Elizabeth Fritz
Former St. Marys resident Elizabeth S. Fritz, 100, died at 2:15 p.m. Aug. 18, 2002, at the home of a niece in Sebring, Fla.
She was born April 15, 1902, in Venedocia, to H.B. and Mary (Meihls) Sunderland. On June 5, 1948, she married James F. Ellsworth and he died Oct. 27, 1959. On Nov. 23, 1973, she married Charles A. Fritz and he died March 7, 1986.
Surviving are three stepdaughters and their husbands, Gloria and David Freet, Covina, Calif., Marilyn and Robert Colwell and Susan and Charles Pixler, both of Defiance; a sister, Mary Montague, Huntington, Ind.; two nephews and five nieces, including a niece and her husband, Sandra and Gary Halbert, Sebring, Fla., with whom she had resided since 1995.
Deceased are four brothers, Robert, J.B., Harmon and James Sunderland, and six sisters, Dorothy Dickman, Emma Sunderland, Ruth Furry, Martha Miller, Helen John and Donna Sunderland.
She retired as a secretary with City Loan and Savings, Lima, in 1962 after 26 years of service. She and her six sisters were members of the Susana Russell Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Lima, setting a record at the time for the most sisters in one chapter. She was a former member and choir member at Trinity United Methodist Church, Spencerville, and First Presbyterian Church, St. Marys. She also was a member of First Baptist Church in Sebring.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. John G. Medaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Spencerville Cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mary Reed
Mary Margaret McAtee Reed, 59, 145 Maple Grove, St. Marys, died at 9:34 a.m. Aug. 19, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. Death was due to natural causes.
She was born Dec. 7, 1942, in Port Clinton, to John and Beata (Seal) McAtee.
Surviving are a son, Richard of St. Marys; a daughter and her husband, Theresa and Jeff Hays, St. Marys; two brothers and their wives, Kenny and Mary McAtee, Port Clinton, and Joe and Dorothy McAtee, Riverside, Calif.; a sister and her husband, Joy and Charles Sherrick, Middletown, and a sister, Shirley Mosley, Port Clinton; and two grandchildren.
A son, Robert Reed, died in infancy.
A 1961 graduate of Port Clinton High School, she was employed at JCPenney Co. for 29 years and was office manager at the store located in St. Marys Square Shopping Plaza. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary, both of St. Marys.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. David A. Heinl officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.

Verena Tobe
Verena E. Tobe, 78, formerly of Fort Recovery, died Aug. 19, 2002, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.
She was born July 8, 1924, in Montezuma, to Henry and Eleanora (Wilker) Moeller. On April 21, 1945, she married Cletus Tobe Sr. and he died Aug. 3, 1985.
Surviving are seven sons and their wives, Robert and Jane, Kenneth and Grace, Martin and Rosie, David and Rita and Eric and Lou Ann, all of Fort Recovery, Lester and Kathy of Fort Loramie, and Cletus Jr. and Gail of Rossburg; six daughters and their husbands, Shirley and Joseph Langenkamp, Celina, Bernice and Daniel Westgerdes and Patricia and Thomas Flaute, all of Minster, Eleanore and David Hamilton, Kettering, Margaret and Michael Bruggeman, St. Henry, and Susan and Michael Thien, Fort Recovery; 55 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include a brother and his wife, Richard and Doris Moeller, Celina; two sisters and their husbands, Dorothy and Eugene Schoenlein, St. Peter, and Ellen and Andrew Kramer, Chickasaw; a brother-in-law, Richard Boeckman, Minster; and a sister-in-law, Florentine Moeller, Chickasaw.
Deceased are two grandchildren, two brothers, Wilbert and Arthur Moeller; two sisters, Alvira Boeckman and Viola Ontrop; and a sister-in-law, Rita Moeller.
She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, both of Minster, and the Altar Sodality of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Fort Recovery church, the Rev. Paul Wohlwend officiating. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
Max Loffer
Max H. Loffer, 74, 719 W. Oliver St., St. Marys, died at 7:15 p.m. Aug. 21, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 15, 1928, in Quincy, to Lowell and Mary (Hubbell) Loffer. On Dec. 20, 1947, he married Alberta Ahlers and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Carol and Steve Axe, St. Marys, and Stacy and Mike Fledderjohann, New Knoxville, and a daughter, Rebecca Moeller, Sidney; a brother and his wife, Richard and Barbara of St. Marys; a sister-in-law, Jean, of Angola, Ind.; and six grandsons.
One brother, the Rev. Robert Loffer, is deceased.
He retired from Jeffers Crane Service in Lima, where he had been a heavy equipment operator. He served with the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II. He was instrumental in the formation of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289 in St. Marys and served as the post's first commander from 1955-1957. He was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 323 and Mercer Lodge 121, Free and Accepted Masons, all of St. Marys, and the Buckeye Sheriff's Association.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. David Woodyard officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

