Charles Woods
Charles Robert "C.R." Woods, 4225 Swepsonville-Saxapahaw Road, Graham, N.C., formerly of Celina, died at 9:40 p.m. May 15, 2002, at his residence.
He was born in Celina to Arthur and Mary (Sink) Woods (his birthdate and age were not provided to the funeral home). His wife of 47 years, Nellie (Creech) Woods, died in 1995. He then married Eleandor King who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter and her husband, Patricia and Jeff Barbee, Graham, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Candace Stearns Woods, Cincinnati; a stepson, Michael Wood, and a stepdaughter, Catherine Pemberton, both of Raleigh, N.C.; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A son, Michael Alan Woods, is deceased.
He owned and operated C.R. Woods Roofing Co. in Celina from 1947 to 1970, when he moved to Burlington, N.C. A World War II veteran, he served with the U.S. Army in the European Theatre. He was a member of Front Street Christian Church, where he was a former elder and deacon, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose Lodge. He also was a founding member and past exalted ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Celina.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at W.H. Dick and Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. M. Stephen Merold officiating. Burial will be at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, Burlington, N.C.

Mildred Brehm
Mildred Brehm, 81, formerly of Oregon Road, Celina, died at 6:30 a.m. May 17, 2002, at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys.
She was born July 21, 1919, in Mercer County to Edwin and Frona (Bollenbacher) Bol-lenbacher. On June 1, 1940, she married Ralph Brehm, who died March 10, 1999.
Surviving is a daughter, Bonnie Barna, Celina; a daughter and her husband, Candy and Howard Courtney, Rockford; two sisters, Dorothy Bader and Donna Bollenbacher, both of Rockford; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
One brother, Herbert Bol-lenbacher, is deceased.
She was office manager for Heckler Electric and was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. John Fleming officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina.

Thomas Hierholzer
Thomas E. Hierholzer, 75, 209 Defiance St., St. Marys, died at 11:31 a.m. May 19, 2002, in the emergency room at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Jan. 12, 1927, in Celina, to Leo and Agnes (Winkeljohn) Hierholzer. On July 12, 1951, he married Joan L. Baker and she survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, David and Tracy of St. Marys; two daughters and their husbands, Roslyn and Ron Etter, Ashley, and Tess and Chad Elshoff, New Knoxville; a brother, John of Celina; a sister, Martha Dykstra, Bringham City, Utah; and four grandchildren.
Deceased are an infant son, Allan, and a brother, Charles.
He was owner of Trademark Concepts, a promotional advertising specialty shop in downtown St. Marys. He formerly owned the Baker Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge automobile dealership in St. Marys for many years. He was a 1945 graduate of Immaculate Conception School, Celina, and a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 767, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289, a member and two-time president of the St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce and a member and past president of the St. Marys Outing Club (Idewild), all of St. Marys.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. David A. Heinl officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys.
Contributions can be made to the Holy Rosary Church Piano Fund.

Luella Kessler
Luella "Lu" Kessler, 73, 507 E. Fulton St., Celina, died at 12:05 p.m. May 17, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati.
She was born Oct. 11, 1928, in Rossburg, to Walter F. and Anna (Martino) Lorton. On Feb. 13, 1947, she married Dale "Scoop" Kessler and he died Aug. 8, 1984.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Denny and Deb of Leesburg, Ind., and Larry and Connie of Fairfield; three brothers, Bernard Lorton, Hot Springs, Ark., Jake Lorton, West Milton, and Willie Lorton, Dayton; one sister, Marie Dirksen, Osgood; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, two sisters and a granddaughter.
She retired from Reynolds & Reynolds, Celina. She previously worked at Wilson Shoe Store, Celina, and prior to that time she and her husband owned and operated the Celina Sweet Shoppe. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Celina.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Kathleen Hayes officiating. Burial will be at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Corinne Marbaugh
Corinne A. Marbaugh, 48, 348 Bruns Ave., Celina, died at 11:10 p.m. May 18, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. Death was due to an apparent heart attack.
She was born March 1, 1954, in Piqua, to Joseph and Martha (Detrick) Varner. On Jan. 26, 1974, she married Michael Marbaugh and he survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, Nathaniel and Aubrey of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a daughter, Lanie of Columbus; two brothers, Steve Varner, Las Vegas, Nev., and Donald Varner, Farmington, N.M.; and a sister, Carol Ressler, Troy.
She was a fifth-grade teacher at Celina Intermediate School. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the church choir and director of the bell choir. She was a member of the local and state teacher associations.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Donald Ramsey officiating. Burial will be at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, and after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Corinne Marbaugh
Services for Corinne Marbaugh were 1:30 p.m. May 22, 2002, at Bethany United Methodist Church, Celina, the Rev. Donald Ramsey officiated.
Organist was June Bollenbacher and Gene Bollenbacher was soloist. Celina City Schools Superintendent Fred Wiswell gave the eulogy. Sally Tatham read a poem written by one of Marbaugh's students.
Pallbearers to North Grove Cemetery, Celina, were Mike Hecht, Alan and Joe Barga, Frank Borchers and Matt and Zach Pittsenbarger. Staff and co-workers from Celina Middle School served as honorary pallbearers.
Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, had charge of arrangements.

