BJ "Bobby Joe" Carr, 13, 303 Sprague St., Willshire, died at 1:45 a.m. July 28, 2001 at Spectrum Health, Grand Rapids, Mich., from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle accident near Alma, Mich.
He was born Dec. 10, 1987, in Van Wert, to Robert J. and Janet A. (Chilcote) Carr, who survive in Willshire.
Other survivors are grandparents, Ed and Mary Jane Krueckeberg, Decatur, Ind.
Deceased is a sister, Stephanie L., grandparents, Benjamin and Ferne Chilcote, and Gene Carr.
He was an eighth-grader at Parkway Middle School, Willshire and a member of United Methodist Church, Ohio City.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur, Ind. Burial is at Willshire Cemetery.
Calling is 1-9 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.

Stephanie Carr
Stephanie L. Carr, 17, 303 Sprague St., Willshire, died at 12:45 p.m. July 27, 2001 at Gratiot Community Hospital, Alma, Mich., from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle accident near Alma, Mich.
She was born April 2, 1984, in Van Wert, to Robert J. and Janet A. (Chilcote) Carr, both whom survive in Willshire.
Other survivors are her grandparents, Ed and Mary Jane Krueckeberg, Decatur, Ind.
Deceased are her brother, BJ Carr, and her grandparents, Benjamin and Ferne Chilcote, and Gene Carr.
She was a senior at Parkway High School, Rockford, a varsity cheerleader, and member of the high school band, Future Farmers of America, and Future Business Leaders of America. She was a member of United Methodist Church, Ohio City.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur, Ind. Burial is at Willshire Cemetery.
Calling is 1-9 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.

Ferne Chilcote
Ferne E. Chilcote, 85, 7413 Glenmore Road, Ohio City, died July 27, 2001 in a single-vehicle accident near Alma, Mich.
She was born Feb. 25, 1916, in Scott, to Samuel Lee and Inez Marie (Hidy) Rice. On Nov. 26, 1945, she married Benjamin Oscar Chilcote, who died Sept. 16, 1990.
Survivors are two sons and their wives, Tom L. and Christina of Van Wert, and James A. and Joyce of Toledo; a daughter and her husband, Janet A. and Robert Carr, Willshire, and a daughter, Jean A. Cozad, Van Wert; a sister, Donna McCoy, Van Wert; and nine grandchildren.
Deceased is a daughter, Brenda Phillips, two brothers, George E. and Delbert E. Rice, and three grandchildren, Stephanie and Bobby Joe Carr (all killed in the same auto accident), and Travis R. Cozad.
She was a homemaker and member of Ohio City United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was a graduate of Van Wert High School and member of the Van Wert YWCA.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Revs. Mike Waldron and Dan Eaton officiating. Burial is at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.

F. Elouise Custer
F. Elouise Custer, 77, 937 Southway, Van Wert, died at 1 p.m. July 27, 2001 in a single-vehicle accident near Alma, Mich.
She was born Dec. 11, 1923, in Van Wert, to Benjamin Oscar Sr. and Josephine (Phillips) Chilcote. On June 3, 1945, she married Norman Richard Custer, who died Nov. 5, 1998.
Survivors are two daughters and their husbands, Beverly J. and Clyde Bellinger, Coldwater, and Tania L. and Ron Barnhart, Van Wert; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Warren G. Chilcote and Benjamin Oscar Chilcote Jr., six sisters, Madaline Kerr, Alva Poling, Iva Demint, Clara Beagle, Helena Chilcote and Pauline Johns, and three grandchildren.
She was a sales clerk at Barnhart's Furniture Outlet, Van Wert, and member of Apostolic Church, Van Wert. She was a 1941 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. David Kuhtenia officiating. Burial is at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.

Brenda Phillips
Brenda Kay Phillips, 49, 194 SE Canal St., Ottoville, died at 1:50 p.m. July 27, 2001 at Gratiot Community Hospital, Alma, Mich., from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle near Alma, Mich.
She was born April 11, 1952, in Van Wert, to Benjamin Oscar and Ferne E. (Rice) Chilcote. Her mother was killed in the same accident on Friday and her father is deceased. On May 27, 1977, she married Jay Dee Phillips, who survives.
Other survivors are two brothers and their wives, Tom L. and Christina of Van Wert, and James A. and Joyce of Toledo; a sister and her husband, Janet A. and Robert Carr, Willshire, and a sister, Jean A. Cozad, Van Wert.
She was office manager at P&L Fertilizer, Middle Point, and had worked at General Electric, Decatur, Ind. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church, Delphos, and its women's ministries. She was a member of Amvets Club, Middle Point, and a 1970 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cowan & Sons Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Revs. Dan Eaton and Mike Waldron officiating. Burial is at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.

