Lila Carmean
Lila J. "Dolly" Carmean, 77, 14115 Ohio 116, St. Marys, died at 3:40 p.m. Jan. 22, 2002 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born May 7, 1924, in St. Marys, to Ottie and Anna (Johns) Wade. On Oct. 15, 1948, she married Shannon W. Carmean and he survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, John and Dorothy Schelby, Cordova, Tenn.; two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Larry Verhoff, Ottawa, and Becky and Dave Dircksen, St. Marys, and a daughter, Vickie Lennartz, St. Marys; a son-in-law, Ramon Perez, Lamont, Ill.; two brothers, Arthur Wade, Loma Linda, Calif., and Floyd Wade, Spencerville; two sisters, Ruth Hindenlang, Wapakoneta, and her twin, Lela Goodpasteur, Delaware; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a stepdaughter, Beverly Perez, and two sisters, Dorothy May and Evelyn Thomas.
She had worked at Vanderhorst Cannery, St. Marys, and Fisher Cheese Co., Wapakoneta. She was a member of St. Marys American Legion Auxiliary Unit 323.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Joachim Wilck officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Rev. Richard Elo
The Rev. Richard Elo, C.PP.S, 65, St. Charles Center, Carthagena, died Jan. 18, 2002 at the center's infirmary. He had been in failing health for many years.
He was born June 24, 1936, in Whiting, Ind., to John and Vera Elo.
Surviving are two brothers, John of Hammond, Ind., and Ron of Highland, Ind.
On Sept. 8, 1950, he entered Brunnerdale Seminary, Canton, and moved to St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Ind., following high school. He later entered St. Mary Novitiate at Burkettsville and was ordained to the priesthood June 8, 1963.
Following ordination, he was assigned to begin graduate studies at Ohio State University and assist at St. James the Less Parish in Columbus. On Aug. 24, 1966, he became an instructor at Del Buffalo (Precious Blood) Seminary, Liberty, Mo. His career as a teacher was short-lived as he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis July 26, 1969. He took a leave of absence and returned to his parents' home before moving to the infirmary at St. Charles in July 1970.
Funeral Mass was held Jan. 21 in the Chapel of the Assumption at St. Charles. Burial followed in the community cemetery.

Eleanore O'Reilly
Eleanore O'Reilly, 85, formerly of 221 N. Pine St., St. Marys, died at 11:15 a.m. Jan. 22, 2002 at St. Marys Living Center, following an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 19, 1916, near North Star, to Henry and Agnes (Goubeaux) Macke. On July 30, 1935, she married James W. O'Reilly and he died Jan. 31, 1995.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Mike and Lena of Hudson, and Tim and Naomi of Beavercreek, and a son, Patrick of Centerville; a daughter and her husband, Bridget and Steve King, Centerville, and a daughter, Jeanne Lehman, Pittsburgh, Pa.; a brother, Paul Macke, Sebring, Fla.; a sister, Angela Weber, Fort Wayne, Ind.; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Alfred and Robert Macke, and a sister, Marjorie Glaser.
She retired as owner of the former Knotty Pine Restaurant in St. Marys and had worked at Wagner's IGA in Minster. A 1934 graduate of Memorial High School, she was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Sodality, all of St. Marys.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. David A. Heinl officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.

William Douglas
William "Bill" James Douglas, 44, of Bryan, died Jan. 22, 2002 at Flower Hospital, Sylvania. Death was due to natural causes.
He was born Jan. 21, 1958, in Peru, Ind., to William A. and Martha (Lewis) Douglas. On Dec. 26, 1976, he married Julie Jacobs of Mercer County and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, William, and a daughter, Sarah A., both of Bryan; two sisters and their husbands, Debbie and Gabby Galbraith and Teresa and Todd Fitzgerald, and a sister, Cynthia Tucker, all of Peru; and a granddaughter.
Deceased is a sister, Karen Rowe.
He graduated from high school in Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif., and worked as head maintenance technician at Adelphia Cable for 12 years.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Rice Funeral Home, Bryan, the Rev. Michael Kelly officiating.

Gerald Freeman
Gerald Levan "Hank" Freeman, 91, 204 Leona St., Celina, died at 4:10 p.m. Jan. 22, 2002 at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born July 23, 1910, in Mercr County, to Charles and Myrtle (Now) Freeman. On Sept. 24, 1932, he married Leona Marie Boise and she died Jan. 7, 2000.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Don and Barbara of Englewood; two daughters and their husbands, Betty and Bill Dumbauld, Xenia, and Shirley and Ron Stachler, Coldwater; a sister, Lola Ruell, Celina; two sisters-in-law, Helen Freeman, Celina, and Patricia Freeman, Viera, Fla.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Clifford and Harold; two sisters, Claudia Freeman and Arretta Nash; and two brothers-in-law, Harold Ruell and William Nash.
He worked 30 years at the Celina Power Plant and retired as superintendent in 1968. He also worked as a boiler operator at Pet Inc., Coldwater, and Home Dairy, Berne, Ind.
A 1929 graduate of Celina High School, he attended Ohio State University and was in the ROTC. A member of Celina First Church of God since 1930, he had served over the years as a council member, Sunday School teacher and superintendent, conference delegate and elder and also helped start the Comrades Class. He served as president of the local chapter of the National Association of Power Engineers and was a former Celina Kiwanis Club member.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina. Burial will be at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Craig Kemmann
Craig A. Kemmann, 17, 07278 Lynch Road, St. Marys, died at 2:26 p.m. Jan. 23, 2002 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. Death was due to injuries sustained in a traffic accident the previous night near St. Marys.
He was born April 6, 1984, in St. Marys, to Terry and Theresa (Rohrbach) Kemmann. They survive.
Also surviving are three brothers, Christopher of Huber Heights, Matthew of Cleveland Heights, and Michael, serving in the U.S.Armed Forces; a sister, Melissa of Riverside; a paternal grandfather, Vernon Kemmann, St. Marys; and maternal grandmother, Ruth Rohrbach, also of St. Marys.
Deceased are the maternal grandfather and the paternal grandmother.
He was a senior at Memorial High School, St. Marys, where he played football for four years and served as a tutor. He worked at Kmart and was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, both of St. Marys.
Funeral Mass is 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. David Heinl officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.

Julia Schwarck
Julia E. Schwarck, 85, 29 N. Eastmoor Drive, New Bremen, died Jan. 20, 2002 at her residence.
She was born Nov. 22, 1916, in St. Marys, to Leonard and Margaret (Kohler) Shelby. On March 3, 1934, she married LeRoy Schwarck and he died June 27, 1972.
Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Barbara and William Tostrick, New Bremen, and a daughter, Hope Ginter, St. Marys; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Schwarck, Celina; a brother and his wife, Leland and Marge Shelby, St. Marys; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Terry; a daughter, Shirley Lunt; a sister, Evelyn Shelby; and three grandchildren.
She had worked at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, the Rev. John W. Tostrick officiating. Burial will be at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
