Jerry Knouff
Jerry L. Knouff, 41, 2332 Ohio 29 West, Celina, died around 11:30 a.m. Oct. 24, 2001 of injuries received in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. 127 and Ohio 705 near North Star.
He was born Jan. 12, 1960, in Piqua, to Johnnie and Janet (Rhynard) Knouff. The father survives in Celina. On Oct. 12, 1985, he married Cecelia E. Nagy and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Kyle J. and Joshua A., and a daughter, Amber K., all at home; a brother and his wife, Jon D. and Elaine, Anna, and two brothers, Jay and Jason Knouff, Celina; and two sisters and their husbands, Jeannene K. and Tim Burnside, Piqua, and Jill L. and Mike Anthony, Botkins.
He worked at Fleck Farms Inc., Chickasaw. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina, and the Mercer County Cattleman's Association.
Funeral Mass is 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Richard Riedel officiating. Burial is at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and 8-9 a.m. Saturday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina.

Todd Miller
Todd A. Miller, 18, 825 Motz St., St. Marys, died at 11:22 a.m. Oct. 23, 2001 in the emergency room at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. He was taken there following a shooting at his home.
He was born Oct. 31, 1982, in St. Marys, to Brenda (Cook) Sutton and Scott Miller. They survive in St. Marys.
Also surviving are three brothers, Johnathan of Lebanon, and Andrew and Toby, both of St. Marys; and the maternal grandparents, James and Theora (Ketcham) Cook, St. Marys.
Deceased are the paternal grandparents, Dave and Linda.
He was a 2001 graduate of Memorial High School, St. Marys, and an employee of Setex Corp., also of St. Marys.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, Miami-Erie Chapel, St. Marys, the Rev. Joachim Wilck officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Madonna Fleck
Madonna Mary Fleck, 77, 119 Magnolia St., Celina, died Oct. 28, 2001 at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Aug. 6, 1924, in Celina, to Edward Peter and Mary Jane (Garman) Fleck.
Survivors are a brother and his wife, Ralph and Betty, and a brother, Harold, all of Celina; two sisters-in-law, Rosie and Patty, both of Celina; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Gerald and Steve Fleck.
She was retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, and worked at Jack Steele's Automotive, Celina. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Celina, and its Altar Rosary Society. She was a 1942 graduate of the former Immaculate Conception High School and worked as a volunteer at the present school. She was a graduate of Ohio University, Athens. She was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II at the Naval Air Supply Depot in Philadelphia, Pa., where she was a Specialist First Class and earned the World War II Victory Medal and the American Campaign Ribbon. Her name is on the Women's Memorial of World War II in Washington, D.C. She was named an Honorary Citizen of Boys Town U.S.A. and was a member of Western Ohio Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
A memorial Mass is planned at the church at a later date to be announced. She bequeathed her body to The Ohio State University Department of Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy, for research and education.
Contributions can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or to the church.

John Keefer
John E. Keefer, 79, 4655 S. 600 E., Wabash, Ind., died at 6:35 a.m. Oct. 28, 2001 at Wabash County Hospital.
He was born Jan. 3, 1922, in Roanoke, Ind., to Elmer and Gladys (Pequignot) Keefer. On June 29, 1951, he married Ruth E. Haines Speicher who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Dennis K. Stanley, Ossian, Ind.; two daughters and their husbands, Chrisann and Elden Heckler, Celina, and Jennifer and John Ott, Wabash, Ind.; two stepsons and their wives, Stephen and Tina Speicher and Roger and Jane Speicher, all of Wabash, Ind.; four half-brothers, Raymond of Summitville, Ind., Phil of Sevierville, Tenn., Lester of Roanoke, Ind., and Harold of Okeechobee, Fla.; a half-sister, Katherine Covey, Huntington, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers and a sister.
He was a carpenter with Strahm Inc. and a member of Carpenters Union #232, both of Fort Wayne, Ind. He was a member of Dora Christian Church, rural Lagro, and the Lagro American Legion. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
There are no services.

Marcella Teeters
Marcella "Sally" Teeters, 83, 1252 Ohio 29, Celina, died at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 28, 2001 at her home.
She was born Aug. 10, 1918, in Celina, to Jerome & Mary (Brockman) Steinke. On Sept. 1, 1935, she married Patrick L. Teeters who died Oct. 29, 1968.
Survivors are a son, Kenneth of Celina; three daughters and their husbands, Janet and Ron Lindemeyer, Carol and Gary Billger, and Elizabeth and Doug Teeters, all of Celina; a sister, Delores Ciesinski, Celina; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons, Patrick Jr. and Ronald; three brothers, Alvin, Victor and Robert Steinke; and a sister, Geraldine Smith.
She was a retired cook from Celina Group Insurance Company, Celina, and a member of Celina Baptist Temple.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Steve Clayton officiating. Burial is at Live Oak Cemetery, Wabash.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina.

