David Roether
David Lee Roether, 71, 8846 Ohio 197, Celina, died at 4:50 p.m. Sept. 10, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born June 8, 1932, in Mercer County, to Lee H. and Maxine Michaels Roether. On June 9, 1956, he married Marianne McClure who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Paul David of Celina; a daughter, Kathy (Mark) Langsdon, St. Marys; a brother, William R. (Delores) of Frost Proof, Fla.; and a grandchild.
He was engaged in farming and retired from General Telephone Company in 1991. He later worked at Kerns Pontiac-Oldsmobile in Celina.
A 1951 graduate of Neptune High School, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a 44-year member of the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Auxiliary, member and past commander of Celina American Legion Post 210 and a member of Neptune Church of God.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Tim Clutter officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Juande Brackman
Juande Lavon Brackman, 88, of Fayette, died on Sept. 9, 2003, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home, Archbold.
She was born Sept. 11, 1914, in Pioneer, to Ray and Freda Smith Hibbard. Her husband, Fred Brackman, is deceased.
Survivors are a son, Harold (Judy) of Fayette; four daughters, Jean (Rex) Wallace, Celina, Nancy (Robert) Shull, Defiance, Sue (Gene) Schaffner, Fayette, and Phyllis Munday, Archbold; a brother, Durwood (Vera) of Fayette; 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a daughter, Patricia Oxender, two brothers, Pete and Max Hibbard, and a granddaughter.
She was a member of Fayette Christian Church and the Fayette Legion Auxiliary.
Services are Thursday at the Eagle Funeral Home, Fayette, the Rev. Mary Jo Bray officiating. Burial is at Pleasant View Union Cemetery, Fayette.

Norma Huber
Norma Marie Huber, 66, Karafit Road, Celina, died at 1:40 p.m. Sept. 9, 2003, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
She was born Sept. 8, 1937, in New Weston, to Ferdinand and Leona Knapke Heuing. On July 31, 1965, she married Myron Huber who died Feb. 8, 1998.
Surviving are a son, Terry (Christine) of St. Sebastian; three daughters, Kim (Alan) Sutter and Renee, all of Celina, and Sherri (Joel) Ranly, St. Henry; five sisters, Mary Ann (Jerry) Leopard, Alice Leopard and Ida (Jerry) Boeckman, all of Dayton, Jean (Harold) Borgerding, Fort Recovery, and Margie (Lester) Fleck, Celina; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Heuing, Russia; and eight grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Melvin Heuing, and three sisters, Dorothy Tobe, Edna Koesters and Leona Heuing.
She owned and operated the Shingle Shack for more than 20 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers Sodality, both of Montezuma, Southshore Sportsmen's Club, the Lake Improvement Association and the Women of the Moose, Celina.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. James Dugal officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.

Charles Havener
Former Celina resident Charles G. Havener, 70, of Gahanna, died Sept. 3, 2003, at St. Ann Hospital, Columbus.
Surviving with his wife, Shirley, are two sons, David (Nancy) and Dan (Mary); a daughter, Lee Ann; a sister, Mary Lou (Bob) Zibert; a brother-in-law, Jerry (Sheila) Ringholz; and five grandchildren.
Deceased are his parents, Bernard and Gwen Havener; a stepfather, Clayton Stout; and a brother, Francis.
He had been an insurance claims manager with Celina Insurance Group and Continental Insurance Co. before retiring from C.N.A. Insurance Co. in 1996. He later worked for Settele Dental Labs. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Gahanna, and an honorary life member of the Celina Knights of Columbus Council.
Funeral Mass was 1 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial followed at Blendon Central Cemetery.
Hill Funeral Home, Westerville, had charge of arrangements.

Rita Bonifas
Rita D. Bonifas, 81, of Coldwater, a former Spencerville resident, died at 9:15 p.m. Sept. 6, 2003, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 31, 1922, in Delphos, to Bernard and Francis Schaffner Wiechart. On Oct. 24, 1942, she married Kenneth H. Bonifas who died May 4, 2001.
Surviving are four sons, Clifford of St. Marys, Joe (Janet) of Spencerville, Howard (Nancy) of St. Henry, and Ralph (Amy) of Coldwater; a daughter, LaDonna (Melvin) Craft, Celina; a sister, Genelda Huggins, Delphos; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, Gilbert, Anthony, Jerome and Bernard Wiechart; three sisters, Dolly Haunhorst, Martha Mosier and Aileen Bendile; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She was a homemaker and a former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Spencerville. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, and a life member of the auxiliaries of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289, St. Marys, and Harry J. Reynolds American Legion Post 191, Spencerville.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Spencerville church, the Rev. John Fleck officiating. Burial will follow at Spencerville Cemetery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, where a parish wake service is set for 7:45 p.m. followed by an American Legion Auxiliary service at 8 p.m.