William McGough
William V. McGough, 59, 105 E. Broadway St., Fort Recovery, died Aug. 21, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. Death was due to complications following a heart attack.
He was born Sept. 27, 1942, in Celina, to Wallace and Genevieve (Steiner) McGough. His mother survives in Fort Recovery. On Aug. 29, 1976, he married Cynthia Steveson and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Bob, David and Wallace, all of Fort Recovery; a daughter, Stacey of Sidney; three brothers and their wives, Westley and Rosemary of Hicksville, Frank and Judy of West Lafayette, and John and Sharon of Celina; two sisters and their husbands, Jane and Herb Tobiss, Dayton, and Kathy and Bob Rutledge, Rockford, and two sisters, Joan Staugler, Fort Recovery, and Jeanette Ballou, Pikeville, Ky.; his mother-in-law, Bonnie Steveson, Fort Recovery; and two grandchildren.
Deceased are a sister, Rose Ann Teboe, and his father-in-law, William Steveson.
He was employed at P.A.B. Construction, Coldwater. A Celina High School graduate, he served with the U.S. Army's Big Red One Unit in Vietnam, where he received a Purple Heart.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, the Rev. Robert Dungan officiating. Burial with full military rites will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Guadalupe Morales
Guadalupe Morales, 60, of Westlaco, Texas, who resided in St. Henry six months each year, died Aug. 20, 2002, at the home of a daughter in Primera, Texas. Death was due to natural causes.
He was born Dec. 12, 1941, in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico, to Atanacio and Eufemia Morales.
Surviving with his wife, Juliana, are two sons and their wives, Guadalupe Jr. and Lisa Ann of Vaiden, Miss., and Atanacio and Aida of Weslaco; two daughters and their husbands, Alicia and Antonio Aguilar, Primera, and Gloria and Javier Alonso, St. Henry; two brothers, Camilo of Weslaco and Alejos of Mission, Texas; three sisters, Francisca Banda, LaBelle, Fla., Refugia Villarreal, Donna, Texas, and Gregoria Garay, Alamo, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
A brother, Domingo, is deceased.
The Morales family worked for Beckman & Gast Co. in St. Henry six months each year.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at San Martin De Porres Catholic Church, Weslaco, Deacon Jose Garza officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Weslaco. In addition, he will be remembered during a Hispanic Mass at 7 p.m. Saturday at the St. Henry Catholic Church.
Calling is 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Guerra Funeral Home Chapel of the Angels, Westlaco. The rosary will be recited there at 7 p.m.
Keith Draper
Keith Alan Draper, 36, of Baton Rouge, La., a grandson of former St. Marys residents, died at 11:45 p.m. Aug. 20, 2002, at his residence. Death was due to natural causes.
He was born April 17, 1966, in Anderson, Ind., to Ernest L. and Barbara (Ellis) Draper. They survive in Cullman, Ala.
Also surviving are two brothers, Robert B. of Cullman and David L. of Sheffield, Ala.; and the grandparents, the Rev. Robert and Marjorie (Eichenauer) Ellis of Cullman, formerly of St. Marys, and Bruce Draper, Indianapolis, Ind.
He was manager of Zale's Jewelry Store in Baton Rouge.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Robert Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
There will be no calling hours at the funeral home.
Norma Geise
Norma Jean Geise, 64, Wapakoneta Avenue, Sidney, died Aug. 21, 2002, at her residence. Death was due to natural causes.
She was born June 12, 1938, in Dayton, to Lawrence A. Meyer and Ester (Kinninger) Meyer Ruppert.
Surviving are a son, Daniel K. of Fort Loramie; two daughters and their husbands, Deborah L. and John Tatum, Piqua, and Beth and Paul Burks, Sidney, and a daughter, Elaine E. of Sidney; eight grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, two foster grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother and his wife, Donald L. and Nancy Meyer, Sidney; a sister and her husband, Ruth Ann and Donald Pleiman, Punta Gorda, Fla.; four stepbrothers and their wives, Larry Joe and Terry, Ronald R. and Sarah, Jerry L. and Linda and William C. and Cathy, all of Piqua; and a stepsister, Terri L. Meyer, Sidney.
Her stepfather, LeRoy Ruppert, is deceased.
A 1956 graduate of Fairlawn High School, she retired from Copeland Corp. in 1992. She was a volunteer for Shelby County Childrens Services and a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Shelby County Historical Society, all of Sidney.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Fort Loramie, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.

Gestine Kuck
Gestine H. Kuck, 77, 1270 Southland Road, New Bremen, died at 8:40 p.m. Aug. 21, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Dec. 9, 1924, near New Bremen, to Raymond and Dorothy (Brockman) Kettler. On Aug. 9, 1945, she married Eugene W. Kuck and he survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, David W. and Janet of New Bremen; a daughter, Karen, of Columbus; a brother and his wife, Louis and Cora Kettler, Wapakoneta; three sisters and their husbands, Lucille and Robert Bulpn, Kettering, Eunice and Herbert Hay, Coldwater, and Gloria and Thomas Gross, St. Marys, and two sisters, Virginia Heil, Grand Rapids, and Louise Kettler, St. Marys; and three grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Thomas Kettler, and two sisters, Shirley Kettler and Norma Lampert.
She was a homemaker and a former employee of Miami Valley Milk Producers, Dayton, and the Auglaize County Treasurer's Office. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, the Rev. John W. Tostrick officiating. The body was cremated and burial will follow at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is after 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of services.
