Arthur Boeckman
Arthur B. Boeckman, 77, 4610 St. Peter Road, Coldwater, died at 7:40 p.m. May 21, 2002, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
He was born Aug. 13, 1924, in Coldwater, to Albert and Julia (Homan) Boeckman. On July 26, 1950, he married Eileen Nieberding and she survives.
Also surviving are four sons and their wives, Tom and Linda, John and Linda and Dale and Connie, all of Coldwater, and Ron and Elly of Fort Recovery; two daughters and their husbands, Jane and Leo Homan and Diane and Doug Muhlenkamp, all of Coldwater; two brothers and their wives, Richard and Rita and Bill and Jane, all of Coldwater; a sister and her husband, Mary and Ralph Tumbusch, St. Henry; two sisters-in-law, Ethel Boeckman and Mary Agnes Boeckman, also of Coldwater; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Robert and Ralph, and a sister, Wilma.
A retired farmer, he was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society of the church and the Knights of Columbus, Coldwater.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Kenneth Alt officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.

Harold Kinkley
Mendon native Harold Vernon Kinkley, 85, of Sequim, Wash., died May 19, 2002, at Port Angeles, Wash.
He was born Jan. 2, 1917, on a farm near Mendon, to Frank W. and Edith (Carroll) Kinkley. In 1944, he married Emily Jane Robinson and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Jeffrey C. of Bernardsville, N.J., and Gregg J.; two daughters-in-law and two grandchildren.
He received a bachelor's degree in education from Miami University, Oxford, and a master's degree in education from the University of Illinois. He taught mathematics and science at Roosevelt Junior High School in Middletown before becoming an instructor in the Army Air Corps' technical school at Chanute Field, Rantoul, Ill. and later at Seymour Johnson Field in North Carolina. He was drafted in 1943 and spent three years in the Army Air Corps, primarily in North Carolina, Africa and Italy. He returned to the Illinois technical school following World War II. From 1946 until his retirement in 1972, he served in a series of staff positions including civilian administrator.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Sequim.

Sylvester Wilker
Sylvester D. Wilker, 83, 6372 Ohio 219, Celina, died at 1:15 a.m. today, May 21, 2002, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
He was born Sept. 5, 1918 , in Montezuma, to Joseph S. and Philomena (Woelk) Wilker. On April 23, 1941, he married Dorothy Studer and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons and their wives, Marvin and Verla and Roger and Judy, all of Celina; two daughters and their husbands, Jean and Don Adams and Barb and Mike Spriggs, all of Coldwater, and a daughter, Connie Heffner, Van Wert; a brother and his wife, Clete and Clara Ann of Coldwater; a sister and her husband, Mary Ann and Adolph Dorsten, Dayton, and two sisters, Edna Shunk, Dayton, and Ethel Klosterman, Montezuma; a brother-in-law, Paul Studer, Celina; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Studer, Dayton, and Wilma Wynk, Osgood; 14 grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter-in-law, Pam Wilker; a son-in-law, Skip Heffner; a brother, Ray; a sister, Loretta Conners; and two grandchildren.
He retired from New Idea in Coldwater. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Montezuma, and the Holy Name Society of the church.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. James Dugal officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. today and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
Contributions can be made to St. Peter Neurological Center or Community Hospital Home Nursing Care.

Andrew Hartings
Andrew F. Hartings Sr., 74, of Jasper, Ind., a native of the Maria Stein area, died May 6, 2002, at Jasper Memorial Hospital of Indiana.
He was born April 6, 1928, to Anthony and Margaret (Gast) Hartings. On Dec. 11, 1950, he married Cathy Brosmer and she died April 23, 1988.
Surviving are seven children, a brother and his wife, Don and Pearl of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister and her husband, Martha and Dick Sherman, New Bremen, and three sisters, Julia Heyne, Dayton, Viola Davis, Coldwater, and Rosalie Decker, St. Marys; 17 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
A daughter and a brother, Jerome, are deceased.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he had worked as a finish carpenter in the Jasper area.
Funeral Mass was May 10 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper.

Charles McKee III
Charles P. McKee III, 87, 416 W. South St., St. Marys, died at 3:25 p.m. May 23, 2002, at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys, where he had lived the past two years.
He was born Dec. 6, 1914, in St. Marys, to Charles and Pearl (Losher) McKee II. On June 7, 1943, he married Nellie Walther and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons and their wives, Jon and Jonelle of Wapakoneta and Michael and Pamela of Springfield, and a son, Charles J. of Walnut Creek, Calif.; three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
He was a 1932 graduate of Memorial High School, St. Marys, and a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Europe and Africa during World War II. He retired as a financial clerk at the St. Marys Post Office. He was a member of Bethlehem Christian Union Church, Wapakoneta, and American Legion Post 323, St. Marys.
Services are 3 p.m. Sunday at the church, the Revs. Tim Bruns and Carl Miller officiating. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, and 2-3 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Mark Barlage
Mark Louis Barlage, 42, Loy Road, Fort Loramie, died at 3:03 a.m. May 27, 2002, in the emergency room at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney. Death was due to an apparent heart attack.
He was born Feb. 4, 1960, in Sidney, to Allen and Odyne (Schulze) Barlage of Fort Loramie. On Nov. 27, 1994, he married Juli Braun, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Ryan and Logan, both at home; a brother and his wife, James and Elaine, and a brother, Jeffrey, all of Russia; two sisters and their husbands, Pauline and Curt Hedrick and Phyllis and Mike Turner, all of Fort Loramie, and a sister, Sharon of Troy.
A 1978 graduate of Russia High School, he studied diesel mechanics at Northwestern College for two years. He worked at the former Bomholt and Sons Farm Service in St. Rose for 20 years and at Apple Farm Service for one year. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Fort Loramie, and head coach of the St. Michael Catholic Youth Organization basketball program.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.
Contributions can be made to the Piqua Rehabilitation Center for Neurological Development.

