Verona Fark
Verona W. Fark, 89, formerly of New Bremen and Celina, died Jan. 14, 2002 at the Ohio Pythian Home in Medina.
She was born Aug. 8, 1912, in New Bremen, to John and Martha Sophie (Moeller) Quellhorst. Her husband, Herbert Fark, died in 1998.
Surviving are a son, Roland H. of California; a daughter and her husband, Maryann and John Fetherolf, Chippewa Lake; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Wilbert and Richard Quellhorst.
She had been a bookkeeper at Goldstein's Department Store in Celina and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Celina.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen, the Rev. Douglas Meyer of Celina officiating.
Calling is 4-6 p.m. Friday at Parker & Son Funeral Home, Lodi.
Rosemary Turner
Rosemary R. Turner, 86, formerly of Elm Street, Fort Loramie, died at 11 a.m. Jan. 16, 2002 at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster, where she had resided since 1994.
She was born April 8, 1915, in Maria Stein, to Anton and Mary (Frey) Wissman. On Jan. 10, 1942, she married Joseph F. Turner and he died Sept. 14, 1995.
Surviving are four sons and their wives, Frank and Bonnie, John and Sheila, Paul and Emily and Michael and Phyllis, all of Fort Loramie; two daughters and their husbands, Rosanne and David Grunkemeyer, Piqua, and Susan Elaine and Andy Tillman, Marysville; a stepbrother and his wife, Jerome and Doris Wissman, New Bremen; a stepsister, Adele Hilgefort, Minster; 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Deceased is her stepmother, Alvina (Seger) Wissman.
She formerly worked at Busse's Meat Market in Fort Loramie. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 355, St. Anne Rosary-Altar Sodality and the Knights of St. John Auxiliary, all of Fort Loramie.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

Opal Line
Opal L. Line, 90, 1770 Celina Road, St. Marys, died at 2:15 a.m. [Jan. 17, 2002] at her daughter's home following an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 19, 1911, near Lakeview, to Albert and Haddie Ethel (Greene) Chiles. On April 5, 1930, she married R. Dale Line and he died May 6, 1980.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Roy Albert and Doris Line, Mendon; a daughter, Maxine Wright, St. Marys; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and she had assisted in the operation of the family farm in Salem Township, north of St. Marys. She was a graduate of Anna High School, where she played basketball, a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, St. Marys, and a former member of Salem Grange and the Women's Garden Club, both of Kossuth.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Patricia Minnick officiating. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.
Contributions can be made to Darke-Mercer County Hospice of the church scholarship fund.
John Shumejda
John Michael Shumejda, 56, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., died in a small plane crash Jan. 4, 2002 while on a business trip for AGCO Corp. in Birmingham, England.
Survivors include his wife, Lora of the residence.
Shumejda was appointed president and chief executive officer of AGCO in January 1999. One of the original management members in the buyout of Deutz-Allis, the farm equipment division of Allis-Chalmers that would form AGCO in 1990, Shumejda has held several key management positions at AGCO since. He was executive vice president, technology and manufacturing senior vice president, operations vice president and combined operations and vice president for sales.
A memorial service was held on Jan. 12 at the AGCO corporate headquarters in Duluth, Ga.
Edward Swingle
Edward Richard Swingle, 60, of Bonita Springs, Fla., died in a plane crash Jan. 4, 2002, while on AGCO business in Birmingham, England.
He was born in Canton, Pa., the son of Helen and John Swingle and his mother survives. He married the former Kitty McCarty of Forksville, Penn., and she survives in Bonita Springs.
Also surviving are a daughter, Amber Eidsen of Loganville, Ga., a brother, Bill, of Canton, Penn. and one granddaughter.
One of the five original management members in the buyout of Deutz-Allis, the farm equipment division of Allis-chambers in 1990, he was senior vice president of sales and marketing worldwide for AGCO at the time of his death. Among the positions he held with AGCO were vice president of sales and special projects and president of the parts division in Batavia, Ill. He was a member of the Lees Summit United Methodist Church in Lees Summit, Mo., and of the Masonic Lodge of Bordentown, N. J.
A memorial service was held Jan. 12 at the AGCO corporate office in Duluth, Ga. A second service will be held at the Forksville Methodist Church in Forksville, Pa., on Jan. 19 at 11 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
Henry Aselage
Henry W. Aselage, 81, 52 Elm St., Fort Loramie, died at 4:25 p.m. Jan. 18, 2002 at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster, following an extended illness.
He was born April 2, 1920, in Fort Loramie, to John and Anna (Gaier) Aselage. On June 13, 1951, he married Edna Ahrens and she survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, Gerald and Janice of Russia; two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Richard Hoying, Anna, and Joyce and Kenneth Subler, Fort Loramie; one brother and his wife, Bernard and Betty of Fort Loramie; four sisters and their husbands, Viola and Edward Dietz and Esther and Marion Dietz, all of Botkins, Clarissa and Herb Barhorst, Russia, and Dorothy and Clete Poeppelman, Sidney, and two sisters, Agnes Francis, Versailles, and Hilda Poeppelman, Sidney; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Deceased are two brothers and two sisters.
He retired as a custodian with the Fort Loramie Schools and formerly worked at Niemeyer Oil Co., Minster, and Busse's Meat Market, Fort Loramie. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the European Theatre, and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and American Legion Post 355, both of Fort Loramie, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1391, Minster.

Joseph Breidenbach
Joseph Wesley Breidenbach, 50, of Elida, the father of two Celina residents, died Jan. 16, 2002 at his residence. Death was due to natural causes.
He was born Oct. 20, 1951, in Detroit, Mich., to Wesley and Enid (Gilroy) Breidenbach.
Surviving are an ex-wife, Kimberly May of Celina, two sons, Johnathon Ray and Donavan Joseph of Celina; a half-brother, Charles Gross, Clarksville; and a sister, Etheleen Cunningham, Lima.
He was a self-employed mechanic and a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Bluffton High School and a 32nd Degree Mason of the Masonic Lodge in Bluffton.
His body was cremated and no service or public visitation is planned.
Bayliff & Sons Funeral Home, Cridersville, has charge of arrangements.
Joseph Briedenbach
Memorial services for Joseph W. Briedenbach, 50, of Elida, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, the Rev. Rita Brown officiating. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 will conduct military rites at the funeral home.
Cremation will precede the service.
Briedenbach, who has relatives in Celina, died Jan. 16, 2002 at his residence.
