John Schmidt
John J. Schmidt, 92, formerly of the Anna area, died June 1, 2003, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.
He was born April 13, 1911, in Fort Loramie, to William and Frances Meiners Schmidt. On June 18, 1935, he married Clementine H. Boeke who died Aug. 25, 1984.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth of Sidney and Gerald of Botkins; two daughters, Janet Hoying, Anna, and Karen (Ralph) Balster, Mesa, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, four sisters and two grandsons.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, McCartyville.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Patrick Welsh officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Cromes Funeral Home, Sidney.

Clarence Craft
Clarence C. Craft, 91, of Fort McCoy and Maitland, Fla., and formerly of the Spencerville area, died at 12:01 a.m. June 29, 2001, in the Brighton Gardens Assisted Living Center in Orlando, Fla.
He was born Nov. 3, 1909 in Allen County to Arthur N. and Bessie Roberts Lehman Craft. On March 13, 1929, he married Edna M. Crider, who survives in Orlando.
Also surviving are three daughters and their husbands, Martha and Jack Reed, Lima, Mary Jane and Eugene Balthaser, Jackson and Judith and Jesse Zellers, Orlando; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, David, two brothers, Walter and Bernard, and a sister, Bernice Kikly.
He was a farmer, worked at the Lima Westinghouse Corp. during World War II and retired from the Unisil Company, Van Wert. He was a member of the Eureka First Baptist Church, Eureka, Fla., and formerly a member of the Olive Chapel Church, Converse, and the Monticello United Brethren in Christ Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. H. Marc Nelson officiating. Burial is at Wright Cemetery, near Converse.
Calling is from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

William Doseck
William A. "Bill" Doseck, 76, of rural Spencerville, died at 6:55 p.m. June 29, 2001, at his home.
He was born March 12, 1925, in Lima, a son of Arthur F. and Sophia Mae (Coon) Doseck. On April 5, 1947, he married Donna Jean Becker, who survives.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, Ronald and Sharon of Lima; a daughter and her husband, Marla and Gary Puthoff, Spencerville; a sister-in-law, Faye Doseck, Lima; two grandchildren, a great grandchild, five stepgrandchildren, and two step greatgrandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Robert F. and Herman J.
He owned the Bill Doseck Plumbing Company since 1957. He was a U.S. Navy veteran during World War II, and later worked in the Lima Tank Depot.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. Stephen Merold officiating. Burial is at the New Salem Cemetery, south of Monticello.
Calling is from 1 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or to the St. Rita's Hospice.

Mildred Mathewson
Mildred LaVern Mathewson, 76, of Rockford, died at 9:15 a.m. June 25, 2001, at her residence.
She was born June 27, 1924, in Alger, to Lorenzo Hamilton and Ruth Ann (Black) Lay. On Jan. 18, 1947, she married Carl William Mathewson, who died on Sept. 16, 1978.
Survivors are two sons and their wives, Terry and Sandy of Rockford, and Tom and Shirley of Fort Recovery; three daughters and their husbands, Karen and Jim Schumm, Rockford, Rosalie and Dick Moeller, Rockford, and Tonya and Dave Schmehl, Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters, Connie Staley, Willshire and Teresa Glass, Celina; a brother, Mark Lay, Mt. Victory; a sister, Donna Hayes, Forrest; a sister-in-law, Freda Lay; 24 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Bob and Paul Lay, and a sister, Alice Hankins.
She was retired from Huffy's Bicycle. She was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Rockford, the church's Woman's Sodality, and the Senior Citizens of Celina.
Funeral Mass was at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, the Revs. Dean Mathewson and Thomas Brenberger officiated. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Contributions can be made to Darke/Mercer County Hospice.

