Vernon King
Vernon King, 81, Huber Heights, formerly of Celina, died July 12, 2001 at Spring Creek Nursing Center in Huber Heights.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, who died in 1992.
Survivors are a daughter, Eleanor Beilharz of Manassas, Va.; a daughter and her husband, Virginia and Allen Davis of Gaffney, S.C.; a son and his wife, Terry and Linda Worley of Huber Heights; a son-in-law, Donald Brock of Huber Heights; three sisters, Jane Grieves, Botkins, Evelyn Zuercher, Lima, and Imogene Ridenour, Van Wert; a brother, Kenneth King, of Florida; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Nancy Brock, and a son, Michael.
He retired from Harrison Radiator after 33 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Antitank Co. 9th Infantry and life member of the St. Marys Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Services will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Marker & Heller Funeral Home, Huber Heights Chapel, 5844 Old Troy Pike, the Rev. Daniel Bellavia officiating.
Private interment will be held at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
Calling is 2 p.m. until services on Sunday.
M. Maxine Vorhees
M. Maxine Vorhees, 75, 127 E. Warren St., Celina, died at 2:08 p.m. July 13, 2001 at The Laurels of Shane Hill Nursing Home, Rockford.
She was born Dec. 26, 1925 in Rockford to LeRoy and Opal (Jackson) Kuhn. On May 6, 1950, she married Virgil Vorhees, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Mark and Scott, both of Celina; a son and his wife, Randy and Bonnie, Celina; two daughters and their husbands, JoAnn and Ned Pryer, Sue and Tom Sanders and a daughter, Beth Vorhees, all of Celina; four brothers and their wives, Kenneth and Frieda Kuhn, Rockford, Donald and Pat Kuhn, Chardon, Charles and Jackie Kuhn, Huntsville, Texas, and Tom and Sue Kuhn, Licking, Mo.; three sisters and their husbands, Margaret and Floyd Highley, Celina, Rita and Vic Claus, Decatur, Ind. and Judy and Phil Lautzenheiser, Van Wert, a sister-in-law, Marilyn Kun, Rockford, 11 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
One brother, Dean Kuhn, preceded her in death.
She was the owner of Kohn News Stand in Celina for 30 years.
Services will be held 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina, the Rev. Richard Riedel officiating. Burial will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina. There will be a wake service at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Darke/Mercer County or Immaculate Conception Endowment Fund.
Geraldine Eichelberger
Geraldine Eichelberger, 82, 1321 Celina Road, St. Marys, died at 2:15 a.m. July 15, 2001, at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys.
She was born April 9, 1919, in Wapakoneta, to Arthur and Prudencia Kellermeyer. She first married Marcus Burden, who died in 1970, and then married William Eichelberger, who died in 1997.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, Jean and Ted Rush, St. Marys; five brothers, Arthur of Spencerville, Robert of St. Marys, Thomas of St. Marys, Richard of St. Marys and Larry of Arizona; four sisters, Betty Youngs, St. Marys, Rita Michael, St. Marys, Carol Beane, Wapakoneta and Mary Jo Speckman, Dayton; and four grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, Mark Allen Burden.
She was a housewife, and had worked at the St. Marys Woolen Mill.
Private family services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys. Burial will follow the service.

Charlie Cheek
Charlie Oakley Cheek, 83, Rockford, died at 5 p.m. July 16, 2001 at his home.
He was born April 10, 1918, in Chenoa, Ky., to Hillary and Sudie (Head) Cheek. On Oct. 2, 1945, he married Della Helton, who survives.
Other survivors are three sons and their wives, Carson and Jane of St. Henry, Grable and Deb of Van Wert and Russell and Tammy of Rockford; three daughters and their husbands, Shirley and Kenneth Miller, Rockford, Peggy and James Garwood, Chattanooga and Mary Lou and John Archer, Rockford; a sister, Janie Carter, Barbersville, Ky.; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Willard and John Robinson, two sisters, Marie Cheek and Ethel Evans, and a grandson.
He was retired from Kerns Chevrolet, Celina, as an auto mechanic. He had also been a railroad engineer for the New York Central Railroad. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in China, Burma and India Theater; he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.) Post 5713, Celina, and the Rockford American Legion Post #508.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Robert Loar officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford, where military graveside services will be held.
Calling is from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home. The V.F.W. Post #5713 will hold a service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, during visitation.