Ruth Derton
Ruth W. Derton, 79, formerly of Huntington, W. Va., died at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 5, 2003, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
She was born July 6, 1924, in Mason County, West Virginia, to O.J. and Maud Roberts Hensley. Her husband, C. A. Derton, died in 1983.
Surviving are a son, Jeffrey Rose, Huntington; a daughter, Belinda (Warren) Rodgers, Celina; a sister, Mary Reed, Huntington; and four grandchildren.
Five siblings are deceased.
She retired as a secretary at Ferguson Plumbing in Huntington.
Memorial services are 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Adam Granger officiating. Calling is after 6 p.m. until the time of services.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Chapman Mortuary in Huntington, the Rev. Wayne Carter officiating. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Ona, W. Va. Calling is after 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Clifford Hoffhines
Clifford E. Hoffhines, 86, of Rockford, died at 11:39 p.m. Sept. 6, 2003, at Adams County Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Ind.
He was born March 15, 1917, in Champaign County, Ill., to Dan and May Staples Hoffhines. On June 17, 1939, he married Bessie R. Smalley who died June 21,1996.
Surviving are a son, Dennis (Marcia) of Rockford; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A brother, Donald, and a sister, Ethel, are deceased.
He was a 1934 graduate of Rockford High School and a retired farmer.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Deb Domeier officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling is 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Henry Krick
Henry Junior Krick, 84, 109 S. Main St., Mendon, died at 5:25 p.m. Sept. 6, 2003, at his residence.
He was born April 10, 1919, in Van Wert County, to Henry W. Sr. and Ellen Murray Krick. On April 9, 1938, he married Marcile Irene Sherman who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Larry (Alice) and Martin (Betty), all of Celina, and Lowell (Martha) of Mendon; three brothers, Arthur (Lois) and Robert (Mary), all of Celina, and Eugene (Betty) of Spencerville; a brother-in-law, Loyd Simpson, Mendon; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters, Leona in infancy and Dora Catherine Simpson; a grandson and a great-grandson.
He retired from New Idea, Coldwater, in 1981 after 33 years of service. He attended Mendon First Church of God and was a member of the Mercer County Sportsman's Association and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Van Wert.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Dean Bruce officiating. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery.

Jack Pohl
Jack Nicholas Pohl, infant son of Jeff and Lora Holdheide Pohl, 24 Mill St., Chickasaw, was stillborn at 2:25 p.m. Sept. 5, 2003, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton.
One of a set of triplets, he is survived by a brother, Benjamin, and a sister, Natalie. Also surviving with the parents are another sister, Molly, at home; grandparents, Paul and Rosalee Holdheide, Maria Stein, and Lavern and Rita Pohl, Osgood; and the great-grandmother, Mary Hoelscher, Osgood.
Private services will be at Precious Blood Catholic Church, Chickasaw, the Rev. John Bensman officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Nelson Eichenauer
Nelson Adam Eichenauer, 88, Monroe Road, Celina, died at 10:08 p.m. Aug. 21, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 28, 1915, in Celina, to Edward and Florence Nungester Eichenauer. On Feb. 25, 1939, he married Erma Jane Daugherty, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, David (Jan) of Newark; two daughters, Patricia (Richard) Reigle, Hilliard, and Karen (Robert) Cisco, Celina; five sisters, Vivian (Dillon) Laffin, Clearwater, Texas, Marjorie (Robert) Ellis, Cullman, Ala., Joan (Paul) Kimmel and Virginia Strable, all of Celina, and Imogene Homan, Angola, Ind.; seven grandchildren, one stepgrandchild, 18 great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
A sister, Sharon Ann, is deceased.
He retired from farming and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in St. Marys. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Celina.
Services were 10:30 a.m. Aug. 25 at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina, the Rev. Kenneth Baker officiated. Burial followed at Swamp College Cemetery.