Marie Mohlman
Marie Catherine Mohlman, 88, formerly of St. Henry, died at 1:29 p.m. July 1, 2001, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Sept. 6, 1912, in St. Henry, to Henry and Anna (Brackmann) Langenkamp. On April 22, 1936, she married Frank G. Mohlman, who died in 1952.
Survivors are two sons and their wives, Henry and Mary Lou of Dayton, and Frank and Ginny of Coldwater; two daughters and their husbands, Marie and Elmer Eyink, Coldwater and Loretta and Del Albright, Union; a brother and his wife, Richard and Verena of St. Henry; two brothers, Arnold of Gassaway, W.V. and August of Tupelo, Miss.; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a daughter-in-law, Norma , four sisters, Sister Anastasia, Sister Norberta, and Anna Miller, and Loretta in infancy, four brothers, Ralph, Norbert, Brother Berchmans, and John in infancy, and a grandchild.
She was a nurses aide in the maternity department at Community Hospital, Coldwater, a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, and a member of St. Ann's Sodality of the church.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the church, the Revs. Arnold Langenkamp and August Langenkamp officiating. Burial is at St. Henry Cemetery.
Calling is from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10:15 a.m. Wednesday, at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.

Sam Ruvoldt
Sam Ruvoldt, 72, 1302 E. Spring St., St. Marys, died at 2:48 p.m. June 30, 2001, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born March 25, 1929, in Wapakoneta, a son of Raymond and Lulu (Howell) Ruvoldt. He was formerly married to Dorothy Houser, who survives in St. Marys.
Other survivors are three sons and their wives, Jeff and Stephanie of St. Marys, Doug and Janet of St. Marys and Randy and Pattie of Kenton; a brother, Jim of St. Marys; a sister, Marlene Shelby, St. Marys; and eight grandchildren.
He was retired from the former Colonial Oil Station in St. Marys. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge Aerie #767, and a social member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289, both of St. Marys.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Charles Richtmyer officiating. Burial is at Resthaven Memory Gardens, near Moulton.
Calling is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Thelma Gehron
Thelma Gehron, 94, Middletown, died July 1, 2001, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 10, 1906, in Black Creek Township, Mercer County, to James and Rosetta (Slusser) Gause. On March 31, 1929, she married Lewis J. Gehron, who preceded her in death.
Survivors are two daughters and thier husbands, Marcella and Ken Shawley, Defiance and Janice and Roland Armstrong, Medway; a brother, Lloyd Gause, Rockford; a sister, Eulah Shank, Maples, Ind.; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, Arnold James; a daughter, Alvera Fern; a grandson, Fred Shawley; and twelve brothers and sisters.
She was a homemaker.
Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Dr. Roger Braun officiating. Burial is at East Bethel Cemetery.
Calling is from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Beulah Knapke
Beulah Rose Knapke, 83, 7927 Brockman Road, Chickasaw, died at 6 a.m. July 2, 2001, at her residence.
She was born July 8, 1917, in Chickasaw, to August and Mathilda (Rentz) Niekamp. On Oct. 24, 1936, she married Herbert J. Knapke, who died June 1, 1996.
Survivors are a son, Donald of Dayton; two daughters and their husbands, Mary Helen and Orval Homan, Minster and Wilma and Jack Broering, Midland, Mich.; a daughter, Lois Ann Knapke, Chickasaw; two sisters and their husbands, Charlotte and Shorty Borchers, Minster and Grace and Morris Niekamp, Minster; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a daughter-in- law, Marjorie Knapke and a brother, Homer.
She was a housewife, a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, Chickasaw, and belonged to the Ladies Sodality of the church.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the church, the Rev. Kenneth Pleiman officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

Marie Mohlman
Marie Catherine Mohlman, 88, formerly of St. Henry, died at 1:29 p.m. July 1, 2001, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home.

John O. Thompson, 88, Ashland, Ky., died July 2, 2001, at Boyd Co. Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Sept. 19, 1912, in Cridersville, to Tolley and Bertha (Gaberdiel) Thompson. He married Helen Snyder, who died in 1993.
Survivors are a son, Dr. Richard E. of Irontown; two daughters and their husbands, Lois and Ed Shearer, Arlington, Ruth Ann and Jim Patterson, Columbus; a brother, Gerald of Spencerville; a sister, Wanda Leis, Spencerville; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Violet Bledsoe.
He was a retired produce manager with A&P Super Market, Lima, and worked with IGA Super Market, Spencerville, and was a member of New Life Church, Huntington, W.V.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. H. Marc Nelson officiating. Burial is at the Spencerville Cemetery.
Calling is from 10 a.m. until services Thursday at the funeral home.
