Linus Heitkamp
Linus F. Heitkamp, 73, 2181 Buckeye St., Maria Stein, died at 4:05 p.m. Jan. 18, 2002 at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.
He was born April 18, 1928, in Minster, to Frank and Emma (Voskuhl) Heitkamp. On June 23, 1956, he married Patricia Pepiot and she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters and their husbands, Becky and Robert Leo Simon, Fort Loramie, and Betty and Sam Pohlman and Bonnie and Michael Subler, all of Yorkshire; three brothers and their wives, Ivo and Wilma of Coldwater, Tom and Martha of Celina, and Frank and Joyce of Minster; a sister and her husband, Dolores and Bill Munch, Arizona, and two sisters, Adella Golden, Minster, and Marie Will, New Bremen; and six grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Elsie.
He was co-owner of Heitkamp Construction, a member of St. John Catholic Church, Maria Stein, and a life member of the Ohio National Farmers Association.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Kenneth Schroeder officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
Joseph Laux
Joseph C. Laux, 75, 7136 N. 650 E., Bryant, Ind., died at 11:20 a.m. Jan. 17, 2002 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born March 8, 1926, in Jay County, Ind., to Joseph and Frances (Wellman) Laux. On June 6, 1945, he married Betty A. Wagner and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons and their wives, Tom and Crystal of Bryant and John and Sharon of Farmland, Ind.; two daughters and their husbands, Donna and Richard Haffner, Portland, Ind., and Carol and Michael Arnold, Pennville, Ind.; a brother, Victor of Geneva, Ind.; two sisters and their husbands, Esther and Richard Frisbie, St. Marys, and Helen and Joseph Montgomery, Bryant, and two sisters, Bernie Eichelberger, Wapakoneta, and Sister Rosemary, Salem Heights (Dayton); 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Kathy; two brothers and a sister.
He retired from Reynolds & Reynolds in Celina in 1991. He was a member of St. Mary of the Presentation Catholic Church, Geneva, and the St. Joseph Men's Society of Holy Trinity Church in Bryant.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Monday at the Geneva church, the Rev. Ed Narcowich officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bryant.
Calling is 2-7 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
Lloyd Gillum
Lloyd G. Gillum, 78, 1001 Myers Road, Celina, died at 7 p.m. Jan. 20, 2002 at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born Nov. 10, 1923, in Jeff, Ky., to Robert and Angeline (Oak) Gillum. His wife, Mary Vogen, is deceased.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Thomas and Wendy of St. Marys; three daughters and their husbands, Lori and Mark Gottschall, Coldwater, Michelle and Steve Gill, Seattle, Wash., and Brenda and Jim Adkins, Ocean Springs, Miss.; a brother and his wife, Charles and Pat of West Carrollton; a sister and her husband Lois and Mike Baker, also of West Carrollton; 13 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, three great-grandchildren and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Ronald; a daughter, Carolyn Croston; three brothers, Roy, Bobby and Elmer; and a sister, Jane Carver.
He retired from the former Agco Division of New Idea, Coldwater, after 30 years.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Kathleen Hayes officiating. Burial is at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Alvira Niekamp
Alvira M. Niekamp, 90, formerly of 3158 Ohio 118, St. Henry, died at 6:20 a.m. Jan. 19, 2002 at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.
She was born Oct. 4, 1911, in Coldwater, to Herman and Aggie (Uhleman) Osterholt. On Feb. 17, 1931, she married Roman Niekamp and he died in 1972.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, Floyd and Mary Ellen and Roger and Pat, all of St. Henry, and Harold and Nancy of Minster; a sister-in-law, Joan Feldhake, Coldwater; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Norbert and Carl.
She had worked as a bookkeeper for the former United Grain in St. Henry and Fox & Hess Elevator in Coldwater, and as a veterinary assistant for Dr. George Wenning in Maria Stein. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Mannebach officiating. Burial will be at St. Henry Cemetery.

Bernard Stroh
Bernard L. "Bernie" Stroh, 80, 12500 Plattner Road, St. Marys, died at 3:27 a.m. Jan. 19, 2002 at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys, following an extended illness.
He was born Aug. 6, 1921, in Auglaize County, to Carl and Flossie (Meyer) Stroh. On Aug. 4, 1946, he married Virginia Youngs and she survives.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, Greg and Linda of Lake Forest, Ill., Dave and Genia of St. Marys and Tom and Chris of Martin, Tenn.; a daughter and her husband, Mary and Pat Moran, St. Marys; a sister, Mary Hirsch Sicke, St. Marys; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Everett, and two sisters, Anna Stroh and Clarabelle Dicke.
He retired from the St. Marys Post Office and formerly owned Hotel Fort Barbee and the Island Dress Shoppe in St. Marys. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II, and was a member of American Legion Post 323 and Wayne Street United Methodist Church, both of St. Marys.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. David Woodyard officiating. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 6-9 p.m. today and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Nathan Condon
Nathan Condon, 11, 8748 Stratford Place, Versailles, died at 6:29 p.m. Jan. 20, 2002 at Children's Medical Center in Cincinnati. Death was due to head injuries sustained in a school playground accident.
He was born Sept. 2, 1990, in Piqua, to Brian and Barb (Borchers) Condon. They survive in Versailles.
Also surviving are a brother, Aaron, and two sisters, Staci and Laura, all of Versailles; the paternal grandparents, Jim and Jenny (Siefring) Condon, Versailles; the maternal grandparents, Richard and Martha (Bornhorst) Borchers, Russia; and the paternal great-grandmother, Rita Condon, Sebring, Fla.
He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, and a fifth grader at Versailles Elementary School. He was active in baseball, basketball, soccer, swimming and football.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. David Vincent officiating. Burial will be at St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles.

Julia Schwarck
Julia E. Schwarck, 85, 29 N. Eastmoor Drive, New Bremen, died Jan. 20, 2002 at her residence.
She was born Nov. 22, 1916, in St. Marys, to Leonard and Margaret (Kohler) Shelby. On March 3, 1934, she married LeRoy Schwarck and he died June 27, 1972.
Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Barbara and William Tostrick, New Bremen, and a daughter, Hope Ginter, St. Marys; a brother and his wife, Leland and Marge Shelby, St. Marys; a sister-in-law, Sandra Schwarck, Celina; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Terry; a daughter, Shirley Lunt; a sister, Evelyn Shelby; and three grandchildren.
She had worked at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, the Rev. John W. Tostrick officiating. Burial will be at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
