Joan Taylor
Joan Taylor, 71, 1106 Motz St., St. Marys, died Dec. 30, 2000 at Lincoln Regional Medical Center, Fayettville, Tenn.
She was born Jan. 2, 1929, in Union County, to William and Lois (Edwards) Simpson. On Sept. 25, 1949, she married Thomas John Taylor, who died Oct. 17, 1996.
Survivors are a son, Thomas II of St. Marys; a daughter and her husband, Janie and Jim Parker, Hazel Green, Ala.; and five grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Edgar Simpson.
She was a homemaker and member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star 119 where she was a Past Worthy Matron, both of St. Marys. She was a graduate of West High School in Columbus.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. David Woodyard officiating. Burial is at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.

Freda Fark
Freda Fark, 85, 410 W. Second St., New Bremen, died at 10:25 a.m. Jan. 1, 2001 at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys.
She was born Feb. 11, 1915, in Kossuth, to Harry and Edna (McPheron) Binkley. On Aug. 14, 1940, she married Donald Fark, who died July 5, 1999.
Survivors include a sister-in-law and her husband, Charleen and Robert Hunter, St. Marys, and two sisters-in-law, Eileen Binkley, Wapakoneta, and Cleora Forwerck, New Bremen; and a brother-in-law, Lewis Speckman, Wapakoneta.
Deceased are two sisters, Opal Speckman and Albertine Schamp, and a brother, Merlin Binkley.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Bremen.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Gilberg Funeral Home, New Bremen, the Rev. Steven Wills officiating. Burial is at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Maurice Haver
Maurice I. Haver, 91, died at 4:11 p.m. Jan. 2, 2001 at Shane Hill, Rockford.
He was born Feb. 18, 1909, in Lima, to Elmer and Ethel (Smale) Haver. On Aug. 17, 1940, he married Vivian Arnold, who died Nov. 16, 1985.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, Mary Lou and James Brown, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a son and his wife, Robert and Judy of Rockford; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Harry, and a sister, Mildred Brown.
He was a former employee of Avco-New Idea Farm Equipment and was a construction worker. He attended Grace United Methodist Church, Rockford.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. George Hubbell officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.

James Hoyng
James P. Hoyng, 66, 4260 Kuhn Road, Celina, died at 10:39 a.m. Jan. 2, 2001 at Dayton Heart Hospital.
He was born June 17, 1934, in Celina, to LaMont and Agnes (Losche) Hoyng. On May 4, 1963, he married Betty Marker, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons and their wives, Pat and Bev of Dublin, and Doug and Jenny of Coldwater; two daughters and their husbands, Beth and Kyle Schritz, Coldwater, and Monica and Duane Forsthoff, Dayton, and a daughter, Beck of Orlando, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
He was owner of J.F. Hoyng Hardware in Coldwater, and served as special police in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and its Holy Name society, Knights of Columbus Council 1991, Kiwanis, American Legion Post 470, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5135, all of Coldwater.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Bill Hoyng officiating. Burial is at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
Lester Peltier
Lester J. Peltier, 80, 271 N. Lincoln St., Minster, died at 11:45 a.m. Jan. 2, 2001 at his residence.
He was born June 27, 1920, in Russia, to Raymond and Zelma (Paulus) Peltier. On June 10, 1947, he married Rogene Kalhoff, who died April 27, 1988.
Survivors are a son and his wife, Dr. Michael and Marlene of Sidney; a daughter and her husband, Vicki and James Grilliot, Houston; a brother and his wife, Robert and Delores of Russia; three sisters and their husbands, Marie and George Raterman, Sidney, Virginia and Alvin Rosengarten, Fort Loramie, and Ruth and Robert Millard, Cincinnati, and two sisters, Wilma Schlater, Russia, and Norma Schlater, Fort Loramie; and four grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Leroy, and a granddaughter.
He was co-owner of Peltier Garage in Russia, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the African and European Theatres. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 1391, all of Minster.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Dorothy Simons
Former Celina resident Dorothy Barbara Kirk Simons, 76, of Marysville, died Jan. 1, 2001 at Milcrest Nursing Center, Marysville.
She was born July 26, 1924, in Brewer, Maine, to Manley G. and Catherine E. (Irving) Kirk. On April 17, 1945, she married William H. Simons, who survives.
Other survivors are a daughter and her husband, Lura K. and William J. Hayes, Marysville, and a daughter, Suzanne D. "Susie" Chrispin Mioduszewski, Ann Arbor, Mich.; a son, William K. "Bill" of Hilliard; a sister and her husband, Catherine and Louis Bligh, Brewer, Maine; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Smith, Milford Center, Harriet Simons, Lancaster, and Betty Simons, Norwalk; a brother-in-law, Roger Ervin, Dayton; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was the former Mercer County Mental Retardation Superintendent/Administrator and was credited for the expansion of the MRDD program, which included Cheryl Ann School. She was formerly employed as an office worker at Stokely Van Camp, Milford Center, was business manager for the Western Ohio Educational Foundation, and was a retired bursar of Wright State University-Lake Campus. She was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving as sergeant, and was a Marine recruiter in Columbus. She served as clerk for the Village of Milford Center and as two-term school board member for Celina public schools. She was a member of Marysville First United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women, and was a former member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Celina, and was active in missions of the Lima district and the United Methodist West Ohio Conference. She received a bachelor's and master's degrees from Wright State University, and was a 1941 graduate of Brewer High School in Maine.
Services with military funeral honors are 11 a.m. Friday at Underwood Funeral Home, Marysville, the Rev. Richard Teller officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Celina, the Revs. Robert Matheny and J. Franklin Luchsinger officiating.
Contributions can be made to Alzheimer Association of Central Ohio "Day Out" Club or the Ohio Special Olympics.
Margie Hays
Margie Hays, 69, died at 6:15 a.m. Jan. 3, 2001 at her residence at 337 Defiance St., St. Marys.
She was born Aug. 18, 1931, in Wapakoneta, to Orie and Corrine (Haywood) Rupert. On Sept. 10, 1949, she married Forrest Hays, who survives.
Other survivors are four sons and their wives, Steve and Jennifer, and Gary and Karen, all of Celina, Jeffrey and Teresa of St. Marys, and Mark and Robin of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a sister, Charlene Jones, Columbus; and nine grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Donald and Roger Rupert.
She was a homemaker and a member of Zion Lutheran Church, St. Marys.
