Oscar Rose
Oscar M. Rose, 86, 3295 County Road 716A, Celina, died at 9:35 a.m. June 2, 2002, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born April 3, 1916, in St. Sebastian, to John and Rosa (Will) Rose. On June 29, 1940, he married Ruth M. Dabbelt and she died Oct. 21, 1995.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Thomas and Phyllis of New Bremen and Gary and Joyce of Celina; five daughters and their husbands, Joanne and Louis Bohman, Osgood, Virginia and Alvin Dues, Coldwater, Barbara and Robert Ruhenkamp, Fort Loramie, Elaine and Gary Thobe and Linda and Mark Homan, all of Maria Stein; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Martin and Ruth Dabbelt, New Bremen, and Luke and Margie Dabbelt, Wapakoneta; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Wilker and Margie Dabbelt, both of Celina; 26 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, six sisters and two great-grandchildren.
He was a retired farmer and a former member of the Marion Local School Building Committee. He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society of the church and the Knights of St. John, Maria Stein. He had been a member of the church choir for more than 50 years.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. John Bensman officiating. Burial will be at St. Sebastian Cemetery.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
Lester Vondenhuevel
Lester F. Vondenhuevel, 72, 302 W. Silver St., Wapakoneta, formerly of New Bremen, died at 5:30 a.m. June 2, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 11, 1930, in Minster, to George Sr. and Anna (Magato) Vondenhuevel. On Sept. 1, 1951, he married Evelyn Kanorr and she died Jan. 21, 1997. On September 23, 1997, he married Alvaretta (Lee) Kanorr, who survives.
Surviving are a daughter, Susan Mast, Portland, Ind.; three stepsons, Rick Kanorr, Wapakoneta, Robert Kanorr, Harrod, and Kevin Kanorr, Pensacola, Fla.; four stepdaughters, Debra Hook, Kathy Gallmore, Beverly Comer and Angela Kanorr, all of Wapakoneta; three brothers and their wives, Walter and Joan and George Jr. and Sandra, all of New Bremen, and Vernon and Joan of Minster; two sisters and their husbands, Eilleen and Larry Byerly, Celina, and Betty and Robert Hague, Wapakoneta; a granddaughter, eight stepgrandchildren and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are two stepsons, Keith and Darrin Kanorr.
He was a semi-retired truck driver for Quality Ready Mix, St. Marys. He was a member of Faith Alliance Church and the Senior Citizens, both of New Bremen, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 691, Wapakoneta, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5713, Celina.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Dean Greenwood officiating. Burial will be at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, and 12:30-1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Jeanette Wallick
Jeanette Wallick, 74, 848 State St., Van Wert, died at 7:56 p.m. June 1, 2002, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born Sept. 25, 1927, in Ohio City, to Ernest Wayne and Loma Susan (Mauer) Kelly. On Sept. 8, 1951, she married Lewis Richard Wallick and he died Sept. 10, 1994.
Surviving are a sister, Dorothy Workman, Lima, and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.
A brother, Mack Wayne Kelly, and a sister, Donna Mosier, are deceased.
She worked as a beautician in Ohio City for more than 30 years and later served as account manager for Dr. Diller in Van Wert for eight years. A 1945 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School and beautician school, she was a member of Ohio City Church of God, where she had directed the adult and children's choir.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Matt Braun officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.
Calling is 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Darst Davis
Darst E. Davis, 61, 829 Murlin Ave., Celina, died June 1, 2002, at his residence. Death was due to natural causes.
He was born Dec. 31, 1940, in Rockford, to Lawrence and Lora Faye (Stetler) Davis.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Dino and Julia of West Chester; a daughter, Dana Davis Courtney, Atlanta, Ga.; a sister and her husband, Janice and Merle Black, and a sister, Brenda Swain, all of Celina; and four grandchildren.
He retired as a custodian from Celina West Elementary School after 23 years of service. He served in the United States Air Force and was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1291, Loyal Order of Moose Chapter 1473, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5713, American Legion Post 210 and AmVets, all of Celina.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Mark Wakeland officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens.

Thomas Gardner
Thomas A. Gardner, 68, 1014 Rosalie Drive, Van Wert, died at 4:49 p.m. June 3, 2002, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born May 23, 1934, in Franklin County, to Arnold and Treca Lenore (Carter) Gardner. On April 28, 2001, he married Karen (Miller) Girod and she survives.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Martin and Karen of Fort Wayne, and a son, Shawn of Tallahassee, Fla.; a daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Mark Hodgson, Monticello, Ill.; a stepson, Tom Lloyd, Zanesville, Ind.; three stepdaughters and their husbands, Brenda and Robert Tinkham, Wren, Melody and Mike Fields, Newark, and Shelly and Dean Foster, Valdosta, Ga.; two sisters and their husbands, Mary and Richard James, Fredericktown, and Lynne and Fred Grimm, Florida; six grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He retired as a truck driver from ABF in Dayton. He attended Trinity Friends Church, Van Wert, and was a member of the St. Marys Boat Club at Grand Lake St. Marys.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Gerald Baker officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.

