Viola Brehm
Viola Grace Brehm, 87, of Celina, died at 12:45 p.m. Sept. 5, 2002, at the Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born May 19, 1915, in Geneva, Ind., to Lorin "Polly" and Zelma (Burley) Carr. On Oct. 15, 1936, she married Earl Brehm and he died Dec. 30, 1973.
Surviving are a sister and her husband, Kathryn and Ray Black, Geneva, Ind.; as well as nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, Victor, Gene and Thurman A. Carr; and a sister, Rose Ford.
She was a homemaker and a member of Grace Missionary Church, Celina.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Steve Howell officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. today and after 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Elmer Clarkson
Former Neptune resident and area teacher Elmer R. Clarkson, 96, of Kentwood. Mich., died July 24, 2002, at an assisted living center where he resided.
He was born Jan. 10, 1906, in Lightsville. His wife, Irene, died in October 2001. He is survived by a son, Elmer Jr., and a daughter, Marjorie Larsen, both of Flint, Mich.
He was a teacher at the former Center Township High School in Neptune, and a wood craftsman following his retirement from teaching.
Burial was July 27 at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Michigan.

Charlene Leonard
Charlene Leonard, 55, a resident of St. Marys Living Center and a former resident of 1020 Hendricks Ave., St. Marys, died at 10:42 p.m. Sept. 5, 2002, in the emergency department at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. Death was due to natural causes.
She was born May 28, 1947, in Celina, to Charles and Harriett (Ball) Young. On Aug. 28, 1964, she married Jerry Leonard and he died March 19.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Jerry and Jeannette of St. Marys and Terry and Kim of Wapakoneta; a daughter and her husband, Teresa and David Slife, St. Marys, and a daughter, Tina of Union City; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Other survivors include two brothers, Robert and Ronnie Young, both of St. Marys; and five sisters, Mary Toler and Crystal Adkins, both of Wapakoneta, Joyce Lindeman, Delphos, Rose Krauss, Detroit, Mich., and Ola Crist, St. Marys.
Deceased are two children, Patricia and Jeffrey, and two brothers, Charles and Drake Young.
She formerly worked as a housekeeper at area businesses. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. James Bryne officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Branch Cemetery, Waynesfield.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
John Roby
John N. Roby, 78, 11190 Schroeder Road (Harmon's Landing), St. Marys, died at 12:51 a.m. Sept. 6, 2002, at Valley Nursing & Rehab Center, St. Marys.
He was born March 19, 1924, in St. Marys, to John Clarence and Ethel Elizabeth (Bay) Roby.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, Richard and Janet of St. Marys, Leonard and Kathi of Corning, and John and Carol of St. Marys; a daughter and her husband, Sandra and Michael Meier, Wapakoneta; a brother, Harlan Eugene of Glynwood; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Robert and Clint; four sisters, Mildred Yocum, Cleona Rempfer, Hazel Hood and Mary Henshaw; and two grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had been employed at the former Westin Paper Mill in St. Marys for many years and retired with a disability from the City of St. Marys electrical department. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Glynwood, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 767, St. Marys, and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9287, also of St. Marys.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. James O. Byrne officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton.

Marylou Dunlap
Marylou Dunlap, 70, 9434A John Brown Road, Van Wert, died at 12:05 p.m. Sept. 7, 2002, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
She was born Feb. 23, 1932, in Celina, to William O. and Mary E. (Emans) Agler. On June 1, 1973, she married Robert W. Dunlap and he preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Michael W. and Paula Martz, Wolcottville, Ind., and Kevin M. and Tanya Martz, Greensburg, Ky.; a daughter, Donella L. Cornelius, Van Wert; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Donald Agler and Lynn Soul, and one grandchild are deceased.
She was a member of the Salvation Army, Van Wert.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, with Capt. Pat Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point.

Donald Gray
Celina native Donald O. Gray, 84, of Dayton, died Aug. 27, 2002, at Grandview Hospital, Dayton.
He was born Feb. 24, 1918, in Celina, to Clifford and DeMona Gray.
Surviving with Dona Gray, his wife of 58 years, are three brothers and their wives, Harold and Jean of Alabama, Richard and Mary Ann and Ronald and Charlotte, all of Celina; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Gray, also of Celina.
A brother, Joe, is deceased.
He retired from Rike's Department Store in Dayton after 24 years of service.
Memorial services were 1:30 p.m. Sept. 7 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Central Congregation, Dayton.
House of Wheat Funeral Home Inc., Dayton, had charge of arrangements.
Barbara Koesters
Mercer County native Barbara R. Koesters, 90, of Centerville, died Sept. 6, 2002, at St. Leonard Rehab Center, Centerville.
She was born Nov. 29, 1911, in Carthagena, to Casper and Rosa (Hoelscher) Hess. Her husband, Leonard Koesters, died in 1961.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, Ronald and Joanne of Trotwood, Denis and Linda of Dayton, and Bernard and Susan of Weaverville, N.C.; three daughters and their husbands, Thecla and Richard Zech, Clayton, Marlene and Jefferey Showalter and Carol and Mitchell Deis, Dayton, and a daughter, Diana of Centerville; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother and his wife, William and Stella Hess, Dayton, and a brother, Leo Hess, Carthagena; a brother-in-law, Alex Koesters, Carthagena; and four sisters-in-law, Pauline Hess and Leona Koesters, both of Coldwater, Lucy Hess, Kettering, and Sister Assumpta Koesters, Cincinnati.
Deceased are five brothers, the Rev. Henry, Paul, Joseph, Carl and Casper Hess; a sister, Irma Muhlenkamp; and a great-grandson.
She was a seamstress at Mercy Sienna Retirement Community, Dayton, and a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Kettering.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. today at Routsong Funeral Home, Kettering. Prayers will be offered there at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Clarence Liette
Clarence "Butch" Liette, 86, 472 E. Columbus St., St. Henry, died at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 8, 2002, at the Lima Convalescent Home.
He was born Jan. 25, 1916, in Yorkshire, to Frank and Lydia (Borchers) Liette. On April 26, 1941, he married Clarine Buehler and she survives.
Also surviving are four sons and their wives, Daniel and Veronica of Dayton, Tom and Dottie of St. Henry, Richard and Dixie of Tipp City and Kenneth and Debrah of Union City; three daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Jerome Clune, Maria Stein, Joyce and Matthew Hart, Greenville, and June and Tom Eisert, Lima; 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include two brothers and their wives, Bill and Ruth of St. Marys and Hubert and Mary of Burkettsville; four sisters and their husbands, Loretta and Bob Stammen, North Star, Kate and Cy Dues, St. Henry, Marge and Joe Schmidt, Anna, and Charlene and Curly Pearson, Fort Recovery; and a brother-in-law, Leon Hein, Chickasaw.
Deceased are a brother, Norbert, and three sisters, Rosa Hein, Emerita Greer and Dorothy Schaefer.
He retired from Minster Machine Co. and farming. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Coldwater.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial will be at St. Louis Cemetery, North Star.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10:15 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.

Geneva Mehmert
Geneva B. Mehmert, 86, 87 N. Hanover St., Minster, died at 10 a.m. Sept. 8, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, where she had been a patient seven weeks. She had been ill the past two years.
She was born March 1, 1916, in Minster, to Henry and Elizabeth (Wacker) Mehmert.
Surviving are a niece and her husband, Marsha and Fred Rosen, Ridgefield Park, N.J.; a great-niece and a great-nephew.
Three brothers are deceased.
She retired from Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co. in 1983. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and the Historical Society, both of Minster.
Funeral Mass is 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Louis Schmit officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling will be from 1:30-2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