Lyle Eads
Lyle E. Eads, 69, 601 South Water St., Jonesboro, Ind., died at 4:48 p.m. July 27, 2001, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, Ind.
He was born March 20, 1932, in Economy, Ind., to James Edward and Anna Marie (Barrier) Eads. On June 24, 1975, he married Carol Speck, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons and their wives, Michael and Brenda, and Jon and Kelli, all of Portland, Ind.; two daughters and their husbands, Marna and Eric Smith, Portland, Ind., and Lisa and Don Dewitt, Syracuse, Ind., and a daughter, Vickie Lewis, Portland, Ind.; three stepsons and their wives, Jack and Sherrie Kikendall, Gas City, Ind., Scott and Cindy Kikendall and Steve and Mary Kikendall, all of Jonesboro, Ind.; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Brenda and Mark Ancil, and Joan and Al Bunch, all of Jonesboro, Ind.; three brothers and their wives, Les and Pat of Portland, Ind., Larry and Moretta, and Leo and Linda, all of Berne, Ind.; a sister and her husband, Louise and Ernie Fugiett, Redkey, Ind., and two sisters, Lorena Bullock, Dunkirk, Ind., and Ladonna Bowling, Berne, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Dixie of Redkey, Ind.; 19 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Deceased is a brother, Dutch.
He was retired from American Pest Control and Vogel's Donuts, Gas City, Ind., and was the former owner of J&L Fruit Market, Portland, Ind. He was a member of Gas City Moose Lodge. He attended Cambridge City Lincoln High School.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, Gas City, Ind., the Rev. Dan Dunham officiating.
Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Gas City, Ind.

Cynthia Krieg
Cynthia (Cindy) L. Krieg, 44, 7389 Ohio 364, New Bremen, died July 29, 2001 of natural causes at her home.
She was born Dec. 28, 1956, in St. Marys, to Lionel and Ruth (Hummel) Krieg.
Other survivors are three brothers and their wives, Harold and Doris of New Bremen, Donald and Dorothy of Wapakoneta, and Larry and Susan of Greencastle, Ind., and a brother, Marvin of New Bremen; three sisters and their husbands, Pat and Joe Wilson, St. Marys, Jean and Ron Olberding, Minster, and Marlene and John Long, St. Marys.
Deceased is a brother, Karl.
She worked at Auglaize Industries, New Bremen, and was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, Chickasaw.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Aug. 1 at the church, the Rev. John Bensman officiating. Burial is at St. Henry Cemetery.

William Black Sr.
William R. "Bill" Black Sr., 75, 5275 Windy Point Road, Celina, died at 11:16 a.m. July 30, 2001, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born Dec. 19, 1925, in Darke County, to Herbert and Nellie (Rue) Black. On March 1, 1947, he married Helen M. Price, who survives.
Other survivors are four sons and their wives, William Jr. and Cheryl of Celina, Robert and Linda of St. Marys, Herbert and Karen of Rockford and Charles and Kris of Celina; a daughter and her husband, Star and Douglas Zizelman, Celina; two sisters and their husbands, Maxine and Melvin Lavey, Bradford and Nila and Benny York, Greenville; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, two sisters and a grandchild.
He was the owner of Windy Point Marina, Celina, and was retired from the former New Idea, Coldwater, where he was a general foreman in the tool and die department.
A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of the Celina Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.) Post #5713 and the Coldwater American Legion Post #470. He was also a member of Montezuma United Methodist Church, the Lake Improvement Association, the Celina Masonic Lodge #241, and had been president of the former New Idea Employees Credit Union and their Steelworkers Union.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday, at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Jon Kraner officiating. Burial is at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Harold Brunswick
Harold "Scrubby" Brunswick, 78, 3716 Ohio 118, Coldwater, died at 12:29 a.m. July 30, 2001, at Van Wert Manor.
He was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Wendelin, to Albert and Ottilia (Schmidt) Brunswick. On Aug. 28, 1954, he married Patricia Voisard, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Mick of Coldwater; three daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Dave Hemmelgarn, Coldwater, Star and Ken Moeller, Philothea, and Terry and David Berning, McCartyville; a brother and his wife, Bob and Tottie of Burkettsville; a sister and her husband, Wilma and Clarence Criss, Mount Prospect, Ill.; and 10 grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Roman and Donald.
He was retired from the former New Idea plant in Coldwater, was former owner of Brunswick Rides and a used car salesman for Werling Motors, Coldwater. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, and its Holy Name Society. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1991, past commander and longtime Honor Guard member of Fort Recovery American Legion and longtime member and past commander of Coldwater Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.). He was a member of Commander Club and charter member of Coldwater Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Military burial services provided by Fort Recovery Legion and Coldwater V.F.W. is at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.

Raymond Roller
Raymond Roller, 69, 721 W. North St., St. Marys, died at 3:25 p.m. July 29, 2001, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 23, 1931, in Jelico, Ten., the son of Allen and Angela (Goeley) Roller. On Oct. 30, 1965, he married Shelby Jean Tuttle, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Jeffrey Slone, St. Marys; a daughter and her husband, Gwen and Joe Sturgill, St. Marys; a daughter, Marnetta Slone, St. Marys; five sisters, Bertha Bradley, St. Marys, Shirley Orick, St. Marys, Sally Fredericks, Frankfort, Ind., Mary Roller, Chicago and Sandy Bruns, St. Marys; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, Michael Slone, and a brother, John.
He was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, St. Marys, where he had worked for 25 years. He was a member of the St. Marys Missionary Baptist Church where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent and as the choir director and pianist. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Alva Daniel officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
