Martha Rhoades
Martha Moser Rhoades, 94, of Rockford, died at 4:35 p.m. Sept. 24, 2003, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born Feb. 22, 1909, in Wayne County, to David J. and Lina Bixler Moser. On July 6, 1940, she married Clarence Rhoades who died Oct. 1, 1946.
Surviving are two daughters, Connie (Hubert) Eichenauer, Loudon, Tenn., and Nancy (Ronald) Fleming, Rockford; a brother, Rollin Moser, Bluffton; a foster sister, Virginia Henry, Wooster; four grandchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren, 26 step great-grandchildren and a number of stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three stepdaughters, Edna, Ruby and Mildred, and two brothers, Ivan and Herman.
Following graduation from Bluffton College in 1931, she taught Latin and English at Center, Fairfield and Parkway high schools. She was a member of Rockford United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Women's Christian Temperance Union, Mercer County Retired Teachers Association and Ohio Retired Teachers Association. She taught Sunday School classes for many years at the former Grace United Methodist Church.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Mike Berne officiating. Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mary Dircksen
Mary Jane Dircksen, 55, 200 N. Knoxville Ave., St. Marys, died at 3:20 p.m. Sept. 23, 2003, at Valley Nursing Home in St. Marys. Death was due to natural causes.
She was born June 4, 1948, in Lima, to Herman and Alfreda (Hoying) Dircksen. Her mother survives in New Bremen.
Also surviving are three brothers, Joe (Retta), Baltimore, Md., David (Rebecca) of St. Marys and Roger (Janet) of Lima.
A sister, Susan Ruth, is deceased.
She was manager of Lucky Steer Restaurant in St. Marys. She was a 1967 graduate of New Bremen High School and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. David A. Heinl officiating. Burial will follow at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.
Robert LaBrun
Robert L. LaBrun, 84, 9973 Ohio 49, Rockford, died at 9:20 p.m. Sept. 22, 2003, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.
He was born Oct. 1, 1918, in Wren, to Raymond and Elsie May Miller LaBrun. In 1939, he married Violet I. Brown who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Donald of Rockford; a sister, Marjorie DeBolt, Decatur, Ind.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Larry; a daughter, Marlene Vogel; and a brother, Richard.
He owned and operated Chatt Valley Food Co. for more than 50 years. He also was a farmer, a member of Bethel Brethren Church in Berne, Ind., and a former youth and Little League coach in Chattanooga.
Services are 11:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Joe Nass officiating. Burial will follow at MRE Cemetery in Berne.
Calling is 3-6 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne, and after 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.

