Allen Henschen
Allen N. Henschen, 75, 06584 Holtkamp Road, New Knoxville, died at 11:15 a.m. May 12, 2002, in the emergency room at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, following an apparent heart attack.
He was born Nov. 21, 1926, on the family farm near New Knoxville, to Herman and Louise (Eschmeyer) Henschen. On May 6, 1951, he married Marge Smith and she survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, Tom and Marlene, and a son, Terry, all of New Knoxville; a daughter and her husband, Trina and Steve Gast, also of New Knoxville; and two grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Alfred, and a sister, Esther Oyer.
He was a lifelong farmer and owner of Almar Farms in New Knoxville. A 1945 graduate of New Knoxville High School, he was a member and former deacon of Faith Alliance Church, New Bremen. He formerly was a member of First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, where he had been superintendent of the Sunday School Department.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Dean Greenwood officiating. Burial will be at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home, New Knoxville.

Kayla Kipfer
Kayla C. Kipfer, 11, 6955 W. 200 S., Bluffton, Ind., was pronounced dead on arrival at 6:35 a.m. May 10, 2002, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She died following a fire at 201 Sprague St., Willshire, where members of her family had been staying the past two days.
She was born July 12, 1990, in Bluffton, to Troy and Brenda (Hess) Kipfer. They survive.
Also surviving are two brothers, Johnathon and Taylen, both at home; the grandparents, John and Susan Kipfer, Bluffton, and Howard and Judy Hess, Willshire; and two great-grandmothers, Ada Gerber, Bluffton, and Bernice Miller, Berne, Ind.
Deceased are a brother, Seth William, and a sister, Sierra Sky.
She was a fifth-grade student at Adams Central Schools and attended Apostolic Christian Church, Bluffton.
Services were Monday afternoon at the church. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
Goodwin Memorial Chapel, Bluffton, had charge of arrangements.
Christina Leugers
Christina C. Leugers, 87, 13491 Ohio 118, Rossburg, died at 9 a.m. May 13, 2002, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
She was born May 21, 1914, in St. Wendelin, to Aloys and Mary Ann (Brackman) Guggenbiller. On Dec. 26, 1935, she married Frank Leugers and he died Aug. 27, 1997.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, Robert and Delores of Fort Recovery, Clarence and Sue of Versailles and Marion and Mary of Greenville; three daughters, Ruth Ann Behr, Fort Loramie, Janet Coblentz, Versailles, and Carolyn Leugers, Rossburg; 28 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Florentz, Carl and Leo Guggenbiller; four sisters, Martha Fecher, Cordula Post, Emma Zumberger and Ida Guggenbiller; a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Fort Recovery High School and Miami University, Oxford. She was a retired teacher and a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Julia Stahl
Julia M. Stahl, 69, 332 Anthony Drive, St. Henry, died at 9:42 p.m. May 12, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born May 15, 1932, in St. Henry, to Harry and Margaret (Severt) Romer. On Feb. 28, 1953, she married Louis J. Stahl and he survives.
Also surviving are four sons and their wives, Mike and Sandy of St. Henry, Dave and Patti of Fort Recovery, Doug and Theresa of Greenville and Nick and Lori of Columbus, and a son, Phil of Dayton; a daughter and her husband, Lynne and Dale Hess, St. Henry; three sisters and their husbands, Verna and Louis Buschor and Kay and Jerry Dippold, all of St. Henry, and Donnie and Eldon Welch, Union City, Ind., and two sisters, Myra Delzeith, St. Henry, and Ann Hoening, Coldwater; a sister-in-law, Janet Ohlrach, Estes Park, Colo.; and 10 grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Harry Jr. and Lowell Romer; a sister, Vivian Romer; two brothers-in-law, John Delzeith and Joe Hoening; and a sister-in-law, Ann Romer.
She was a homemaker and a 1950 graduate of St. Henry High School. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, the Altar-Rosary Society of the church and the Daughters of Isabella, all of St. Henry.
Funeral Mass is 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Araceli Atillo
Araceli L. "Sally" Atillo, 72, 95 Crestwood Drive, Minster, died at 2:35 a.m. May 14, 2002, at Riverside Medical Center, Columbus. She had been ill three months.
She was born Jan. 25, 1930, in Imuscavite, Philippines, to Ponciano and Basilia (Sayoc) Lapidario. On Jan. 31, 1965, she married Dr. Nicanor A. Atillo and he survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Nikki Lisa of St. James City, Fla.; a brother, Dr. Renapo Lapidario, Las Vegas, Nev.; and two sisters, Lucy Lapidario and Zenaida Tubellija, both of the Philippines.
She graduated from St. Thomas Medical College in the Philippines and trained as a pediatrician in Rochester, N.Y. She had worked as a volunteer in her husband's Minster medical office and was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster.

