Irvin Monroe
Irvin F. Monroe, 90, of Englewood, died Sept. 18, 2000 at the Hospice of Dayton.
He was born Oct. 27, 1909, in Mercer County, to Ralph B. and Martha (Cordier) Monroe. On Nov. 10, 1934, he married Irma L. Menchhofer, who died Sept. 9, 1986.
Survivors are two sons and their wives, Lee and Beverly of Russia, and Lyle and Pennie of Cincinnati; a daughter and her husband, Marilyn and Harold Slusser, Dayton; five sisters, Ruth Powell, Luetta Hill, Lela Snider and Marjorie Brehm, all of Celina, and Luella Amstutz, Berne, Ind.; and five grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Barbara Monroe, four sisters, Opal Robbins, Bernice and Helen Monroe, and Beulah Fennig, and a brother, Clifford.
He was a retired farmer, and served as Director of Central Ohio Breeders Association, and volunteered over 9,000 hours at Good Samaritan Hospital, voted Volunteer of the Year in 1993. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Coldwater, and Fort Recovery Board of Education, where he also served as president. He was a 1927 graduate of Celina High School.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Carl H. Fischer officiating. Burial is at Spring Hill Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Larry Mills
Larry L. Mills, 63, died of natural causes Sept. 19, 2000 at his residence at 5131 Shore Drive, Celina.
He was born Nov. 16, 1936, in Brookville, to Harry and Eldora (Schwierking) Mills. His wife, Wanda, survives.
Other survivors are two daughters and their husbands, Denise and Lynn Robinson, Brookville, and Tammy and Scott Hoening, Coldwater; a son, Scott, of Mercer County; two brothers and their wives, Tom and Geri, and Bill and Vicki, all of Brookville; a brother-in-law and his wife, Paul and Lois Hoops, Brookville; and four grandchildren.
He was retired from Dayton Power and Light, Coldwater, and from the Air Force National Guard. He was the former Clay Township Chief of Police.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Gilbert-Fellers Funeral Home, Brookville, the Rev. P. Daniel Fant officiating. Burial is in Royal Oak Memorial Gardens.
Calling is 4-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Robert Mox
Robert Eugene Mox, 74, died at 11:50 a.m. Sept. 19, 2000 at his Delphos residence.
He was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Delphos to Adolph and Anna (Wren) Mox. On Oct. 1, 1960, he married Rosa Anna Droesch, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Scott of Delphos; two daughters and their husbands, Karen and Thomas Densel, and Sheila and Mark Wright, all of Delphos; and five grandchildren.
Deceased are four sons, Robert Jr., Eugene, Philip and Allan, a sister, Dortha Laudick, and a brother, Walter.
He was retired from Ford Motor Co., and was a former employee of Fruehauf Corp. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 1197, St. John Band Boosters, life member of both Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035 and American Legion Post 268, both Delphos, and served as past vice president of St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was also active in the Midget Football League.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial with military rites conducted by Delphos Veterans Council is at St. John Cemetery, Delphos.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Orians Funeral Home in Delphos, with a rosary wake service conducted by the Knights of Columbus at 7:30 p.m., and a parish wake at 8 p.m.
Contributions can be made to Sisters of the Notre Dame, St. Vincent de Paul Society, the church's parish foundation or to the donor's choice.
Ruth Brookhart
Ruth I. Brookhart, 75, died at 11:30 p.m. Sept. 19, 2000 at her Lima residence.
She was born Aug. 1, 1925, in Rockford, to Walter and Blanch (Hinton) Burke. On March 30, 1945, she married Carl H. Brookhart, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Daniel C. of Lima; two daughters, Beverly J. Young and Barbara J., both of Lima; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter.
Deceased is a brother, Walter Burke.
She was a homemaker and a practical nurse and was a former member of the Lima YWCA.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, the Rev. Stacy Trobman officiating. Burial is at Swamp College Cemetery near Celina.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Louise Goodnick
Louise F. Goodnick, 88, 724 S. Echo St., Celina, died at 4 a.m. Sept. 21, 2000 at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
She was born July 3, 1912, in St. Henry, to Henry and Mary (Huelsman) Placke. On Sept. 30, 1939, she married James Henry Goodnick, who died Aug. 21, 1979.
Survivors include a brother, Julian Placke, Van Wert; and four sisters-in-law, Elsie Placke, Delphos, Esther and Virginia Placke, both of Van Wert, and Mary Placke, Medina.
Deceased are four brothers.
She was formerly employed at Beckman & Gast Canning Factory, St. Henry, and worked for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina, and its Altar Rosary Society.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Richard R. Riedel officiating. Burial is at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Friday and after noon Saturday at the funeral home.

