Hazel Nedderman
Hazel Nedderman, 96, 04670 Glynnwood Road, St. Marys, died at 12:45 a.m. Aug. 25, 2001 at St. Marys Living Center.
She was born July 6, 1905, in Noble Township, to William and Elizabeth (Prueter) Hertenstein. On Jan. 2, 1926, she married Alfred Nedderman and he died Sept. 15, 1989.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Don and Josephine Nedderman, St. Marys; two sisters-in-law, Mary Hertenstein, Hilliard, and Mary Evelyn Hertenstein, Rockford; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are five brothers and five sisters.
She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, St. Marys.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Patricia Minnick officiating. Burial is at Resthaven Memory Gardens, St. Marys.

Carl Wright Jr.
Carl Wright Jr., 76, 400 E. Water St., Union City, died Aug. 26, 2001 at the Dayton Heart Hospital.
He was born May 14, 1925, in Darke County, to Carl E. and Laura (Hall) Wright. Following the death of his first wife, Beatrice (Austerman) Wright, he married Jean (Hilbert) Wright and she survives.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, Leonard C. and Lisa of Atlanta, Ga., and two sons, Douglas I. and Mark A. of Union City; a stepson and his wife, Timothy and Julie Lykins, Kokomo, Ind., and two stepsons, Herman J. Beanblossom III, Winchester, Ind., and Rick Lykins, Laguna Niguel, Calif.; a sister, Mary Ellen Reeves, Newport News, Va.; seven grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Dale B. and Chester Wright, and four grandchildren.
He owned and operated C.E. Wright & Sons for 55 years and retired as fire chief of the Union City Fire and Rescue after 55 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving during World War II. He was a member of the Ohio Petroleum Marketers Association, Central-Western Firemen's Association, Ohio Fire Chiefs Association and the Darke County Fire Chiefs Association.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Union City, Ind., the Rev. Elizabeth Nickel officiating. Burial with military honors by the Union City Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion is at Union City Cemetery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Reichard Funeral Home Inc., Union City, Ind.

William Apple
William G. Apple, 54, 14566 U.S. 127, New Weston, died Aug. 25, 2001 at MacNeal Hospital, Berwyn, Ill, due to natural causes.
He was born Nov. 19, 1946, in Versailles, to Norbert Wayne and Louise (Lindsey) Apple. His mother survives in Versailles. On Sept. 7, 1964, he married Sharon Keiser, who survives.
Other survivors are two daughters and their husbands, Lisa and David Linn, Piqua, and Teresa and William Torris, Greer, S.C.; two brothers and their wives, Harold and Carol Apple, Versailles, and Thomas and Janet Apple, Hebron; two sisters and their husbands, Shirley and Keith Spitzer, Versailles, and Marilyn and George Riegle, New Carlisle; and four grandchildren.
Deceased is a grandson, Thomas William Torris.
He was a welder at H.B. Products Inc., Sidney. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, North Star.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. David L. Zink officiating. Burial is at St. Louis Cemetery, North Star.

Kenneth Harner
Kenneth D. Harner, 34, 10009 Neptune-Mendon Road, Mendon, died at 4:18 a.m. Aug. 27, 2001 in the emergency room at Community Hospital, Coldwater, the victim of an apparent suicide.
He was born May 2, 1967, in St. Marys, to Joseph and Gloria (Boroff) Harner, who survive in Mendon.
Other survivors are a son, Brent of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Victoria of Celina, and Amanda of Wapakoneta; two brothers and their wives, Kirt and Tracy Harner, Mendon, and Klinton and Amy Harner, Coldwater; a sister and her husband, Katrina and Bill Cartwright, St. Marys; maternal grandmother, Geraldine Boroff Nussbaum, St. Marys; an an ex-wife, Paula Stant Miller, Atlanta.
Deceased are the paternal grandparents and the maternal grandfather.
He attended school in Mendon and formerly worked at New Idea, Coldwater. He was a member of the First Church of God, St. Marys, and the Coldwater Eagles.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Charles Richtmyer officiating. Burial is at Bethel Cemetery, Mendon.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Kimberly Schmidt
Celina native Kimberly S. Schmidt, 43, Decatur, Ind., died at 4:35 a.m. Aug. 25, 2001 at her residence due to natural causes.
She was born May 17, 1958, in Celina, to Oliver Perry and Linda L. (Ellis) Brandon. The mother survives in Celina. On Aug. 31, 1986, she married Dan L. Schmidt, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Joe M., Decatur; a daughter and her husband, Mistie and Jamie Tharp, and two daughters, Amanda and Samantha Shope, all of Decatur; three brothers, Olen Brandon, Georgia, and Jon Brandon and Matt Ross, both of Celina; three sisters, Sharon Sutter, Frostproof, Fla., Mary Jean Thomas, Celina, and Kathy Miracle, Knoxville, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.
She was a homemaker.
No public funeral service or visitation is planned.

