Albert Otting
Albert J. "Picket" Otting, 67, 86 S. Cleveland St., Minster, died at 8:40 p.m. Aug. 24, 2002, at his residence. He had been ill the past month.
He was born Feb. 9, 1935, in Dayton, to Charles and Marie (Frigge) Otting. On Feb. 13, 1960, he married Carol J. Lallemand and she survives.
Also surviving are four daughters and their husbands, Karen and Marvin Eilerman, Kathy and James Beck, Kim and Don Bornhorst and Kelly and Dave Sturwold, all of Minster; a brother and his wife, Charles and Janice of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister and her husband, Mary Lou and Sam DiSalvo, Centerville; and eight grandchildren.
He was a retired brick mason with Albert Freytag Inc.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, the Rev. Milton Ballor officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

Wilma Zimmerman
Wilma A. Zimmerman, 75, 902 E. Walnut St., Portland, Ind., died at 2:24 a.m. today, Aug. 26, 2002, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 2, 1926, in Fort Recovery, to Wilbur J. and Alberta B. (Stoner) Snyder. On Nov. 25, 1944, she married Lowell Zimmerman and he died July 8, 1994.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, Tom and Doris and Bill and Linda, all of Portland, and Paul and Brenda of Farmland, Ind., and a son, Mark of Lawton, Okla; two daughters and their husbands, Ruth and Jim Storms, Dayton, and Linda and Mark Sheffer, Portland; two brothers and their wives, Dale and Marian Snyder, Lebanon, Ind., and Carl and Betty Snyder, St. Marys; a sister and her husband, Margaret and John Teeters, Piqua, and a sister, Mary Cox, Union; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
An infant son and an infant daughter are deceased.
She was a 1944 graduate of Fort Recovery High School and a member of the First Church of God, Fort Recovery.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, the Revs. Flint Redwine, Richard Boroff and David Napier officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Donna Borgert
Donna L. Borgert, 57, of Kettering, a relative of several Mercer County residents, died Aug. 22, 2002, at her residence. Death was due to natural causes.
She was born April 21, 1945, in Australia, to Orville and Margery (Malone) Borgert.
Surviving are five brothers and their wives, Terry and Linda of Greenwood, S.C., Christopher and Susie, Sam and Becki and Wally and Jackie, all of Gainesville, Fla., Stuart and Debbie of Bethlehem, Conn., and two brothers, Andrew of Orlando, Fla., and Derek of New York City, N.Y., and a sister and her husband, Tracey and Biff Marshall, Orlando.
She had worked 33 years as a cardiovascular clinical nurse at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where she received a leadership award and was featured on the Miami Valley Wall of Fame.
Memorial Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Dayton, the Rev. Tom Schmidt officiated.
Tobias Funeral Home - Far Hills Chapel, Dayton, had charge of arrangements.

Estella Fishbaugh
Estella M. Fishbaugh, 82, of Lima, died at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 25, 2002, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 3, 1920, in Allen County, to Sim H. and Inez N. (Edgecomb) Howell. On Aug. 14, 1939, she married Mendon-area native Roy Emerson Fishbaugh and he died Nov. 8, 1992.
Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Twyla and Donald Hefner, Tiffin, and Mary and William Petty, Wapakoneta, and two daughters, Beverly Spyker, Wapakoneta, and Janet Poliseno, Columbus; two sisters, Cleo Bennett, Bradenton, Fla., and Norma Kritzer, Jackson Center; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, a grandson, a stepgrandson and a stepgreat-grandson.
She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Perry Sewing Guild, Perry Grange, Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Pomona Grange, all of Lima. She had been a 4-H adviser to the Perry Homemakers for many years and had served on the Board of Elections.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, the Rev. Jeffrey Rolliston officiating. Burial will follow at Ward Cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dean Grieshop
Dean A. Grieshop, 45, 341 E. Sycamore St., Coldwater, died at 4:05 a.m. today, Aug. 27, 2002, at Community Hospital Coldwater. Death was due to cancer.
He was born June 16, 1957, in Coldwater, to Robert and Ruth (Art) Grieshop. They survive in Coldwater. On April 10, 1992, he married Tammy Baker and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Jason of Celina; two daughters, Emily and Jennifer, both at home; four brothers and their wives, Kurt and Wendy, Doug and Deb and Keith and Shelley, all of Coldwater, and Rob and Jenny of Cape Giradeau, Mo.; three sisters and their husbands, Vicki and Ben Dues, Philothea, Lory and Nick Pappas, Noblesville, Ind., and Angie and Jim McGowan, Fort Loramie, and a sister, Patrice of Celina.
He formerly worked at Huffy's in Celina and currently was employed at Tooling Technology, Fort Loramie. A 1975 graduate of Coldwater High School and a U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the American Legion, both of Coldwater, and the Loyal Order of Moose, Celina.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Mannebach officiating. Burial will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater, with the American Legion conducting military rites at the graveside.

