Leonard H. Rosenbeck, 87, 515 S. Third St., Coldwater, died 1:38 p.m. June 4, 2001, at his residence.
He was born June 30, 1913, in Coldwater, to William and Rosa (Selhorst) Rosenbeck. On Jan. 24, 1942 he married Esther C. (Rumschlag) Rosenbeck, who survives in Coldwater.
Survivors are four sons and their wives, Gerald and Mary of Valrico, Fla., Thomas and Carol of St. Henry, Roger and Sue of Centerburg, and Donald and Mary of Jackson Center; three daughters and their husbands, Julia and Elmer Heitkamp, Fort Recovery, Jeanne and John Lozenski, Navarre, Fla., and Carol and Tony Roby, St. Marys; a daughter, Donna Varner, Xenia; a brother and his wife, Leo and Vicky of Coldwater; a brother-in-law, Marcellus Hausfeld, Dayton; two sisters-in-law, Rosemary of Coldwater and Estella of Dayton; 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, and a stepgreat-grandchild.
Deceased is a son-in-law, Steven Varner, brothers Albert, Ferd and Clarence; sisters Veronica Hildeford, Pauline Gerlach and Mildred Hausfeld; two stepgrandchildren, and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was retired from New Idea, Coldwater, and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater.
Funeral Mass is at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the church, the Rev. Ronald Wilker officiating. Burial is at St. Henry Cemetery.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.

Eva Irene Parker VonStein
Eva Irene Parker VonStein, 97, formerly of 601 Murray St., Wapakoneta, died at 6:10 p.m. May 22, 2001 at Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home.
She was born June 6, 1903 in Lima, to Amos and Martha Lenora (Walls) Holman. On June 20, 1947, she married Ivan VonStein, who died May 14, 1963.
Survivors are a brother, Dwight W. Holman, Denton, Texas; a stepson and his wife, Ivan and Trylbia VonStein Jr., Ada; a stepdaughter and her husband, Ruth and Herbert Burmouth, Jenera; a stepdaughter, Helen Keckler; 13 stepgrandchildren,
Deceased are four brothers, Wayne, Wade, Arthur and Gerald Holman; and a sister-in-law, Henrietta J. Holman.
She had been a cigar maker with DWG Cigars, Lima, and a clerk with Rink's Department Store, Lima. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta, and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.) Post 8445 Auxiliary, Wapakoneta, and the Wapakoneta Senior Citizens.
Services are 2:30 p.m. June 7, at Long & Folk Funeral Home, Wapakoneta, the Rev. Kieran P. Darcy officiating. Burial is at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Jenera.

Agnes Huelsman
Agnes Frances Huelsman, 85, 308 E. Main St., Coldwater, died at 2:35 p.m. June 3, 2001 at her daughter's residence in Lima.
She was born Jan. 17, 1916, in St. Rose, to Mathias and Mary (Otte) Hartings. On June 17, 1941, she married John H. Huelsman, who died in April 1983.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, Evelyn and Robert LaRotonda, Lima; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers and four sisters.
She was a retired seamstress at the former Sowar's Department Store, Coldwater. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, St. Anns Rosary Alter Sodality, and was a past president of St. Cecilia Knights of St. John Auxiliary.
Funeral Mass was 10:30 a.m. today at the church, the Rev. Ronald Wilker officiating. Burial is at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
Calling was 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 am. today at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.

Viola Long
Viola C. Long, 78, Lima, died at 9:45 a.m. June 5, 2001 at her residence.
She was born Dec. 26, 1922, in Cincinnati, to John and Clara (Hatting) Trautner. On Nov. 6, 1943, she married Russel M. Long, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons and their wives, Mark and Belinda of Lima and Michael and Karen of Maria Stein; three daughters and their husbands, Madain and John Jacobs, Dayton, Carol and Jeff Ketcham, Harrod, and Diane and Scott Meyer, Holgate; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She worked at J.C. Penneys and was retired from Lima City Schools. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, a former charter member of the church, Lima Central Catholic High School Band Boosters and Home and School Associations.
Funeral Mass is 2 p.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. J. Norbert Howe officiating. Burial is at Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, with a rosary service at 7 p.m.

Maria Neargarder
Maria I. Neargarder, 73, 14649 Koenig Road, St. Marys, died at 9:20 p.m. June 5, 2001, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born July 28, 1927, in Trieste, Italy, to Vincenso and Anna (Coronica) Medos. On Oct. 8, 1953, she married Clarence Neargarder, who died May 6, 1984.
Survivors are a son and his wife, Ed and Diane of St. Marys, and a son, Ron of St. Marys; a daughter and her husband, Pam and Sam Faller, Celina; a sister, Palmira Hernandez, Coracas, Venezuela; and three grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Enzo Medos.
She was president of Celina Music Company. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, and a former member of the St. Marys Women's Garden Club.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. David Heinl officiating. Burial is at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.

Monte Billger
Monte L. Billger, 74, 212 N. LeBlond St., Celina, died at 12:30 a.m. June 8, 2001, at his residence.
He was born April 16, 1927, in Wapakoneta, to Harry and Lucille (Weber) Billger. On Sept. 24, 1949, he married June Yaney, who survives.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, Gary and Carol of Celina; a brother and his wife, Lee and Ruth of Celina; a sister, Linda Widman, Apache Junction, Ariz.; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased is an infant daughter, Marilyn Jean, and a brother, Carlyle.
He was a retired inspector for the former New Idea, Coldwater, and a retired antique metal refinisher. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Celina.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Steve Clayton officiating. Burial is at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Bessie Royse
Bessie M. Royse, 84, Greenfield, died at 10:29 p.m. June 6, 2001, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 24, 1916, in Lyndon, to Martin and Minnie (Steinmetz) Steiner. She married Albert Royse, who died April 25, 1999.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, Sue and Bill Holcomb, Florence, Ky.; two daughters, Patricia of Celina, and Charlotte Olah, Mentor; a son and his wife, Jerry and Cindy of Albany, and a son, Michael of Greenfield; a sister, Helen Cook, Washington Court House; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Deceased is a brother, Harold Steiner.
She was a homemaker and founding member of the Bits-N-Pieces Quilt Club. She was a member of Good Shepherd Church, Greenfield, and a 1935 graduate of McClain High School.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday, at the church, the Rev. Jim Blaine officiating. Burial is at Greenfield Cemetery.
Calling is 5-9 p.m. Friday at Murray-Fettro Funeral Home, Greenfield.

Lois Backs
Lois J. Backs, 62, 1800 Westlea Drive, Marion, Ind., died of cancer at 2:25 a.m. June 10, 2001, at her residence. She was born May 24, 1939, in St. Henry, to Alphonse and Cordula Post. On Jan. 3, 1959, she married Richard A. Backs, who survives.
Other survivors are three sons and their wives, Ronnie and Lisa of Conyers, Ga., Randy and Renee of Westfield, Ind., and Rick and Karen of Marion, Ind.; two daughters and their husbands, Brenda and Alan McKay, Houston, Texas, and Bonnie and Mark Cox, New Palestine, Ind.; two brothers, James C. Post, Sevierville, Tenn., and Ken Post, Waynesfield; and a sister and her husband, Donna and Morris Pinder, Orlando, Fla.; and 12 grandchildren.
She was worked at Justice Middle School for 24 years, and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Marion, Ind., where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society.
Funeral Mass is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Richard Weisenberger officiating. Burial is at Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Ind. Rosary will be said Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. at Raven Funeral Home, Marion, Ind.
Calling is from 3-5 and 7-10 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
