Dolores Sturgis
Dolores Ann Sturgis, 66, Cranberry Prairie, died at 11:17 p.m. July 27, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Dec. 12, 1935, in Cranberry Prairie, to Philip and Rose (Klosterman) Quinter. On April 14, 1956, she married Dene Sturgis and he survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Tim of Celina and John of Cranberry Prairie; two daughters and their husbands, Tina and Robert Swain, Celina, and Tracy and Don Sawmiller, St. Marys, and a daughter, Tammy Homan, Cranberry Prairie; a brother and his wife, Elmer and Janet Quinter, Richmond, Ind.; a sister and her husband, Alice and Robert Rish, Phoenix, Ariz., and a sister, Mary Ann Testa, Staten Island, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.
Two sons, Thomas and Tony, and two brothers, Paul and Harold Quinter, are deceased.
She retired from Huffy in Celina. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Sodality, both of Cranberry Prairie, and the Fort Recovery American Legion Auxiliary.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. David Hoying officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Clarence Tangeman
Clarence H. "Pete" Tangeman, 92, 115 N. Mill St., Coldwater, died at 10:17 a.m. July 28, 2002, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
He was born Jan. 6, 1910, in Coldwater, to John and Mary Katherine (Kremer) Tangeman. On Jan. 19, 1939, he married Ann Losekamp and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons and their wives, Robert and Sue of Sikeston, Mo., and Richard and Marcia of Lambertville, Mich.; a daughter and her husband, Mary and Paul Dapore, Versailles; a daughter-in-law, Judy Tangeman, Charleston, S.C.; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, five stepgreat-grandchildren and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, James; a brother, Ferd; and a grandson.
He owned Hi-Speed Service Station from 1938-1948 and worked there until 1965. He also worked as a guard at New Idea, Coldwater, until retiring in 1976. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Coldwater Fire Department from 1945-1965, serving as chief from 1960-1965.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society, both of Coldwater, and the Knights of St. John, Maria Stein.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Ronald Wilker officiating. Burial will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.

Christine Otte
Christine M. Otte, 44, 8164 Ohio 705, Yorkshire, died at 2:15 p.m. July 28, 2002, at Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion, Ill. She had been ill with cancer since November.
She was born Sept. 22, 1957, in Sidney, to Urban and Doris (Hoelscher) Hoehne. They survive in Newport. On Nov. 19, 1977, she married Thomas L. Otte and he survives.
Also surviving are a son, David, at home; three daughters, Jennifer and Melissa, also at home, and Laura of Columbus; two brothers and their wives, Ken and Kimberly Hoehne and John and Michelle Hoehne, all of Versailles, and a brother, Andy Hoehne, Newport; and two sisters and their husbands, Jean and Bruce Watercutter, Newport, and Michele and Barry Barga, Versailles.
A 1975 graduate of Russia High School, she was a homemaker and a 20-year member of the Osgood Life Squad. She was serving as honorary chairman for this year's Battle of the Badges campaign to spur interest in blood donation. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, where she had served as a CCD teacher, the St. Barbara Ladies Sodality and the American Legion Auxiliary, all of Osgood.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. David Zink officiating. Burial will follow at St. Martin Cemetery, Osgood.

Alvin Bensman
Alvin J. Bensman, 78, 68 E. Star Road, North Star, died at 6 p.m. July 28, 2002, at his residence.
He was born April 21, 1924, in Minster, to August and Marie (Heitbrink) Bensman. On Nov. 27, 1952, he married Joann Meyer and she survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, Russell and Barbara of St. Henry, and two sons, Robert of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Roderick of North Star; a daughter and her husband, Ruth Ann and Gary Krieg, St. Anthony, and a daughter, Rebecca of North Star; three brothers and their wives, Virgil and Mildred and Roland and Sharon, all of Versailles, and Leroy and RoseMary of St. Henry, and two brothers, Valinus of Versailles and Lester of Coldwater; a sister and her husband, Betty and Ivo Walterbusch, Maria Stein; and four grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Richard, and two sisters-in-law, Phyliss and Patty Lou Bensman.
He had worked as a truck driver for Subler Transfer, Versailles, and General Highway Express, Sidney. Following retirement, he operated Al's Sharpening Service in North Star.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and the American Legion, all of North Star, the Knights of Columbus and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, both of Versailles.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. David Zink officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion.

James Fannon
James Richard "Dick" Fannon, 72, 214 Cheyenne Drive, Wapakoneta, died at 9:05 p.m. July 29, 2002, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 22, 1929, in Auglaize County, to Lee and Ruth (Fee) Fannon. On Oct. 1, 1949, he married Alberta L. Chappie and she died Nov. 16, 1990.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Scott and Bev and Shawn and Kristy, all of St. Marys; two daughters and their husbands, Kimberly and Tony Toben and La Ree and Floyd Owsley, also of St. Marys; two brothers, Charles of St. Marys and Everett of Rockford; a sister, Nelma Hecht, St. Marys; and six grandchildren.
He retired as an electrician at Minster Machine Co. and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was Snaps the Clown in the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9289 Clown Unit.
In addition to being a life member of the VFW, he was a member of American Legion Post 323, St. Marys, the Aug-Mer Shrine Club, Antioch Temple AAONMS, Dayton, Loyal Order of Moose Chapter 2259, Sebring, Fla., Fort Recovery Masonic Lodge and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 691, AMVETS Post 333 and Brand's Lake Fishing Club, all of Wapakoneta. A 32nd Degree Mason, he also was a member of the Ancient & Accepted Order of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. James O. Byrne officiating. Private burial services will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Rose Mary Edge
Rose Mary Edge, 82, of Coldwater, died at 11:48 a.m. July 29, 2003, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
She was born April 27, 1921, in St. Henry, to Edward Feltz and Louisa Mary Muhlenkamp Feltz-Werling. Her husband, Norton Leroy Edge, died in 1969.
Surviving are a brother, Norbert (Wilma) Feltz, Liberty, S.C., and three sisters, Hilda (Sylvester) Rosenbeck, St. Wendelin, Agnes Wenning, Huber Heights, and Mary Catherine Moeller, Celina.
Two brothers, Joseph and Everit Feltz, and two brothers-in-law, Edward Wenning and Louis Moeller, are deceased.
She retired from Mersman Furniture Co. in Celina. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and St. Ann's Rosary Altar Sodality, both of Coldwater.

