Eugene Davis
Eugene Harmon Davis, 87, 1108 Kingswood Court, Celina, died at 9:02 p.m. Jan. 15, 2003, at Colonial Nursing Center, Rockford.
He was born Feb. 8, 1915, in Celina, to Rowland and Cora Etta Siler Davis. On March 22, 1941, he married Marjorie K. Seward who is deceased.
Survivors are three brothers, Robert (Clara), Edward (JoAnn) and Armon (Virginia), all of Celina; a sister, Romola (Charles) Beougher, Rockford; and a sister-in-law, Ruth, St. Marys.
Deceased are a brother, Kenneth, a sister, Zella Ruth Harter, and an infant brother, Russell.
He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, Celina, and a member of the American Legion post #0178, Van Wert. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Katie Hayes officiating. A military graveside burial will be held at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Alvin Goettemoeller
Alvin J. "Peck" Goettemoeller, 74, 5303 St. Anthony Road, Celina, died at 7:50 p.m. Jan. 14, 2003, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton.
He was born Jan. 12, 1929, in Cassella, to Gregor and Mary Kramer Goettemoeller. On July 1, 1952, he married Verena K. Homan and she survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Charles (Doris) of Coldwater, Alan (Jean) of Lumby, British Columbia, Gary (Karen) and Eric (LeeAnn), both of Celina; two daughters, Angela (Brent) Campbell, Vandalia, and Judy (Garrett) Hellwarth, Celina; 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include three brothers, the Rev. Leonard of Liberty, Mo., Harold of Botkins, and Ivo (Esther) of St. Henry; and four sisters, Mildred (Ray) Wuebker and Edna (Norb) Kremer, both of St. Henry, Wilma (Lawrence) Link and Marie (George) Minnich, both of Fort Recovery.
A sister-in-law, Delores Goettemoeller, is deceased.
He was a farmer and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 1800, both of Celina.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Richard R. Riedel officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. today at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina.

Adam Harner
Adam Michael Glen Harner, 6, of Mendon, died at 6:58 a.m. Jan. 15, 2003, in a one-car accident on Mercer Road in Union Township.
He was born Aug. 16, 1996, in Lima, to Michael Glen and Sheryl Ann Bye1r Harner. They survive in Mendon.
Also surviving are a brother, Austin, at home; six sisters, Sarah of Celina, Ashley, a student at St. Francis College in Fort Wayne, Ind., Andrea, Abby, Amy and Audrey, also at home; and the grandparents, Glen and Katherine Harner, Mendon, and Richard and Linda Byer, Willshire.
He was a kindergarten student at Parkway Local Schools and a member of Hamilton-Bethel United Methodist Church, Mendon.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Randy Christian officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton-Bethel Cemetery, Mendon.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Roy Black
Roy S. Black, 82, 1100 Myers Road, Apt. 11, Celina, died at 8:26 a.m. today, Jan. 16, 2003.
He was born April 18, 1920, in Rockford, to Noah and Matilda Stoll Black. On March 28, 1970, he married Annabelle Klenz who died June 30, 1998.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Leslie and Raymond.
He was a retired farmer and member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Celina. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion, both of Celina.
Service times are pending at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina. Burial is at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
Leroy Black
Graveside services for Leroy S. Black, 82, 1100 Myers Road, Apt. 11, Celina, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mercer Memory Gardens, the Rev. Katie Hayes officiating.
The Celina Veterans of Foreign Wars Post will conduct military rites.
He died at 8:26 a.m. Jan. 16, 2003, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, has charge of arrangements. There is no visitation.
Maurice Elking
Maurice A. Elking, 80, 65 W. Wayne St., Chickasaw, died at 3:35 a.m. today, Jan. 15, 2003, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
He was born Oct. 11, 1922, in Chickasaw, to Frank and Francis Bruggeman Elking. On Sept. 25, 1948, he married Eleanor Abels and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Daniel of Chickasaw and Patrick (Janet) of St. Henry; a daughter, Cynthia of Medway; a son-in-law, Dave Knapke, St. Henry; and five grandchildren.
Other survivors include a brother, Charles (Lillian) of Springboro; a sister, Marie (Ben) Riethman, McCartyville; and three sisters-in-law, Marita Brockman, St. Henry, Rita Elking, New Bremen, and Matilda Elking, Chickasaw.
Deceased are a daughter, Kathleen Knapke; three brothers and a sister.
He had worked as a milk hauler for Fisher Cheese for 20 years and at Superior Silo in Coldwater for 25 years. He also worked at Homan Equipment for five years.
A past fire chief with Chickasaw Community Fire Department, he also drove bus for the former St. John High School in Maria Stein. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, Chickasaw.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. John Bensman officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Friday and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.

Charles Spaulding
Charles A. Spaulding, 77, 303 S. Pear St., St. Marys, died at 5:45 p.m. Jan. 13, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born May 17, 1925, in Lima, to Otto and Marie Burklo Spaulding. In 1955, he married Betty Jean Flanagan and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, the Rev. Michael (Kathy) of St. Marys; five daughters, Catherine (Dick) Klosterman, Deb (Randy) Fuson and Melissa (Dan) Williams, all of St. Marys, Barb (J.D.) Secession and Kip (Mac) Macklin, both of Lima; three sisters, Virginia Johnson, Columbus, Wilma Cathcart, St. Marys, and Betty Hoselton, Celina; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A brother, James, and a sister, Mary Catherine, are deceased.
He retired from the U.S. Navy after serving tours of duty during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He later retired from the St. Marys Municipal Power Plant as a boiler operator. He was a member of Calvary Christian Fellowship, St. Marys.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Thomas Brodbeck officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
