoneta; 28 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, Daniel S., four brothers, Cletus, Clarence, George, and Carl, and two sisters, Srs. Angelina and Tharcisa.
He worked for Home Builder in Wapakoneta and Orlando, Fla. He was a member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, Orlando, Fla., and a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a member of the Eagles Lodge of Wapakoneta and Orlando. He was a graduate of the former St. Joseph High School, Wapakoneta.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, the Rev. Peter Chiodo officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. today at Long & Folk Funeral Home, Wapakoneta Chapel, with a Christian prayer service held at 8 p.m.

Clifford Grey
Clifford L. Grey, 67, 3948 Mud Pike, Celina, died at 2:53 p.m. May 28, 2001 at his residence.
He was born March 10, 1934, in Celina, to Charles and Mary (Rider) Grey. On Sept. 17, 1955, he married Sue Dameron, who survives.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, Jeff and Kay of Fort Recovery; a daughter, Lisa Allmandinger, Celina; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was a retired design engineer at Stamco, New Bremen, and at Minster Machine. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War, a member of the American Legion, the Mercer County Elks, and attended Grace Missionary Church, Celina.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Steve Howell officiating. Burial will be at Swamp College Cemetery.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Clifford L. Grey
Funeral services for Clifford L. Grey were at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cisco Funeral home, the Rev. Steve Howell officiated. Sharon Chaney was the organist, and Angie Stoner was the soloist.
Military rites were conducted by the American Legion #210 and Veterans of Foreign Wars #5713.
Pallbearers to Swamp College Cemetery were Gery Thobe, Martin Emerine, Terry Shideler, Craig Burkhart, Jim Purdy and Bob Riethman.
Joseph Olding
Joseph P. Olding, 19, Brookville, died May 26, 2001 in an automobile accident on Verona Road, Lewisburg.
He was born Dec. 10, 1981, in Flint, Mich., to John P. and Laura R. (Reichert) Olding who survive in Brookville.
Other survivors are two sisters, Danielle R. of Dayton, and Mary Kathereen of Brookville; and grandparents, Virginia Olding of Pine Island, Fla., and, John Reichert, Fort Recovery.
Deceased is a grandfather, Paul Olding, and a grandmother, Julitta Reichert.
He worked as an electrician for Fisher Electric, Lewisburg, and was a graduate of Tri-County North High School.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rita Catholic Church, Dayton, the Rev. Kenneth Baker officiating. Burial is at Arlington Cemetery, Brookville.

Robert Spencer
Celina native Robert R. Spencer, 28, 383 N. Wiley St., Crestline, died at 10:24 p.m. May 27, 2001, at his home of a self-inflicted gun shot wound.
He was born on Sept. 30, 1972, in Celina, to Steven and Nina J. (Stein) Spencer. His father survives in Elida and his mother survives in Celina.
Other survivors are a son, Morgan Spencer; a brother, Steven of Celina; and a sister and her husband, Julie and Matthew Johnson, Sparta, Mich.
He worked as a supervisor for Wayne Homes, and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Celina. He was a graduate of Celina High School and Bowling Green University.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating. Burial is at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and 10 a.m. Thursday until time of services at the church.
