John Pruitt
John L. Pruitt, 74, 115 Guy St., St. Marys, died at 9:30 p.m. Sept. 20, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born Jan. 18, 1929, in Antras, Tenn., to Estel and Ida Gibson Pruitt. On July 22, 1948, he married Dalphine G. Hurst who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Don (Connie) of Colliersville, Tenn.; a daughter, Janice (Bill) Coffey, Union City, Tenn.; five brothers, Ralph (Shelby) and Clyde (Etta), all of St. Marys, Arthur (Georgia), Joe (Jean) and Clyde (Ruby), all of Dayton; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, James; and three brothers, Enos, Ray and Virgil.
He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, and operated a radio and television repair service. He was a member of Hillsdale Baptist Church, St. Marys.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Ron Spurgeon officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Robert Pubentz
Robert F. "Bud" Pubentz, 84, 306 S. Brandon Ave., Celina, died at 1:30 a.m. Sept. 20, 2003, at his residence.
He was born April 11, 1919, in Joliet, Ill., to John and Frances Kopp Pubentz. On March 25, 1950, he married Gladene J. Protsman and she died Sept. 4, 1996.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth (Mariann) of Celina; and two grandsons.
Four brothers and five sisters are deceased.
He retired from Huffy Bicycles in 1986 after more than 35 years of service. He served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II and was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church, St. Marys.
Services are 2 p.m. today at W.H. Dick and Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Ed Groff officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
Elene Stahr
Elene J. "Helen" Stahr, 66, Southmoor Shores, St. Marys, died Aug. 31, 2003, at her brother's home in Northville, Mich.
She was born March 11, 1937, in Staten Island, N.Y., to John and Penelopi Pappas. Her husband, Bill G. Stahr, died Sept. 8, 1998.
Surviving are a son, David (Linda); two daughters, Dedra (Charles) Chinn and Susan (Alan) Thompson; two brothers, Peter (Janet) Pappas and Dr. George (Carole) Pappas; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She was a teacher in the St. Marys City Schools for 26 years. She worked with her husband for many years as an Amway distributor and together they established Stahr Video Productions in 1982.
She was a member of the Parent-Teacher Organization and the St. Marys Education Association, serving on the negotiation team. She was a member and treasurer of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
A time of fellowship will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.

Jay Pyle
Jay Pyle, 57, 126 S. Buckeye St., Celina, died Sept. 19, 2003 at 2:15 a.m. at his residence. Death was due to cancer.
He was born Dec. 21, 1945 in Portland, Ind. to Marlin and Reita (Shepherd) Pyle. His father is deceased and his mother lives in Indianapolis, Ind.
On Jan. 3, 1970, he married Mary Bechtol, who preceded him in death. He was then married April 16, 1991, to Jill Shade, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Valerie Cisco, St. Marys; Samantha (Kent) Bicke, Bryant, Ind.; and Danielle (John) Emenhiser, Fort Wayne, Ind.; five grandchildren; three brothers, James (Billie), Indianapolis; and John and Joe, both of Portland, Ind.; and two sisters, Janice Gingerich, Albany, Ind.; and Judy (Steve) Malinowski, Portland.
He served with the United States Army and worked at Amcast Automotive.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Celina
A memorial service is Sept. 27 at 11 a.m., at the church, the Rev. Kathleen Hayes officiating.
Calling is at the church from 10 a.m. to the hour of services.

Norman Bair
Norman D. Bair, 84, of St. Marys, died at 3:40 p.m. Sept. 18, 2003, at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, Spencerville.
He was born April 27, 1919, in Wapakoneta, to Ira Dale and Hazel Mae Jack Bair. On Aug. 30, 1958, he married Letha J. Krites who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Howard D. (Lori), and a daughter, Irene S. (Tim) Mullenhour, all of St. Marys; a sister, Virginia Bair, Columbus; and four grandchildren.
He was a farmer.
The body was cremated and private services will be at a later date.

Carl Patton
Carl E. Patton, 74, 808 Pro Drive, Celina, died at 10:46 p.m. Sept. 3, 2003, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Nov. 1, 1928, in Delphos, to Homer C. and Effie M. Long Patton.
A brother is deceased.
He had worked as a driver for Central Concrete and in maintenance at Memorial Hall, both of Lima.
Private services will be held with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.

