Josephine Heitkamp
Josephine M. Heitkamp, 82, 312 Lane Ave., New Bremen, died at 11:45 p.m. June 30, 2003, at St. Marys Living Center.
She was born May 4, 1921, in St. Anthony, to John and Elizabeth Post Homan. On Jan. 13, 1945, she married Oscar J. Heitkamp who died March 12, 1997.
Surviving are three sons, Earl (Marie) of Versailles, Neal (Jane) of St. Henry, and Dale of New Bremen; four daughters, Diann (Roger) Bornhorst, Karen (Cliff) Thatcher and Linda (Rob) Huber, all of New Bremen, and Nancy (Bill) Lampert, Raleigh, N.C.; two sisters, Barbara Kremer, New Bremen, and Madonna Kremer, Dayton; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Ten brothers and sisters are deceased.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer, New Bremen.
Arrangements are pending at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen.

Homer Maxson
Homer E. Maxson, 79, 2100 Celina Road, St. Marys, died at 2:40 p.m. June 30, 2003, at Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home.
He was born April 26, 1924, in Van Wert, to Durbin and Arlene Roller Maxson. He first married Pearl Lamb. On Dec. 4, 1982, he married Norma Clouner who survives.
Surviving are two sons, Virgil of Lima and Dennis (Kathy) of Wapakoneta; five daughters, Carol McDowell, Newport News, Va., Nancy Greiwe, Waynesfield, Catherine (Art) Stimmel, Elida, Barbara (John) Gieder, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Terry (Rodney) Doyle, Martinsville, Ind.; a stepson, Carey Clouner, St. Marys; two stepdaughters, Debra Brewer, St. Marys, and Retha Best, Winnfield, La.; a brother, Edward of Saginaw, Mich.; 32 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Durbin, and two brothers, Carl and Virgil.
He retired as an electrician at Minster Machine Company and served with the U.S. Air Force in Europe during World War II. He was a life member and past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289, a life member of Disabled American Veterans Post 119, St. Marys, and a member of American Legion Post 210 and MOC Pup Tent #61, both of Celina, the Minster Machine 25-Year Club, the Northmoor Golf Hole-in-One Club and St. John Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta. He was one of the founders of the VFW clown unit.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Michael Nicols officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens with the VFW conducting military rites.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Robert Romine
Robert L. Romine, 56, 221 E. Sixth St., Portland, Ind., died June 30, 2003, at Adams County Memorial Hospital, Decatur, Ind., following a sudden illness.
He was born March 25, 1947, in Bluffton, Ind., to Fred and Margaret Lee Romine. His mother and stepfather, Linus Mescher, survive in Portland. On Oct. 21, 1995, he married Myra Bollenbacher who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Nathan of Bluffton; a stepson, Brad Stein, Portland; a stepdaughter, Turee Boyd, Portland; three sisters, Diana Vance, Muncie, Ind., Sadonna Hinshaw, Saratoga, Ind., and Barbara Spencer, Portland; and six stepgrandchildren.
He was employed as a welder at Strick Corporation in Monroe, Ind. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and served 27 years in the National Guard. He was a member of American Legion Post 211, the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Celina and the National Rifle Association.
Services are noon Thursday at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland. Burial with military rites will follow at IOOF Cemetery, Pennville, Ind.

Jack Barnhouse
Jack D. Barnhouse, 40, Albany, Ind., died July 30, 2001 at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, Ind. after an extended illness.
He was born on Feb. 26, 1961, to Lovett G. and Nancy (Green) Barnhouse. He married Cinda Barnhouse, who survives.
Other survivors are two daughters and their husbands, Dawn and Regal Gregory, Muncie, Ind. and Stephenie and Rick Moore, Richmond Hills, Ga.; a daughter, Lori Turner, Albany, Ind.; a brother and his wife, Richard and Rita Barnhouse, Muncie, Ind.; three sisters and their husbands, Martha and Jerry Hartley, Muncie, Ind., Donna and Dick Fontanini, Coldwater and Patty and Ralph Brooks, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister, Jill Heaston, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
Deceased are his parents, a brother, Michael G. Barnhouse, and a sister, Gay E. Barnhouse.
He was employed as a mechanic, and attended Yorktown Community Schools.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Parsons Mortuary, Muncie, Ind. Burial is at Hawk Cemetery, Muncie, Ind.