Norbert R. Westgerdes, 84, 2568 Sawmill Road, Fort Recovery, died at 2 p.m. Aug. 26, 2002, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born March 18, 1918, in Fort Recovery, to Joseph and Mary (Steinbrunner) Westgerdes. On May 15, 1943, he married Mildred J. Vagedes and she survives.
Also surviving are seven sons and their wives, Ron and Jan of Coldwater, Ken and Barb of Yorkshire, Dan and Nece of Minster, Paul and Jane of Portland, Ind., Gerry and Lee of Indianapolis, Ind., Herb and Kay of Fort Recovery, and Bill and Kelly of Celina; four daughters and their husbands, Marilyn and Larry Parker, Village Mills, Texas, Joann and Steve Jackson, Springfield, Tenn., Arlene and Bob Luttmer, Versailles, and Sandy and Steve Knoth, Fort Recovery; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include two brothers and their wives, Andy and Ruth and Arnie and Vi, all of Fort Recovery, and a brother, Clarence of St. Henry; two sisters and their husbands, Dorothy and Don Muhlenkamp, Fort Recovery, and Sally and Bob Muhlenkamp, Portland, Ind., and two sisters, Julie Ann Wellman, St. Henry, and Naomi Maynard, Oxford, Mass.
Deceased are a brother, Wilbert; four sisters, Irene Kahlig and infants Mary Alice, Mary Agnes and Rolandes; and a grandchild. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society of the church, both of St. Joe.

Lauren Geeslin
Lauren Nicole Geeslin, 14, 15804 Lambert Road, St. Marys, died Aug. 27, 2002, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. Death was due to injuries sustained in a dune buggy accident.
She was born Jan. 20, 1988, to James and Lisa (Langsdon) Geeslin. Her father survives in Coldwater and her mother resides in St. Marys.
Also surviving are a brother, Bill, and two sisters, Sara and Rachel, all at home; the maternal grandparents, Ron and Ruth Langsdon, St. Marys; the paternal grandparents, Gordon and Connie Geeslin, Celina; and the maternal great-grandmothers, Ruth Lee and Ruby Weadock, both of St. Marys.
She was a freshman at St. Marys Memorial High School and a member of New Community Church, St. Marys.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, St. Marys, the Revs. Troy Green and Herb Berry officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.

Mercer County native Lowell E. Shaffer, 71, 8358 N. 000 Road, Decatur, Ind., died at 7:20 a.m. Aug. 27, 2002, at Adams County Memorial Hospital, Decatur.
He was born Feb. 2, 1931, in Mercer County, to Hoyt D. and Edith (Whittenbarger) Shaffer. On Sept. 6, 1952, he married Shirley J. Lichtle and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Steven A., Paul E. and David S., all of Decatur; three daughters and their husbands, Debra K. and Warren Breimon, Vancouver, Wash., Pam S. and James Richards, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Laura A. and Tony Vanlandingham, Decatur, and one daughter, Diane M. Hackman, Orland, Ind.; two sisters and their husbands, Dorothy and William Christian, Celina, and Janet and James O'Neill, Wetzel; 10 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, one great-grandchild and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was employed at Arnold Lumber Co., Decatur, and served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society, both of Decatur. Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Philip DeVolder officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Decatur, with American Legion Post 43 conducting military rites at the graveside.