Marvel Agler
Former Convoy resident Marvel L. Yoh Agler, 85, of Van Wert, died at 11:35 a.m. Sept. 16, 2003, at Oakwood Village, Springfield.
She was born Jan. 24, 1918, in Van Wert County, to John B. and Mattie Hunter Basil. In 1941, she married Harold Yoh who died in 1946. On June 28, 1952, she married Elmer R. Agler who died Oct. 12, 1995.
Surviving are a son, Phil E. Agler, Houston, Texas; two daughters, Ardith (Larry O.) Howell, Rockford, and Ann (Richard) Combs, Orlando, Fla.; two stepsons, Jerry P. (Sharon) Agler, Lewisburg, Tenn., and Dallas E. (Leigh) Agler, Van Wert; a stepdaughter, Rita (Les) Stewart, Springfield; two sisters, Mildred Basil and Betty (Dudley) Stetler, all of Van Wert; eight grandchildren, one stepgrandchild and seven great-grandchildren.
A sister, Velma Gary, and a great-grandchild are deceased.
She was a homemaker and formerly worked at the old Van Wert County Hospital and National Seal Corp., also of Van Wert. She was a member of Countryside Chapel United Methodist Church, Convoy, the Convoy Grange and Church Women United of Van Wert County.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Monday at Blue Creek Cemetery, Haviland, followed by services at 3 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Wayne Karges officiating.

Alvin Egbert
Alvin Egbert, 70, 5707 Lock Two Road, New Knoxville, died at 5:50 p.m. Sept. 16, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born Feb. 11, 1933, near New Bremen, to Roscoe F. and Lillian Bushman Egbert. On May 25, 1957, he married Barbara Oldiges who survives.
Also surviving are a son, David (Deborah) of Richmond, Va.; a daughter, Pam (Chuck) Karbowiak, Wapakoneta; three brothers, Adrian (Mary) of Botkins, Lawrence (Marlene) of New Bremen and David (Judy) of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three sisters, Brunhilda (Edwin) Wittenbrink, New Bremen, Norma (Don) Mumaw, Versailles, and Janet (Allen) Kuck, Quincy; five grandchildren and a great-grandson.
A granddaughter is deceased.
He was a farmer and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, American Legion Post 241 and the Historic Association, all of New Bremen. He was a founder and charter member of the Minneapolis Moline Collectors Club and the Buckeye Farmers Antique Tractor Club.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Revs. Richard Weir and John Tostrick officiating. Burial will follow at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Friday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Jerome Gehm
Jerome "Roma" Gehm, 88, 9271 Wabash Road, Rockford, died at 1:20 a.m. today, Sept. 18, 2003, at Colonial Nursing Home, Rockford.
He was born Sept. 28, 1914, in Liberty Township, to Jacob and Mary Alt Gehm. On Jan. 12, 1946, he married Helen Shivley who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Rita (Richard) Werst and Theresa Berry, all of Celina; a sister, Beulah Pierstorff, Rockford; a sister-in-law, Loretta Gehm, Rockford; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Earl and William; five sisters, Matilda, Bertha, Pearl, Norma and Tuska; and a granddaughter.
He retired from farming and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Rockford, where he served on numerous church boards, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Rockford. He had served as a volunteer fireman with the Chattanooga Fire Department.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. John Fleming officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, and after 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Helen Stahl
Helen T. Stahl, 82, 332 E. Kremer-Hoying Road, St. Henry, died at 5:40 a.m. Sept. 17, 2003, at The Gardens at St. Henry.
He was born March 9, 1921, in St. Henry, to Edward and Anna Schoenlein Stahl.
Surviving are four brothers, Richard (Lucille) and Louis, all of St. Henry, Ernest and Donald (Esther), all of Celina; two sisters, Rita (Wilmer) Borgert and Esther (Harold) Davis, all of St. Henry; and two sisters-in-law, Marcella Stahl, St. Henry, and Agnes Stahl, Chicago, Ill.
Deceased are two brothers, Clarence and Herb, and two sisters-in-law, Margaret and Julia.
She was employed at Avco New Idea, Coldwater, for 41 years. She was a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church and the Altar-Rosary Sodality of the church.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