Norbert Weis
Norbert J. Weis, 79, 814 Cecelia Drive, Coldwater, died at 6:45 a.m. Oct. 27, 2001 at his home.
He was born March 31, 1922, in Coldwater, to Joseph and Emma (Reigelsperger) Weis. He married Betty Jean Coble who died in 1972. He then married Thelma Biggs who survives.
Other survivors are a brother, Albert of Coldwater; three sisters, Mary Huber, St. Henry, Angeline Koverman, Minster, and Rosemary Meinerding, St. Marys.
Deceased is a brother, Rolland Weis; and in-laws, Mary Lou Weis, Arbeula Weis, Fred Huber, Cletus Koverman and Gus Meinerding.
He was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society, of Coldwater. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. James Dugal officiating. Burial with military rites performed by the Coldwater American Legion is at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. today and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.

Mildred Whitmore
Former Celina resident Mildred B. Fisher Whitmore, 93, died at 3:25 a.m. Oct. 28, 2001 at Lutheran Home, Fort Wayne, Ind.
She was born Sept. 9, 1908, in Selma, Ind., to Jacob A. and Emma E. (Heffner) Bauer. On May 30, 1931, she married John J. Fisher who died Nov. 13, 1973. On Sept. 9, 1984, she married Donald E. Whitmore who died Feb. 25, 1990.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, Martha and Mel Lawler, Fort Wayne, Ind.; two stepsons and their wives, Paul and Helen of Convoy, and Don and Carolyn of Spencerville; a stepdaughter and her husband, Juanita and Christy Bashore, Rockford, and a stepdaughter, Ruth Gribler, Van Wert; a sister, Gwen Henry, Shreveport, La.; a daughter-in-law, Linda Fisher, Celina; four grandchildren, 12 stepgrandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, 20 stepgreat-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
Deceased are a son, Carl Fisher, a stepson, Robert Whitmore, a grandson, a great-granddaughter and a sister.
She was a retired schoolteacher who taught at Chattanooga, Willshire, Rockford and Celina schools. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Celina, and WELCA.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating. Burial is at Kessler Cemetery, Celina.

Sr. Mary Matilda Bernard
Former St. Henry resident Sister Mary Matilda Bernard, 75, an Ursuline nun, died Oct. 28, 2001 in Cincinnati.
She was born May 26, 1926, to Henry and Matilda Bernard. Her father was former assistant superintendent of the Mercer County Schools.
Surviving are a brother and his wife, John and Tammy; two sisters and their husbands, Mary and William Faller and Anne and Ferd Kopp, and a twin sister, Sr. Mary Henry; a sister-in-law, Emma Lou; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Deceased are four brothers, Paul, Edward, Richard and Joseph.
She received a bachelor's degree from the Athenaeum of Ohio and a master's degree in library science from the University of Cincinnati. She was a teacher and librarian before retiring in 1998. She helped manage and subsequently took over management of the Sisters' Gift Shop. She also played the organ for the congregation with her last performance taking place Oct. 26.
Funeral Mass is 6:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Ursula Convent, Cincinnati. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Cincinnati.
Calling is 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the convent.

Madonna Fleck
A memorial service for Madonna Mary Fleck, 77, 119 Magnolia St., Celina, will be 10 a.m. Nov. 10, 2001 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina, the Rev. Tom Brenberger officiating.
A military service will be conducted outside church following Mass.
She died Oct. 28 at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
Phyllis Frank
Phyllis "Grandma" Frank, 79, 335 Huffman St., St. Marys, died 4:34 p.m. Oct. 28, 2001 in the emergency room at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born May 1, 1922, in Gypsum, to Don and Wilma (Featherstone) Branscomb. On June 21, 1941, she married Henry Frank and he died Oct. 20, 1995.
Surviving are a son and his wife, James and Cathy of Celina; three daughters and their husbands, Wilma and Dale Collingsworth, and Sandy and Ron Suchland, all of St. Marys, and Lynn and Mike Slusher, Celina, and a daughter, Karen Sparks, St. Marys; 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Berwin Branscomb, and a sister, Marilyn Boyd.
She had been employed at the St. Marys Woolen Mill for 20 years. She was a graduate of Columbus West High School.
Private graveside services for the family are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys, the Rev. Joy Miller officiating.