Luella Wehner
Luella M. Wehner, 87, a resident of Celina Manor nursing home, 1001 Myers Road, died there at 5:55 p.m. Aug. 26, 2001.
She was born July 28, 1914, in Shelby County to William and Mary (Shaffer) Opperman. Her husband, Lewis E. Wehner, died May 14, 1991.
Surviving are a son, Richard Wehner, Anna; a brother, Forest Opperman, Wapakoneta; a sister, Pearl Cane, Mesa, Ariz.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a granddaughter, two sisters and four brothers.
She retired from Copeland Corp., Sidney. She was a member of Botkins United Methodist Church.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Cromes Funeral Home, Sidney, the Rev. Fred Gillenwater officiating. Burial is at Loramie Valley Cemetery, Botkins.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Junior Wycuff
Celina native Junior L. Wycuff, 57, 511 State St., Wabash, Ind., died at 2:19 a.m. Aug. 26, 2001 at Wabash County Hospital, Wabash, Ind. due to natural causes.
He was born July 9, 1944, in Celina, to Richard and Hazel (McDowell) Wycuff. The mother survives in Macedon. On Oct. 17, 1965, he married Vadie Hurt, who died Dec. 26, 1977. On June 16, 1979, he married Una McGuire, who survives.
Other survivors are three daughters, Tamara Roberts, Lagro, Ind., Rozella N. Borgmann, Summerville, S.C., and Eva M. Hatfield, Marion; five brothers, Dale of Rastus, Tom of Durbin, John and Jake, both of Macedon, and Bill of Fort Recovery; five sisters, Ann Heppeard, Mendon, Ruth Stettler, Willshire, Susan Fisher and Mary Evers, both of Fort Recovery, and Dorothy Gilbert of New Weston; and four grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, David Griffey.
He was retired from Celotex, Lagro, Ind., after 33 years.
No service or visitation is planned.

Edward Bernard
Edward H. Bernard, D.D.S., 88, 322 E. Main St., St. Henry, died at 8:04 a.m. Aug. 28, 2001 at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born Nov. 19, 1912, in St. Henry, to Henry J. and Matilda C. (Romer) Bernard. On June 7, 1938, he married Bernice A. Frederick who died Jan. 23, 1969. On April 15, 1972, he married Emma Lou Althoff and she survives.
Other survivors are two sons and their wives, Bob and Sue of Beavercreek, and Chuck and Cindy of Fremont; two daughters and their spouses, Marjorie and Jerome Braun, Milford, and Helen and Bill Shackleford, Port Clinton, and a daughter, Dorothy Nieset, Fremont; a brother and his wife, John and Tammy Bernard, Crossville, Tenn.; one sister and her husband, Ann and Ferd Kopp, Beavercreek, and three sisters, Mary Faller, Fort Recovery, Sister Mary Henry and Sister Matilda, both of Cincinnati; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son-in-law, Don Nieset, and three brothers, Paul, Richard and Joseph Bernard.
He had been a dentist in St. Henry since 1935. A graduate of the Ohio State University College of Dentistry, he was a life member of the American Dental Association and an honorary member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and the Mercer County Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks, Celina.
The Funeral Mass is at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Thursday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry. A wake service is scheduled there at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Waldo Burger
Former Mendon resident Waldo E. Burger, 95, died at 5:40 a.m. today at Celina Manor Nursing Home, where he resided.
He was born Dec. 13, 1905, in Mercer County, to Fredrick and Flora (Sherer) Burger. On Oct. 19, 1927, he married Neola Clay and she died Nov. 20, 1994.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Richard and Skye of Oakhurst, Calif., and Derl and Janette of Celina; a daughter and her husband, Patty and Gary Fox, Fairfield; two grandchildren who were raised in the home, Vicky Hicks, North Carolina, and Eric Burger, Mendon; eight other grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, John, Fred, Charlie and Oscar Burger, and three sisters, Minnie and Chloie Burger and Lizzie Garwood.
He had farmed until the age of 75 and worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., St. Marys, for 20 years. He was a member of the Mendon First Church of God.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at the church, the Revs. Glenn Masser and Dean Bruce officiating. Burial is at Mendon Cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at W.H. Dick and Sons Funeral Home, Mendon, and 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church.
Vera Helman
Vera Jeannette Helman, 73, 4450 Dawson Road, Houston, died at 2:37 p.m. Aug. 27, 2001 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.
She was born Sept. 13, 1927, in Bradford, to Isaac Leonard Luther and Grace Mae (Brannan) Pitsenbarger. On Nov. 1, 1947, she married Dale N. Helman and he survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Ted D. of Sidney and Barry C. of St. Marys; one daughter and her husband, Pamela and Gary L. Ginn, and a daughter, Kimberly K., all of Houston; two brothers, Vaughn Pitsenbarger, Piqua, and Clyde Pitsenbarger, Bradford; three sisters and their husbands, Velura and William Cowan and Onda and Donald Meyer, all of Houston, and Phyllis and Ted Feragne, Tucson, Ariz., and a sister, Linda Paisley, Bozeman, Mont.; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two stepgranddaughters and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are an infant son, two brothers and two sisters.
She retired as a seamstress from Medalist Allen-A, Piqua, in 1987. She was a member of the Houston Congregational Christian Church and attended the Oran Christian Church, where she was treasurer of the IHS Sunday School Class, organized Bible School and taught Sunday School classes.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at Cromes Funeral Home, Sidney, the Rev. Dale Ritts officiating. Burial is at Miami Memorial Park, Covington.