Ethel Rempfer
Ethel Cleona Rempfer, 86, formerly of 412 W. Madison St., St. Marys, died at 5:50 p.m. July 15, 2001, at Maple View Manor, Bainbridge.
She was born Oct. 26, 1914, in Auglaize County, to William Earl and Ethel (Bay) Rempfer.
Survivors are two brothers, John C. Roby, St. Marys and Harland E. Roby, Glynnwood.
Deceased are two brothers, Robert Roby and Clinton Roby; three sisters, Hazel Hood, Rose Mae Henshaw and Mildred Yocum.
She was a finisher at Goodyear, St. Marys, a member of Grace United Methodist Church, St. Marys, and the St. Marys Garden Club.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys. Burial is at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.

Marlene Sealscott
Celina native Marlene Evelyn Sealscott, 58, of Toledo, died July 15, 2001, at Toledo Hospital.
She was born in Celina, to Dewan and Evelyn Sealscott. Her mother survives in Celina.
Other survivors are a brother and his wife, Dennis and Shirley Sealscott, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a brother, Brent Sealscott, Celina; and a sister and her husband, Lisa and Matthew Ridenour, Sylvania.
She worked for 40 years at the Toledo Hospital, and was a member of Central United Methodist Church.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday, at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina. Burial is at Buck Cemetery, Celina.

Mary Borgerding
Mary Alice Borgerding, 80, 408 W. Vine St., Coldwater, died at 4:23 a.m. today [Jul. 18, 2001], at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
She was born June 7, 1921, in Adams County, Ind., to Bernard and Gertrude (Remaklus) Welsch. On June 10, 1944, she married George Borgerding, who died in 1994.
Survivors are two sons and their wives, Ken and Linda of Coldwater, and Randy and Deb of Sidney; and six grandchildren.
Deceased are five brothers, Paul, Harold, Jerome, Lewis and an infant brother.
She had worked at the former Buckeye Apparel, Coldwater. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, and its St. Ann's Rosary Altar Sodality, the American Legion Auxiliary and a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, both of Coldwater.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the church, the Rev. Tom Mannebach officiating. Burial is at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.

Emerita Bramlage
Emerita C. Bramlage, 89, 148 N. Lincoln St., Minster, died at 7:30 p.m. July 17, 2001, at St. Marys Living Center.
She was born Feb. 19, 1912, in Frenchtown, to Nicholas and Amelia (Magato) Grilliot. On Sept. 26, 1936, she married Henry B. Bramlage, who died in 1993.
Survivors are two sons and their wives, Melvin and Linda of Vandalia, and Russell and Susan of St. Marys; a son-in-law, William McCollum, New Bremen; four grandchildren, a step-grandchild and seven great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a daughter, Barbara McCollum, seven brothers and two sisters.
She was a housewife and member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, the St. Monica Ladies Sodality, and the Catholic Knights of America, Cassella.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Louis Schmit officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.

Ruth Cullen
St. Marys native Ruth Goodwin Cullen, 79, Brownwood, Texas, died at 10:07 a.m. July 7, 2001, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 19, 1921, in St. Marys, to Claude and Lillian (DeSilvers) Cramer. In August 1963, she married Aaron Goodwin, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Michael Cullen, St. Paul, Minn.; three daughters, Dona Culbertson, Celina, Theresa Taylor, Brownwood, Texas and Shari Forsyth, San Angelo, Texas; a sister, Lilly Hidy, St. Marys; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Nellie De Grasse.
She was a homemaker.
Gravesite services were held at 1 p.m. July 8, in Salem Cemetery, Texas.

Marlene Sealscott
Rockford native Marlene Evelyn Sealscott, 58, of Toledo, died July 15, 2001, at Toledo Hospital.
She was born on Nov. 10, 1942, in Celina, to Dewan and Evelyn (Rhodes) Sealscott. Her mother survives in Rockford.
