Ellen Gomez
Ellen M. Gomez, 76, a resident of the Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford, died there 6:05 p.m. Oct. 28, 2001.
She was born Sept. 26, 1925, in Dayton, to Oscar and Gertrude (Casson) Freytag.
Surviving are two sons, David Gore, North Carolina, and James Gore, Dayton; a daughter, Patricia Marshall, Las Vegas, Nev.; and three grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, Stephan.
She was a retired bookkeeper.
No funeral service is planned.

Marion Hobbs
Marion "Hank" Hobbs, 76, 125 Concord Ave., St. Marys, died at noon Oct. 29, 2001 at the St. Marys Living Center following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 20, 1924, in Pineville, Ky., to Tilman and Etta (Terry) Hobbs. On Oct. 29, 1949, he married Patricia Rose Evans and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons and their wives, Michael and Dawn of Munster, Ind., and David and Natasha of Fort Bliss, Texas, and two sons, Joseph and Stephen of St. Marys; two daughters and their husbands, Marian and Randy White, Denver, Colo., and Susan and Tim Rose, Fort Wayne, Ind., and a daughter, Ann Long, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a brother, Billy, Florence, Ala.; a sister, Shirley Denny, London, Ky.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A 1942 graduate of Pineville High School, he attended the University of Tennessee. He retired as a trooper from Ohio State Highway Patrol Post Six after 20 years of service. He later worked at the Auglaize County Engineering Department. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served as a submariner aboard the USS Redfish during World War II. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, and a volunteer with the Adult Literacy Program and Meals on Wheels.
Funeral Mass is 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church, the Revs. David Heinl and James Byrne officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 6-9 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home Grand Lake Chapel, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys.

Michael Hunter
Celina native Michael E. Hunter, 55, 4400 W. Missouri Ave., Glendale, Ariz., died at 3:59 p.m. Oct. 26, 2001 at Osborn Hospital, Scottsdale, Ariz. Death was due to long-term complications from a brown recluse spider bite he received while camping.
He was born Sept. 27, 1946, in Celina, to Robert and Charleen (Fark) Hunter. They survive in St. Marys. On Aug. 24, 1985, he married Rhonda Jean Smith and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Christopher of Charlotte, N.C., and a sister, Nancy Koch, St. Marys.
He was employed in the shipping and receiving department at Health & Home Store, Phoenix, Ariz. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served from 1965 to 1984 and was held as a prisoner of war in Vietnam for two years. He was a 1965 graduate of Memorial High School, St. Marys, and a baptised and confirmed member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, St. Marys.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home Grand Lake Chapel, 1605 Ohio 703 West, St. Marys, the Rev. Patricia Minnick officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

William Milkovich
William Milkovich, 81, 306 E. Oak St., Celina, formerly of Johnstown, Pa., died at 9 a.m. Oct. 29, 2001 at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born Dec. 24, 1919, in Johnstown, to Dane and Milka (Caravich) Milkovich. On Oct. 4, 1942, he married Janet Medick and she died Sept. 30, 1992.
Surviving are a son, Alan of Johnstown; a daughter, Carol Milazzo, Celina; and six grandchildren.
He was a retired steel worker and crane operator.
Services are pending at Duca Funeral Home, Johnstown, with burial to be at Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown.

Wayne Potts
Wayne L. Potts, 73, Gordon Avenue, Van Wert, died 7:09 a.m. Monday [Oct. 29, 2001] at Van Wert County Hospital, where he had been a patient 10 days.
He was born May 17, 1928, in Spencerville, to Roy E. and Winnie (Shobe) Potts.
Surviving are two brothers and their wives, Carl and Dell Jean, Spencerville, and Glenn and Kathy, Celina; two sisters and their husbands, Betty and Howard Brooks and Shirley and Richard Harruff, all of Spencerville, and a sister, Maxine Little, also of Spencerville; and a brother-in-law, Jim Sites, Spencerville.
Deceased are two brothers, Richard and Donald, and five sisters, Pauline Curts, Mary Wyer, Donna Sites, Carol Miller and Linda.
He was a 1946 graduate of Spencerville High School and attended Bowling Green State University. A U.S. Navy veteran, he worked in the shipyards at Toledo, as a court stenographer in the Interstate Commerce Department and in the customs department at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport for 31 years. He was an artist, organist and member of the Episcopal Church in Dallas, Texas.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. Oran L. Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Spencerville Cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mary Rismiller
Mary E. Rismiller, 74, 8928 Ohio 121, Bradford, died Oct. 29, 2001 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton.
She was born Sept. 7, 1927, in Mercer County, to Ora and Tura (Gray) Howell. She was married to Robert P. Rismiller and he survives.
Also surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Robert Meehan, Clearwater, Fla., and Becky and Christopher Fisher of Akron, and two daughters, Julia of Union and Judy of Cincinnati; one sister, Wanda Pitman, Greenville; and four grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Lewis and Dallas Howell, and a sister, Velma Howell.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Oliver Funeral Home, Greenville, the Rev. Daniel Bell officiating. Burial will be at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.

Belva Sutter
Belva M. Sutter, 78, 417 W. North St., Coldwater, died at 2:38 a.m. Oct. 29, 2001 at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
She was born Nov. 18, 1922, in Celina, to Domer D. and Flossie (Barker) Beougher. In January 1943, she married Ralph R. Sutter and he died Nov. 5, 1981.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Ken and Kay of Dayton; a daughter and her husband, Diana and Ronald Riegelsperger, Coldwater; two brothers, Robert and Ray Beougher, Celina; a sister, Lucille Shimp, Palmyra, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Russell, Paul and Don.
She retired from Huffy's after 30 years of service. A graduate of Rockford High School, she was a member of Pleasant View Church of God.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Revs. James Sager and Morris Now officiating. Burial is at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.

Thelma Shindeldecker
Thelma I. Shindeldecker, 84, formerly of Ervin Road, Van Wert, died 8:13 p.m. Monday at Lincolnway Nursing Home, Middle Point.
She was born April 4, 1917, in Grover Hill, to F.M. and Nora (McMichael) Girod. On Nov. 21, 1936, she married Edgar A. Shindeldecker and he died Nov. 4, 1985.
Surviving is a sister, Phyllis Myers, Van Wert, and three nieces.
Deceased are a brother, Everett Girod, and a sister, Nellie Evelyn Girod.
She was a former hostess at the Holiday Inn, Van Wert and a member of First United Methodist Church, Van Wert; 20th Century Club, Rockford; and Twig One Hospital Group, Van Wert.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Ralph Schibler officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Lawrence Grubb
Lawrence E. Grubb, 89, 617 S. Echo St., Celina, died at 11:48 a.m. Sept. 30, 2002, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
He was born April 23, 1913, in Paulding, to George W. and Mary (Spanglet) Grubb. On Sept. 28, 1936, he married Sarah Forest who died July 16, 1989.
Survivors are three daughters and their husbands, Kay and Jack Ross, Decatur, Ind., Janet and Jack Mockbee, Toledo, and Susan and Jeff McLamore, Kenansville, N.C.; three brothers, Irvin and Elzie, both of Stanton, Mich., and Donald of Bryant; three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, George, Henry, John and Dave.
He retired from the former Mersman Brothers factory in Celina.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Brian Wikoff officiating. Burial is at Blue Creek Cemetery, Haviland.