Bertha Granger-Lawrence
Bertha Granger-Lawrence, 83, 507 N. Second St., Coldwater, died at 4:24 p.m. July 29, 2003, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
She was born May 8, 1920, in Portland, Ind., to Sam and Mary Martin Franks. Her husbands, Arthur Granger and Samuel Lawrence, are deceased.
Surviving are four daughters, Sharon (Jerry) Wood, Joplin, Mo., Barbara Schwenzer, Sidney, Cheryl (Michael) Amedeo, Chandler, Ariz., and Pat (Norm) Moeller, Celina; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, John, and three sisters, Esther, Zella and Thelma.
She was a homemaker.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Macedon Cemetery.

Pauline Moorman
Pauline Moorman, 82, of Coldwater, died at 3:20 p.m. July 29, 2003, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
She was born May 30, 1921, in Coldwater, to Henry G. Wenning and Anna Agnes Vondrerwell Bonifas Wenning. On May 16, 1942, she married Anthony Moorman who died Aug. 8, 1972.
Surviving are 10 sons, Jim (Elaine) of Chickasaw, Sam (Lilly) and Chris (Mary Agnes), both of St. Henry, Bob and Terry (Carol), both of Celina, Randy of South Whitely, Ind., Ted (Marti) of Fairfield, Pat of Lawrenceburg, Ind., Tim (Susan) of Coldwater, and Dave (Joan) of Maria Stein; and seven daughters, Jane (Paul) Clune and Dot (Ken) Tobin, both of Coldwater, Donna (Don) Siefring and Sandy (Gene) Smart, both of Celina, Cathy (Rick) Homan, Bryant, Ind., Tina (Steve) LaMott, Hamilton, and Nita (Dave) Scudder, Independence, Ky.
Other survivors include two sisters, Henrietta Hart, Versailles, and Margaret Tobe, Fort Recovery; a sister-in-law, June Wenning, Covington; 46 grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, five stepgreat-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are seven brothers, Eldon, Ivo, Ben, Leo and Isadore Wenning and Leonard and Emmit Bonifas, and a sister, Bernie Fiala.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, St. Ann's Rosary Altar Sodality, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5135 Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #3025.

Helen Fessler
Helen Bolton Fessler, 75, of Celina, died at 9:49 a.m. July 28, 2003, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Aug. 30, 1927, in Covington, to Frank and Dora Gish. In 1946, she married Merrill Bolton who died in 1978. On Dec. 12, 1981, she married Lawrence Fessler who died Dec. 27, 2001.
Surviving are a son, Gary Bolton, Piqua; a daughter, Sherry (Charles) Tyson, Piqua; a stepson, Marion (Janice) Fessler, also of Piqua; a stepdaughter, Rita Carol (Bill) Pappas, Sarasota, Fla.; a brother, Raymond Gish, Covington; a granddaughter, six stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
A brother, Harold Gish, and a sister, Ann Kurtz, are deceased.
She had worked for Daniels Bakery and was a homemaker. She was a 1945 graduate of Covington High School and a member of Congregational Christian United Church of Christ, the American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Loyal Order of Moose Auxiliary, all of Piqua, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, Celina. She was a leader in the Scouting program in Piqua for many years and chairman of the VFW Americanism program.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, Piqua, the Rev. Richard Henry Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua.

Ralph Griesdorn
Ralph E. "Bud" Griesdorn, 71, 419 E. Walnut St., Coldwater, died July 28, 2003, at Dayton Heart Hospital.
He was born Nov. 8, 1931, in St. Rose, to Julius and Philomenia Fiely Griesdorn. On Jan. 22, 1955, he married Mildred M. Severt who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Randy (Marge) of Celina, and Gary (Deb), Tim (Lynda) and Todd (Janelle), all of Coldwater; three daughters, Nancy Gerlach and Lori (Gene) Buening, both of Coldwater, and Carol of Dayton; three brothers, Luke of Chickasaw, Clete (Margie) of St. Rose, and Mark (Margie) of Cassella; a sister, Thelma Barber, St. Henry; 15 grandchildren and a stepgrandchild.
Two brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law and a granddaughter are deceased.
He was the former owner and operator of Coldwater Auto Repair and Coldwater Shell Service and a 10-year member of the Coldwater Volunteer Fire Department.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Men's Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus Council 1991, all of Coldwater, and a life member of American Legion Post 470 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5135, also of Coldwater. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