Karen Husted
Karen L. Husted, 50, 13356 Ohio 49, North, New Weston, died June 3, 2002, at Hospice of Dayton. Death was due to natural causes.
She was born May 27, 1952, in Darke County, to Harry and Bernadine (Rockwood) Cline. On Oct. 28, 1968, she married James N. Husted and he died in 1998.
Surviving are two sons, Michael N. of New Weston and James K. of Fort Recovery; two brothers and their wives, Marvin and Eleanor Cline of Streetsboro and Forest and Shawaunna of Greenville; four sisters and their husbands, JoAnne and Charles Foster and Barbara and Kenneth Coby, all of New Weston, Sandra and James Hurt, Coldwater; and Debra and Ernie Lee, Greenville; and six grandchildren.
She had been employed at Neff Lettering in Greenville for 12 years.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Oliver Funeral Home, Greenville, the Rev. Mike Burns officiating. Burial will follow at Old Teegarden Cemetery, Ansonia.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Illa Klosterman
Illa June Klosterman, 73, 1410 Canterbury Drive, Celina, died at 10:35 a.m. June 3, 2002, at her residence.
She was born June 25, 1928, in Dayton, to Ferdinand and Fern (Johnson) Hocfbaum. On Jan. 28, 1950, she married Wiro Eugene Klosterman and he survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, Daniel and Luwanna of Montezuma, and four sons, Michael, David, Patrick and Jon, all of Celina; four daughters and their husbands, Kathie and Richard Stachler and Cynthia and Phillip Schlotterer, all of Celina, Gail and Dale Rutschilling, Coldwater, and Lisa and David Graham, Xenia, and a daughter, Deborah of Burlington, Wash.; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Gerald and Robert Hocfbaum, and a granddaughter are deceased.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Montezuma Fire Department. She formerly belonged to Ducks Unlimited for 25 years.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Montezuma, the Rev. Richard Riedel officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.

John Moore
John Francis Moore, 88, Ohio 219, Coldwater, died at 4:11 p.m. June 2, 2002, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born April 14, 1914, in Coldwater, to William and Mary Estella (Granger) Moore. In November 1957, he married Florence Brown and she survives.
Also surviving are a stepson, Clarence Robert Brown, Okechobee, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Betty E. Haynes, Bradenton, Fla.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Rolland and Walter Moore, and two sisters, Mable Jameson and Nellie Wiley.
He retired from New Idea, Coldwater, in 1979 after working 23 years as a security guard and also retired from farming. He was a life member of the Erastus United Methodist Church.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater, the Rev. Robert Dungan officiating. Burial will be at Macedon Cemetery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Myrtle Buechner
Myrtle C. Buechner, 99, of Willshire, died at 6:07 a.m. June 4, 2002, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born Dec. 7, 1902, in Mercer County, to Joseph Mathias and Clara (Stetler) Winkler. In September 1934, she married Laurence E. Buechner and he died Feb. 18, 1970.
Nieces and nephews survive.
Deceased are a brother and his wife, Vernon and Leah Winkler, and a sister, Merl Bain.
She worked at B & W Market, which her family owned and operated for years in Rockford. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Schumm.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Robert Becker officiating. Burial will be at Willshire Cemetery.

Mark Eilerman
Mark B. Eilerman Sr., 82, Slavik Road, Coldwater, died the afternoon of June 4, 2002, at Gardens at St. Henry.
He was born Oct. 24, 1919, in Cassella, to Jacob and Anna (Tumbusch) Eilerman. On Oct. 24, 1938, he married Marcella Linneman and she died April 14, 2001.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, Mark Jr. and Lois of Arcanum, Robert and Sue of Montezuma, David and Jill and Charles and Diane, all of Coldwater; three daughters and their husbands, Pamela and Mike Yohey, Montezuma, Mary and Michael Eilerman-Messer, La-fayette, Calif., and Deborah and Mark Rauh, Fort Recovery, and a daughter, Patricia Rish, Kettering; a daughter-in-law, Sally Eilerman, Lima; a brother-in-law and his wife, Lewis and Stella Linneman, Bryan; a sister-in-law, Bernice Reichert, Montezuma; 29 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Michael; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was a truck driver and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater.