George Stover
George Stover, 85, 1017 Ceder St., Celina, died at 2:15 a.m. July 31, 2001, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 20, 1916, in Rockford, to Earl and Daisey Nolan-Stover. On Aug. 18, 1940, he married Mable Harner, who died Nov. 28, 2000.
Surviving is a sister and her husband, Glenda and Lloyd Casey, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Deceased are two brothers, Wilford and Marco Stover, and a sister, Ruby McCain.
He was retired from Lake Contracting in Celina, where he worked as a plumber. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Celina, and graduated from Rockford High School.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at the church, the Revs. Don Ramsey and Carol McKay officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Barbara Zimpfer
Barbara L. Zimpfer, 71, 207 Dogwood Drive, Celina, died at 10:50 a.m. July 31, 2001, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 21, 1930, in Connersville, Ind., to Raymond and Ann Earl. On Aug. 27, 1962, she married Lewis E. Zimpfer, who survives.
Other survivors are a sister, Becky Mosier, Mesa, Ariz.; and a niece raised in her home, Karen Wolf, Carmel, Ind.
Deceased are two brothers, Arthur and Richard Earl.
She had been co-owner of Zimpfer Jewelry Store, Celina, and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, St. Marys.
Private services will be held for the family, with burial at a later date.

Alma Boerger
Alma E. Boerger, 81, 13465 Renee Drive, Anna, died at 5:55 p.m. Aug. 2, 2001, at her home.
She was born Aug. 22, 1919, in Minster, to John and Rose (Sommer) Schmiesing. On Feb. 4, 1941, she married Herbert Boerger, who survives.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, Michael and Pat of Sidney; three daughters and their husbands, Carol and John Bucklew, Dayton, Grace and Robert Burke, Columbus, and Denise and Kevin Greve, Evergreen, Colo.; a daughter, Velma Matuszewski, Columbus; two brothers and their wives, Cletus and Mary Schmiesing, Fort Loramie and Harvey and Viona Schmiesing, Fort Loramie; a brother, John Schmissing, Minster; a sister and her husband, Neoma and George Hoying, Cranberry Prarie; a sister, Edna Enneking, Minster; two sisters-in-law, Helen Schmiesing, Minster and Clara Schmiesing, McCartyville; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a son-in-law, Joseph Matuszewski, and three brothers.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Sacred Heart Church, McCartyville. She was a member of the Rosary Alter Sodality, the Adoration Hours Group, Wilson Memorial Auxiliary Volunteer, the Get To It Craft Club and was a volunteer at Auglaize Schools.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, at the church, the Rev. Patrick Duffy officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.

Robert Kellermeyer
Robert E. Kellermeyer, 77, 800 Indiana Ave., Apt. B5, died at 4:40 a.m. Aug. 3, 2001 at St. Marys Living Center, St. Marys.
He was born Jan. 12, 1924, in Wapakoneta, to Arthur and Prudencia (Howell) Kellermeyer. On June 12, 1960, he married Burnell Hamp, who survives in St. Marys.
Other survivors are three sons and their wives, Mike and Darla of Fort Wayne, Ind., Kenneth and Sandy Hole, St. Marys, and Lance and Teri of Celina; two sons, Robert Jr. of Kahseyville, Calif. and Kirby of St. Marys; two daughters and their husbands, Charlotte and Jerry Wolfe, St. Marys, and Tamara and Bill Klenke, Coldwater; two brothers and their wives, Arthur and Betty of Spencerville and Larry and Shirley of Phoenix, Ariz.; three brothers, Thomas of St. Marys, Richard of St. Marys and Gene of Monticello; four sisters, Betty Youngs, St. Marys, Rita Michael, St. Marys, Carol Beane, Wapakoneta and Mary Jo Speckman, Dayton; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three sons, Charles Hole, Keith Hole and Stafford Kellermeyer, a sister, Geraldine Eichelberger, and two brothers, Jack and Carl Kellermeyer.
He was a district manager for the Indiana-Michigan Power Company, district manager for Commonwealth Insurance Company, and retired from the Ford Motor Company, Lima. He was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School, and attended Fort Wayne Business College. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, serving in World War II. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys.
Private family services are at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys, and burial will follow.

