Gene Mills
Gene R. Mills, 64, 348 Reed Ave., Versailles, died at 1:10 a.m. June 21, 2001, at Versailles Health Care Center.
He was born Sept. 8, 1936, in Versailles, to Norman and Dorothy (Wagaman) Mills. On May 11, 1963, he married Marcella Mescher, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons and their wives, Jeffrey and Teresa of Russia and Otto Jay and Amy of North Star; three sons, James, Jerome and Joseph, all of Versailles; a daughter and her husband, Angie and Dennis Bruns, Versailles; a sister and her husband, Deborah and Larry Gartley, Powell; and six grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Johnny Mills.
He was a truck driver at Weaver Brothers, Versailles, and a member of Versailles Eagles Lodge.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.

David Whitehead
David K. Whitehead, 54, Broadway Street, Fort Recovery, died of natural causes at 1:50 a.m. June 21, 2001 in the Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
He was born Aug. 27, 1946, in Dayton, to Harold and Vivian (Aikman) Whitehead.
Survivors are two daughters and their husbands, Lynn and Larry Bock, Coldwater and Dawn and Jerrit Morgan, Celina; a daughter, Jodi Whitehead, Coldwater; a brother, Harold Whitehead, Va.; and nine grandchildren.
He was a truck driver for Fort Recovery Industries and a member of the Fort Recovery Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.).
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater, the Rev. Jon Kraner officiating. Burial is at Burdge Cemetery, Montezuma.
Calling is 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

David George
Former Coldwater resident David H. George, 64, 3575 NE Catawba Road, Port Clinton, died in the early morning on June 22, 2001 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton.
He was born July 20, 1936 to Noah and Ruth (Williams) George in Rockford. On Dec. 31, 1955, he married Eileen (Casey) George who survives in Port Clinton.
Other survivors include two sons and their wives, Steve and Mary of Clayton and Mike and Joyce of Grove City; three daughters and their husbands, Kathy and Roger Rindler, St. Henry, Kelly and Shaun Dugan, Hollywood, Md., and Kim and Dan Braun, Celina; one sister, Doris Sites, Celina; and 13 grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Arthur.
He was retired from being the owner/operator of Olding, Gebele and George Insurance Agency, Colwater. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a graduate of Rockford High School class of 1954. He was past president of Coldwater Kiwanis and Coldwater Jaycees and a former member of the Coldwater Veterans of Foreign Wars, Kiwanis of Mount Dora, Fla., Society Bank board of directors, Elks Lodge 1578, Eustis, Fla., Knights of Columbus 8120, Eustis, and Our Lady of Lakes Catholic Church, Eustis. He was a member of the Port Clinton Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, the Rev. Ronald Wilker officiating. Coldwater V.F.W. will provide military services. Burial is at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Monday and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.

Tonya Kahlig
Tonya R. Kahlig, 29, 650 Riffle Ave., Greenville, died of natural causes at 11:17 p.m. June 21, 2001 at Wayne Hospital, Greenville.
She was born Jan. 19, 1972 in Greenville to Thelma Marceil (Wittaker) Hecht, who survives.
Other survivors are her adoptive parents, Edward and Delores, of Coldwater; a brother and his wife, Todd A. and Jackie Hecht, Greenville; a stepbrother and his wife, Fred and Renee, Coldwater; a half-sister, Deanna Young, Greenville; and a stepsister and her husband, Donna and Keith Harvey, Springboro.
Deceased are two brothers, Dennis and Christopher.
She was employed at Meijer Store, Troy, and was a graduate of Coldwater High School class of 1990. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, Greenville, the Greenville Eagles Auxillary and the Greenville Moose Lodge. She was active in politics and ran for the 84th District Ohio House of Representatives seat in March 2000. She also was a member of the Downtown Greenville Inc., design committee.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, the Rev. Tom Mannebach officiating. Burial is at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.

Billy Norris
Billy E. "Doc" Norris, 71, 7282 Prairie Brook Drive, died at noon June 21, 2001 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton.
He was born Jan. 12, 1930 in Fort Recovery to Alfred J. and Era L. (Matthews) Norris.
On Aug. 11, 1950, he married Janeane Bosworth, who survives.
Other survivors are a daughter and her husband, Deborah and Darrel Middleton, Indianapolis, Ind.; a son, Randal of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Carmel of Celina; three brothers and their wives, James and Jewel, of Fort Wayne, Ind., Sam and Esther, of Cabool, Mo., and Richard and Jean, of Clearwater, Fla.; two sisters and their husbands, Joan and Howard Hartley, Columbus, and Shirley and James Blocker, Ossian, Ind.; a sister-in-law and her husband, Alice and John VanWagner, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased are one brother and one sister.
He was a retired teacher from Fort Recovery High School, Portland Junior High School, Muncie Central High School, Ball State University and Wright State University-Lake Campus. He was a graduate of Portland High School and Ball State University. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, spent time as a park ranger at Grand Canyon National Park, founded the Terra Laboratory, Montezuma, and was a member of the Montezuma United Methodist Church.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Jon Kraner officiating.