Clyde Bissell
Clyde D. Bissell, 95, 3601 Ohio 703, Lot 43, Celina, died at 2:40 a.m. May 26, 2002, at the St. Marys Living Center.
He was born Nov. 28, 1906, in Darwin, to Charles A. and Luadda (Carr) Bissell. On May 27, 1927, he married Thelma Smith and she survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, Dale and Beverly of Celina; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Blaine; a brother, Emmett; and two sisters, Ora Coen and Lydia Roberts.
A retired potter, he had worked at Homer Laughlin Pottery Co. in Newell, W.V. He was a member of Mount Union United Brethren in Christ Church, Spencerville.
Services are 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Dale Bissell officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Spring Grove Cemetery, East Liverpool.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Leo Broerman
Leo Broerman, 79, 7436 Unger Road, Greenville, died at 11:15 a.m. May 27, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 9, 1922, in Fort Loramie, to Fred and Christine (Spoltman) Broerman. On Oct. 29, 1949, he married Clarina Everman and she died in September 1981. On Oct. 2, 1989, he married Marie Uhlenhake and she died in May 1996.
Surviving are three stepsons and their wives, Bob and Alice Uhlenhake, Jim and Diane Uhlenhake and Dave and Janet Uhlenhake, all of St. Henry; three daughters and their husbands, Carol and Irvan Weitzel, Celina, and Kathleen and Richard Grow and JoAnn and Jerry Hawkey, all of Greenville; and a stepdaughter and her husband, MaryAnn and Dale Heitkamp, St. Henry.
Also surviving are three brothers and their wives, Frank and Marlene of Tipp City, Alfred and Pat of New Bremen and Carl and Rosie of Fort Loramie; a sister and her husband, Dorothy and Joe Wuebker, Minster, and a sister, Vera Arling, Fort Loramie; 11 grandchildren, 11 stepgrandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
One brother and one sister are deceased.
He was a farmer and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church in St. Henry, Fraternal Order of Eagles NISCO Aerie 3025, Coldwater, and the Fort Recovery American Legion.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael Cemetery, Fort Loramie with military rites by the Fort Recovery Legion.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
Contributions can be made to Mercer/Darke County Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Brent Finke
Former St. Marys resident Brent Finke, 49, 9797 52nd Terrace North, St. Petersburg, Fla., died at 11:06 a.m. May 26, 2002, in the emergency room at St. Petersburg General Hospital. Death was due to an apparent heart attack he suffered at his residence.
He was born May 1, 1953, in St. Marys, to James and Connie (Whetstone) Finke. His mother survives in St. Marys. On July 25, 1981, he married Donna Swanson and she survives.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, James and Shannon of St. Petersburg and Sean and Linda of Troy; a daughter and her husband, Melinda and Jon Horn, St. Petersburg; a brother and his wife, Matthew and Toni of St. Marys; a sister and her husband, Stephanie and Scott Eshelman, Wapakoneta, and a sister, Gay of Lexington, Ky.
Also surviving are two brothers-in-law and their wives, Henry and Jennifer Swanson and Bob and Lori Swanson, all of St. Marys; a sister-in-law and her husband, Julie and Ed Woods, Englewood, Fla., and two sisters-in-law, Linda Harruff and Judy Luedeke, both of St. Marys; a maternal grandmother, Dorothy Whetstone, St. Marys; his mother-in-law, Barbara Swanson, St. Marys; and three grandchildren.
A 1974 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School, he attended Ohio State University. He was general manager of Florida Metal Stamping in Largo, Fla., and a member of Zion Lutheran Church, St. Marys.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Joachim Wilck officiating. Private burial services are planned. A memorial service will be held later in Florida.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Gladys Laux
Gladys Evelyn Laux, 90, 222 Brandon Ave., Celina, died at 10:35 a.m. May 26, 2002, at the Miller House, Celina.
She was born Sept. 8, 1911, in Celina, to William and Levina (Snavely) Martz. On June 19, 1928, she married Alphonse F. Laux and he died Feb. 20, 1995.
Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Gene Rohrbach, West Terre Haute, Ind., and Sharon and Gary Garman, Berea; a son-in-law and his wife, Ray and Fran Adams, Ottawa; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Betty Adams; a brother, Bill Martz; and five sisters, Ethel Howell, Edith Siler, Mary Brown, Florence Bader and Icy Fetters.
She had worked at Stokley-VanCamp and Otis Hospital. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Richard Riedel officiating. Burial will be at Mercer Memory Gardens.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina.
Contributions can be made to the Immaculate Conception Church Renovation Fund, Immaculate Conception Endowment Fund or Mercer County Hospice.