Rose Post
Rose Ann Post, 76, 371 S. Walnut St., St. Henry, died at 6:15 p.m. Sept. 22, 2003, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
She was born Nov. 9, 1926, in Philothea, to Joseph and Theresa Stahl Pleiman. On Aug. 7, 1946, she married Ralph J. Post who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Dave (Nancy) of Fairfax, Va., Larry, Mike (Jo) and Don (Linda), all of St. Henry; eight daughters, Carol (Roger) Niekamp, Montezuma, Nancy (Ron) Krugh, Mendon, Betty (Bill) Tobe, Ansonia, Alice (Dave) Mescher, Columbus, Deb (Ken) Puthoff, Diane (Mike) Ahlers and Ann, all of St. Henry, and Brenda (Kevin) Nagel, Maria Stein; and a daughter-in-law, Kim Post, Sylvania.
Also surviving are three brothers, Ernest (Emma) Pleiman, Spencerville, Bob (Betty) Pleiman, Coldwater, and Tom (Marilyn) Pleiman, Findlay; two sisters, Lucille Fleck, Celina, and Margie Dirksen, North Star; a sister-in-law, Salome Pleiman, Coldwater; 42 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Deceased are two sons, Ken and Joseph; two daughters-in-law, Connie and Monique; a brother, Arthur Pleiman; and two sisters, Vera Stelzer and Alice Homan.
She was a homemaker and past president of the Mental Retardation/Developmental Disability Council in Mercer County. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, where she served as a bereavement and Eucharistic minister and sang in the choir, the Daughters of Isabella, Altar Rosary Sodality and Compassionate Friends.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Ora Miller
Ora L. Miller, 94, formerly of 633 Heirholzer St., Celina, died at 6:45 p.m. Sept. 21, 2003, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Feb. 27, 1909, in Celina, to Ora W. and Magdalena Flaler Miller. On Aug. 14, 1934, he married Eddeth Fisher who is deceased.
Surviving are a brother-in-law, Orval Dicke, Celina; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are four brothers, Glen Flaler, and John, Raymond and Hubert Miller; five sisters: Mary Claxton, Hattie Gordon, Grace Brown, Dorothy Dicke and Minnie Hull.
He was employed by Cincinnati Northern Railroad and was a 50-year member of Celina Masonic Lodge #241 Free & Accepted Masons.
Private family services were held today at Friends Cemetery in Rockford, the Rev. Kevin Riesen officiating.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Lehman Funeral Home, Celina.
Paul Poling
Van Wert native Paul Richard "Dick" Poling, 77, of Columbia, Tenn., died Sept. 22, 2003, at Maury Regional Hospital, Columbia.
He was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Van Wert, to William Lewis and Beatrice Reed Poling. His wife, Helen Hiller, died Jan. 12, 1982.
Surviving are four sons, Frank (Holly), Mike (Teresa) and Jim (Susan Walker), all of Columbia, and Bob (Debbie) of Pulaski, Tenn.; a brother, Charles of Dunkirk; two sisters, Mary Germann and Linda Hoffman, both of Van Wert; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
A graduate of Van Wert High School, he was a retired farmer, livestock broker and owner of Southern Livestock and Pulaski Stockyards. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and instrumental in starting the Mule Day Sale and Auction on the square in Tennessee.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home, Columbia, with Judge Jimmy Matthews officiating. Burial is at Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbia.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Paul Roebuck
Rockford native Paul D. Roebuck, 75, of Dayton, Nev., died Sept. 16, 2003, at Dayton Parkview Adult Center, Dayton, Nev.
He was born July 20, 1928, in Rockford, to William Curtis and Margaruite Heffner Roebuck. His wife, Nancy, survives.
Other survivors are a son, Paul Jr. of Stagecoach, Nev.; two daughters, Debbie Chapman, Kenwood, Mich., and Beth Fulton, Orange Park, Fla.; a brother, Jerome of Chula Vista, Calif.; two sisters, Bonnie Kolter, Dayton, and Mary Read, Broken Arrow, Okla.; a sister-in-law Shirley of Celina; a brother-in-law, Eugene Putman, Rockford; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers: James, Billy and Tommy Roebuck; and a sister, Iris Putman.
He attended Rockford High School before moving to Fort Wayne, Ind. where he later retired from the former Tokeim Plant. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Fraternal Order of Police and the United Auto Workers Union.
A memorial service was held Monday. Burial will take place a later date at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial in Fernley, Nev.

Andrew Truesdale
Andrew Truesdale, 16, 114 W. Anthony St., Celina, died at 3:22 a.m. Sept. 22, 2003, at Children's Medical Center, Dayton. He was recently diagnosed with leukemia.
He was born Oct. 23, 1986, in Coldwater, to Carl and Emily Wenning Truesdale. His father and stepmother, Tammy Truesdale, and mother survive in Celina.
Other survivors are three brothers, Jason (Holly), Aaron and Travis; a half-sister, Melissa; two stepsisters, Nikki and Beth Poppe; and a stepbrother, Bryan Poppe, all of Celina.
He was a junior at Celina High School and worked at Wendy's in Celina. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, also of Celina.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, Deacon Thomas Huff officiating. His body will be cremated.

Rosemary Gibson
Rosemary Gibson, 82, formerly of 308 S. Pine St., St. Marys, died at 12:02 a.m. Sept. 21, 2003, at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys.
She was born May 28, 1921, in St. Marys, to John E. and Mary L. Burden Whitehead. On Sept. 18, 1938, she married William H. Gibson who died Feb. 25, 1979.
Surviving are two sons, Billy (Brenda) and Paul (Nancy), all of St. Marys; a daughter, Melody (William) Grunden, St. Marys; seven grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, John; a daughter, Sharon Rose; and a great-granddaughter.
She was a homemaker.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Charles Richtmyer officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.

Ronald Monnin
Ronald L. Monnin, 53, 1369 Peters Road, Fort Recovery, died at 8:17 p.m. Sept. 20, 2003, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater, following an apparent heart attack.
He was born July 3, 1950, in Greenville, to Leo and Jeanette Lallemand Monnin. His mother survives in Minster. On Nov. 3, 1973, he married Diane Guggenbiller who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Shawn of Greenville and Jeremy of Union City; two daughters, Michelle of New Bremen and Nicole (Joe) Laber, Troy; three brothers, Joe (Wanda) of Springfield, Kevin (Bonnie) of Lebanon, and Alan (Lisa) of Sidney; two sisters, Linda (Bill) Gilmore, Gettysburg, and Susan (Chris) O'Brien, Arcanum; and his mother-in-law, Helen Guggenbiller, Burkettsville.
A brother, Lewis, is deceased.
He was employed at Witt Plastics, Greenville. He was a graduate of St. Gregory Seminary, Cincinnati, and a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, and the Knights of Columbus, Greenville. He also served as a Cubmaster and girls softball coach in Greenville.