Matilda M. Rose
Matilda M. "Tillie" Rose, 92, Cranberry Road, St. Henry, died at 6:40 p.m. May 18, 2002, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
She was born Aug. 26, 1909, in Cassella, to Frank and Anna (Holdheide) Evers. On Jan. 21, 1931, she married Edwin Rose and he died Dec. 2, 1990.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, Donald and Beverly of St. Henry, Kenneth and Ramona of Fort Loramie and James and Jane of Brookville; four daughters and their husbands, Eileen and Robert Hess, Osgood, Doris and Lester Bohman, St. Henry, Margie and Mark Griesdorn, Maria Stein, and Sharon and David King, Lima, and a daughter, Therese Lefeld, Coldwater; a brother and his wife, Anthony and Marie Evers, St. Sebastian; two sisters, Agnes Schwieterman and Regina Schwieterman, both of St. Sebastian; 34 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Mary Ann; a son-in-law, David Lefeld; a sister, Mary Hartings; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Cranberry Prairie, the Rosary Altar Society of the church, the Knights of St. John Auxiliary, Maria Stein, and the Community Hospital Auxiliary, Coldwater.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. David Hoying officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
Contributions can be made to the St. Francis Church Building Fund.

Rev. Leonard Smith
The Rev. Leonard R. Smith, 91, 1123 Circle Drive, St. Marys, formerly of Celina, died at 3:15 a.m. May 18, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Sept. 28, 1910, in Hopewell Township, to John Philip and Vessie (Eichenauer) Smith. On Aug. 15, 1943, he married Mildred Stafford and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons and their wives, David and Jane of Toledo and William and Sally of Lake Villa, Ill.; two grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, James Lee.
He was a 1928 graduate of Celina High School and a 1943 graduate of Fort Wayne Bible College. He retired as a minister in 1977 after serving 32 years as a pastor with Evangelical United Brethren and United Methodist churches. He also spent two years doing mission work in Kentucky. He moved to Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community in 1997 and was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Revs. Don Ramsey and Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina.
Contributions can be made to the church or Otterbein St. Marys Chapel Fund.

Raymond Mock
Raymond L. Mock, 74, 440 N. Charles St., Portland, Ind., died May 19, 2002, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born June 2, 1927, in Portland, to Herman Cloyd and Helen (Teegarden) Mock. On May 6, 1994, he married Lilly Klenke and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Gary Mock, Decatur, Ind.; a daughter, Kathy McCabe, Anaheim, Calif.; two stepsons and their wives, Rod and Janice Klenke, Coldwater, and Rick and Karen Klenke, Fort Recovery; five grandsons, five stepgranddaughters and a stepgrandson.
He was a Portland police officer for 30 years and served as chief of police for eight years before retiring in 1987. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Goldwing Club Chapter T, Loyal Order of Moose, Disabled American Veterans and the Shrine, all of of Portland, and the Masonic Lodge of Pennville. He also was a charter member of the Antique Car Club.
Funeral Mass is 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Robert Reinhart officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 4-9 p.m. today at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland. A prayer service will be held there at 5 p.m.
Contributions can be made to the Jay County Heart Fund.

Sylvester Wilker
Sylvester D. Wilker, 83, 6372 Ohio 219, Celina, died at 1:15 a.m. today, May 21, 2002, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
He was born Sept. 5, 1918 , in Montezuma, to Joseph S. and Philomena (Woelk) Wilker. On April 23, 1941, he married Dorothy Studer and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons and their wives, Marvin and Verla and Roger and Judy, all of Celina; two daughters and their husbands, Jean and Don Adams and Barb and Mike Spriggs, all of Coldwater, and a daughter, Connie Heffner, Van Wert; a brother and his wife, Clete and Clara Ann of Coldwater; a sister and her husband, Mary Ann and Adolph Dorsten, Dayton, and two sisters, Edna Shunk, Dayton, and Ethel Klosterman, Montezuma; a brother-in-law, Paul Studer, Celina; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Studer, Dayton, and Wilma Wynk, Osgood; 14 grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Ray; a sister, Loretta Conners; a brother-in-law, Skip Heffner; a sister-in-law, Pam Wilker; and two grandchildren.
He retired from New Idea in Coldwater. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Montezuma, and the Holy Name Society of the church.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. James Dugal officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
Contributions can be made to St. Peter Neurological Center or Community Hospital Home Nursing Care.