Fred Baumgardner Sr.
Fred Carl Baumgardner Sr., 79, 2010 Chadwick Drive, St. Marys, formerly of Audobon, N.J., died May 6, 2002, at Temple University, Philadelphia, Pa.
Surviving with his wife, Adele, are a son and his wife, Fred Carl and Kathleen of St. Marys; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Friday at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys, the Rev. David Heinl officiating.

Racinda Maxwell
Racinda Maxwell, 44, 3601 Ohio 703 East, Celina, died at 1 p.m. May 14, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. Death was due to natural causes.
She was born Jan. 8, 1958, in Celina, to Kenneth and Mariannis (May) Smith. The mother survives in Celina. On March 14, 1992, she married Douglas Maxwell and he survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Brandon Braun and Cody Maxwell, both of Celina; two daughters, Lynna Braun, Versailles, and Alisha Braun, Celina; a sister, Jennifer Hawkins (Baker), Celina; and one grandchild.
She had attended Celina High School. She was a homemaker and a member of New Life Christian Center.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Revs. Gary King and Doyle Fledderjohann officiating. Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.

Grace Schaefer
Grace M. Schaefer, 84, 1001 Myers Road, Celina, died at 8:35 a.m. May 15, 2002, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
She was born April 3, 1918, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Robert Lee and Georgia (Wentz) Birt. In 1937, she married Robert Kohn and he died Nov. 6, 1961. On May 26, 1963, she married Lawrence Schaefer and he died May 26, 1996.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Richard and Carol Kohn, Defiance, and Greg and Jane (Kennedy) Kohn, Atlanta, Ga.; three stepsons and their wives, William and Jan Schaefer, New Carlisle, Daniel and Dorothy Schaefer, Noblesville, Ind., and Richard and Judy Schaefer, Fort Wayne, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Maureen Baker, Naples, Fla., and Kathleen Schaefer, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister, Dorothy Buck, Celina; three sisters-in-law, Babe Kohn, Celina, Bea Birt, Orange County, Calif., and Kate Birt. Fredricksburg, Va.; three grandchildren, 13 stepgrandchildren and a great-grandson.
Deceased are three sons, including Dennis Kohn and two sons who died in infancy, and two brothers, Norman and Robert Birt.
She retired from Reynolds and Reynolds in Celina and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina.

Sister Cordelia Gast
Sister Mary Cordelia Gast, 85, a former Celina resident, died May 15, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton.
She was born May 21, 1916, in Celina, to Andrew and Emma (Gillig) Gast and given the name Mary Mechtild at baptism.
Surviving is a brother-in-law, Edward Kriegel, Celina.
A sister, Gertrude Kriegel, is deceased.
She entered the Sisters of the Precious Blood Aug. 30, 1930, and began her teaching career at the former St. John School in Maria Stein. Other teaching assignments included schools in Ottawa, Cleveland, Norwood and San Luis Rey, Calif. She was called to community leadership for eight years, first serving as southern region councilor and then as director.
She returned to Maria Stein after 41 years to become museum curator, tour guide and pilgrimage coordinator at the Maria Stein Shrine. Upon retirement in 1996, she moved to Salem Heights in Dayton.
Funeral Mass is 2 p.m. Monday at Salem Heights. Burial will be in Salem Heights Cemetery, Dayton.
Calling is 1-4:15 p.m. Sunday and 12:30-1:30 p.m. Monday at Salem Heights. A prayer service is planned there at 4:15 p.m. Sunday.
Cleo Howell
Cleo Dell (Felver) Howell, 82, of Marion, a longtime Celina resident, died May 16, 2002, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
Surviving with her husband, Paul Howell, are two sons, Dean and Milt; a daughter, Cleola Alspaugh; a brother, three sisters, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Noritta Sidle; four siblings and a granddaughter.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at St. Marys Nazarene Church.

Lucy Turner
Lucy J. Turner, 60, 214 N. Ash St., Celina, died at 8:05 a.m. May 16, 2002, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Sept. 24, 1941, in Zanesville, to Virgil Roy and Kathleen Hazel (Price) Turner. Her father and stepmother, Ruth (Houts) Turner, survive in Celina.
Also surviving are a brother and his wife, Robert N. and Sharon of Alamogordo, N.M.
She attended Harbor Junior College in Wilmington, Calif., and was a member of Celina First Church of God.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Monday at W.H. Dick and Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Richard VanHorn officiating. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Deerfield Cemetery near Malta in Morgan County.