Joseph Reinhard
Former Fort Recovery resident Joseph T. Reinhard, 62, died of natural causes Sept. 17, 2000 at his Bethel Springs, Tenn., residence.
He was born Feb. 2, 1938, in St. Joe, to Joseph and Odelia (Brackman) Reinhard. On Nov. 29, 1958, he married Shirley Steinbrunner, who died Aug. 29, 1992.
Survivors are two daughters, Cindy and Angela, both of Fort Recovery; three sons, Joseph Jr. of Portland, Ind., and James and John, both of Memphis, Tenn.; four brothers, Jerry of Fort Recovery, Eugene of Indianapolis, Ind., Dominic of Celina, and Norbert of Mansfield; and two sisters, Irene Gardner, Washington, D.C., and Ethel Fleck, Chickasaw.
Deceased are his parents, a sister, Sister Sylvia SFP, and a brother, Robert.
He was a truck driver.
Services were held Tuesday. Shackleford Funeral Home, Selmer, Tenn., handled arrangements.
Dulce Oechsle
Dulce Reah Oechsle, 86, 11908 U.S. 127, Mendon, died at 7:02 p.m. Sept. 24, 2000 at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert.
She was born Jan. 10, 1914, in Middlebury, to Fredrick William and Emma E. (Hurless) Oechsle.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Sharon and Mark Lampy, rural Mendon; a sister, Lola Myers, Van Wert; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Clifford, and a sister, Alice Marie Rickard.
She was a homemaker and a sales clerk for the former G.C. Murphy Co., Van Wert. She was a graduate of Wren High School.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert. Burial is at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.

Donald Wellman
Donald V. Wellman, 80, 17955 Ohio 29, New Knoxville, died at 1:15 p.m. Sept. 23, 2000 at Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home.
He was born March 15, 1920, near New Knoxville, to Conrad and Alvina (Holtkamp) Wellman. On May 16, 1941, he married Louise F. Ruese, who died Oct. 19, 1999.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, Kathleen and Jay Elshoff, St. Marys, and a daughter, Kay of Elida; a son, John of St. Marys; a brother, Eldred "Bud" of New Knoxville; a sister-in-law, Lucille Schwabero, New Knoxville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Vernon D., an infant daughter, Katherine A., and an infant brother, Robert.
He was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., St. Marys, and was a former New Knoxville mayor. He also served as former board member and past president of New Knoxville Public Schools board of education and served on New Knoxville Village Council. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of First United Church of Christ and American Legion Post 444, both of New Knoxville.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gilberg Funeral Home, New Bremen, the Rev. David Hunt officiating. Burial is at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

John Roberts
John J. Roberts, 60, died of natural causes at 11:15 a.m. Sept. 25, 2000 at his residence at 1004 Canterbury Drive, Celina.
He was born July 5, 1940, in Celina, to Dorothy (Ballinger) Scifres. His mother survives with his stepfather Glen (Duke) Scifres in Seminole, Fla. On June 20, 1959, he married Mary Ann Wendel, who survives.
Other survivors are four sons and their wives, Todd and Leah of Muncie, Ind., Kerry and Julia, and Daniel and Tabatha, all of Celina, and Stephen and Beth of Brownsburg, Ind.; and 12 grandchildren.
Deceased are his father and a son, John Jr.
He was owner and operator of Roberts Town Tavern, Celina, and was sales manager for Colonial Baking Co. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Loyal Order of Moose, and Fraternal Order of Eagles, all of Celina.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Stephen Merold officiating. Burial is at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina., and after 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Robert Davidson
Robert I. Davidson, 72, of Bryant, Ind., died at 6:45 a.m. Sept. 24, 2000 at Bayshore Medical Center in Pasdena, Texas.
He was born July 16, 1928, in Jay County Ind., to Ora E. and Mildred E. (Valentine) Davidson. On Aug. 6, 1949, he married E. Maxine Glassford, who survives.
Other survivors are three sons, Edward and Robert "Rob," both of Portland, Ind., and Travis Curley, Pasdena, Texas; a daughter and her husband, Cindy and Tom Piper, Celina, and three daughters, Sandy Sanders and Tracy Davidson, both of Bryant, Ind., and Paula Curley, Pasdena, Texas; a brother, Orville, Portland, Ind.; and eight grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother.
He was a retired truck driver for Four Winds of Houston, Texas, and was a member of the teamsters. He was a graduate of Bryant, Ind., High School.
Services are noon Thursday at Downing Funeral Home, Geneva, Ind. Burial is at Gravel Hill Cemetery, Bryant, Ind.
Calling is 3-6 p.m. and 8-10 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