Irene Clune
Irene M. Clune, 69, 79 W. Main St., Chickasaw, died at 6:01 p.m. June 23, 2001, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
She was born Jan. 30, 1932, in Philothea, to George and Loretta (Heitman) Stammen. On July 24, 1965, she married Luke Clune, who survives.
Other survivors are a daughter and her husband, Barbara and Dan Lockwood, Celina; three brothers, Alvin Stammen, Paul Stammen, and Roman Stammen, all of Philothea; three sisters, Hilda Mercuri, Lucy Miller, and Blanche Morell, all of Dayton; and two grandchildren.
Deceased are two half-brothers.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Precious Blood Church, Chickasaw. She belonged to the Ladies Rosary Alter Sodality of the church.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the church, the Rev. John Bensman officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.

Robert Cotterman
Robert F. Cotterman, 38, 752 Columbia St., St. Marys, died June 22, 2001 at his residence, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He was born Nov. 8, 1962, in St. Marys, to Ronnie and Kathy (Paul) Cotterman, who survive in Carrollton, Ky. He married Diane Williams, who also survives.
Other survivors are a daughter and her husband, Tara and Jessie Patterson, a son, Robert, of the residence; and two daughters, Amy and Katie, of the residence; a brother and his wife, Mark and Julie of Celina; a brother, Ronnie Jr. of LaGrange, Ky.; a sister and her husband, Darlene and Ryan O'Harra, Carrollton, Ky.; and three grandsons.
He was a former employee at Gilardi Foods, Sidney, and a 1982 graudate of St. Mays Memorial High School.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Joachim Wilck officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.

Vernon Crouse
Vernon L. Crouse, 68, 738 E. Spring St., St. Marys, formerly of Pearl Street, Spencerville, died 4:30 a.m. June 24, 2001, at his residence.
He was born April 18, 1933, in Uniopolis, the son of Walter and Vernetta (Cowan) Crouse. On June 5, 1953, he married Patricia Clay. They were later divorced. She survives in Speedwell Tenn.
Other survivors are one son and his wife Michael and Melinda of Elida, and a son Steve of Spencerville; a sister and her husband, Novelda and Kenneth King, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; step -brother, Sam Howell, Wellston, companion, Dorothy Goodwin of the residence; and two grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons, Terry and Greg, and a sister, Donna Jean.
He was a former employee at Neon Sign Company, Lima, and also the Sheller Globe Company, Lima. He later worked at United Service Station, St. Marys, and the Bonded Service Station, Wapakoneta. He was a member of the Northwestern Ohio Field and Stream Club and a graduate of Cridersville High School.
Services are 1:30 p.m. June 27, at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. David Howell officiating. Burial is at Fairmont Cemetery, Uniopolis.

Leta Harner
Leta Marie Harner, 92, formerly of Fairfax Road, died June 22, 2001, at Lake Park.
She was born Dec. 31, 1908, near Celina, to John S. and Nellie (Custer) Duncan. On Jan. 21, 1929, she married Paul M. Harner, who preceded her in death.
Survivors are two daughters and their husbands, Gloria and Roy Brighton, Toledo, and Diane and Paul Robarge, Sylvania; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and two step- grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters, Lillian Dues and Gladys Fast, three half-brothers and a half-sister.
She worked as an inspector at Willys Overland on airplane parts during World War II. She was a member of Upton United Methodist Church.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Walker Funeral Home, Toledo.

Ralph Reichert
Ralph A. Reichert, 74, 6494 Huwer Road, Cassella, died at 4:54 p.m. June 23, 2001, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born May 14, 1927, in Cassella, to Edward and Clara (Langenkamp) Reichert. On May 29, 1948, he married Alfrieda Everman, who survives.
Other survivors are four sons and their wives, Dan and Sandy of Celina, Ralph Jr. and Michelle of Vian, Okla., Larry and Lynne of Cassella and Ron and Julie of Osgood; a son, Ed of Yorkshire; five daughters and their husbands, Kathryn and William Howard, St. Henry, Donna and Cy Brunswick, Fort Recovery, Irene and Ralph Roessner, Fort Recovery, Karen and Ed Rauh, New Weston and Evelyn and Steve Grillot, St. Henry; a daughter, Judy Johnson, Sidney; a brother and his wife, John and Lee, Fort Recovery; a sister and her husband, Mary and Richard Everman, Cranberry Prairie; 33 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, Ernie; two infant sons; a son-in-law, Willie Johnson; a brother, and two grandchildren.
He was a retired farmer, and a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Cassella. He also belonged to the Men's Society of the church, the Cassella CK of A, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Coldwater, Knight of St. John, Maria Stein, Community 313. He was a Marion Township Trustee for 24 years, a former 4-H advisor, and a former member of the hospital board of Governors at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Frederick Ryder officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