Mary Huelsman
Mary C. Huelsman, 90, 17 E. Franklin St., Chickasaw, died at 11:45 a.m. Aug. 5, 2001, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
She was born June 20, 1911, in North Star, to Edward and Helen (Schoen) Zahn. On July 10, 1929, she married Charles H. Huelsman, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons and their wives, Robert and Marlene of Cassella and Paul and Alice of Chickasaw; five daughters and their husbands, Mary Helen and Edgar Schwieterman, Delphos, Delores and Lowell Bohman, Coldwater, Frieda and Walter Schwieterman, Portland, Ind., Jane and Adrian Grillot, Chickasaw and Jean and Ralph Stachler, St. Henry; two sisters, Henrietta Rentz, Coldwater and Iola Brunswick, St. Marys; a sister-in-law, Loretta Zahn, Vandalia; 30 grandchildren and 63 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons, Charles E. and Frederick, three great-grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters.
She was retired from Huffy Bicycle, Celina, and a member of Precious Blood Church, Chickasaw. She was a member of Knights of St. John Auxiliary, Maria Stein, and the Ladies Rosary Alter Sodality.

Ernest Lefeld
Ernest E. Lefeld, 56, 4904 Gause Road, Coldwater, died in the early morning of Aug. 5, 2001, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born July 6, 1945, in St. Henry, to Seraphim and Clarina (Bettinger) Lefeld. On July 20, 1968, he married Janet Moeller, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Christopher of Reynoldsburg; a daughter and her husband, Amy and John Parker, Dayton; five brothers and their wives, Robert and Marge, Linus and Rosemary, Thomas and Judy, Leo and Virginia, and Valentine and Constance, all of St. Henry; a sister and her husband, Mary and James Jutte, St. Henry; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Richard and Karen Moeller, Centerville and Steve and Linda Moeller, Celina; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Diana and Steven Piehl, New Knoxville and Judy and Short Wilker, Celina; and father and mother-in-law, Richard and Doris Moeller.
Deceased is a brother, Arthur.
He was employed at Pax Steel, Coldwater, and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1991, the Coldwater American Legion Post 470, and was a graduate of St. Henry High School. He was a veteran of the Indiana National Guard.

John Powell
John Michael Powell, 50, Franklin, Tenn., formerly of Beavercreek, died instantly in a one-car accident near his home on July 28, 2001.
He was born Nov. 20, 1950 in Dayton, to John H. and Penny Powell, who survive in Celina. He married Linda Vance, who survives.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, Scott Michael and Andrea of Franklin, Tenn.; a son, John Joseph of Franklin, Tenn.; a brother, Jim of Alpharetta, Ga.; two sisters, Andrea Ladd, St. Louis, Mo. and Lynn Cattell, New Bremen; a mother-in-law, Mary Griffith Vance, Dayton; a brother-in-law, Richard Vance, Dayton; a sister-in-law, Sue Moore, Dayton; and two grandchildren.
He was an engineer with Saturn Automobile and was employed by General Motors for 30 years. He was a member of East Brentwood Presbyterian Church, Brentwood, Tenn., and coached youth soccer. He graduated from Beavercreek High School, and attended Bowling Green State University and the University of Dayton.
Services were held Aug. 1, in Brentwood, Tenn.
